Home made pride of workmanship. "The music plays the band". Respect and sensitivity to the song [kn/]. A Nashville cultural feel to it all. Perfect ending and the look down and then briefly up directly into the camera balancing the private and the personal with the courage to show.
Lovely. Even dig the ersatz accordion in the backup.
Popped into my head a few days ago and I drove myself crazy trying to remember where I'd heard it, until I finally flashed on Geoff Muldaur at a mike, with Amos Garrett backing him up.
@HenfieldWill Bloodlines....tearstained hardtimes and nothin but Louisiana sunshine and some crawfish boilin.with a friend, some cards, Aperatif, and always, the boat. He was bigger than many of us know. He IS bigger, not was, except to BC who's just fishin and dancin on down the line. Man can only be true to his voice, and BCs covered my youth as far away as NY, all thru his salad days and my youth. I never EVER knew him except in something Jerry Jeff alluded to back in Texas...Rhythm 'n Bruise
Fell in love with this song in the early ninties when played and sung by Tony CSA VIncent at London venues (See him now on Youtube) . Sadly I dont think theres a recording of Tennessee Blues by CSA, it was wonderful, but now sadly departed this mortal existance. Great to hear this done with feeling by this Artist. Thanks
Kris Kristofferson & Rita Coolidge have done a version which is widely available, it's nice and sweet but unlike kris very low key, understated and slow tempo. There's also a verion by legendary blues man Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown which is the one most similar to doug sams. And of course there's the marvelous radio version of dhoug sam (sp?) which I heard on the radio but I haven't tracked down yet.
hi will. sorry to bug you, but love yr work and i'm stumped trying to figure out what yr playing there. i've got the chords - but what tuning are you in? that's not standard, is it?
Bobby Charles is wonderful. Check out the 2004 2-CD set "Last Train To Memphis" - there's also a great track from The Last Waltz 4-CD set - "Down South In New Orleans". I love his music totally!
I have that Bobby Charles CD The Band played on some of it liked to have seen you do it without the backing Henfielfwill-Hey it's my only complaint was good though.
RIP Bobby. One of the real troubadours. Lovely guitar, looks like an asat special?

Got that Amos Garrett feel on the guitar... nice job. This song is staple of Geoff Muldaur's shows. Keeping Bobby's name and music out there.

Yeah, wish I could see some Bobby Charles footage...
I think I've got 85% of his released material and there are many jewels amongst it. Makes you want to see the King of New Orleans perform.
But your tribute is fantastic and very much in BC's way. Thanks a lot!
