I met Bunker Spreckels when we both attended St. John's Military Academy in LA. Despite his mom was Kay Spreckels and heir to Spreckels Sugar and his step-Dad was Clark Gable, he was very down to earth and a very nice person to be around. "Resp in Peace Bunker"!
@ccnsog1 You lived in a great time I think. Wish I could have been there then. What was in like in S. California back then? We see so much on tv about it I wonder, was it really so cool?
To all you fucking idiots who are giving a dead man shit.Bunker was so far ahead of his time it would take you all the time in your life to catch up.He inspired my shaping.and surfed better for that time than you ever will .I grew up with his brother John in Hollywood. And Bunker was a great guy.I bet all you fags listen to Talentless butt bands like the Black eyed pea brains any ways.Bunker was a true ROCKER!!!!!I'm 48 and ride a 5'6" while all you fags are on fun boards. Thanks Bunker!!
Finally some footage that brings to life the myth of Bunker Spreckels.Well done!! Is there a film coming out about him or does this clip only promote the book?
What's the song around 1:07? Sounds so familiar.

Bunker was a very creative and talented surfer, it's tragic that his life ended so young. He was a free spirit and so fun in the water. Aloha!

Bunker was a pimp!!
Great surfer with style. Not as good as Bertleman, but different. Old school still inspires my surfing for sure. He is a legend now. like james dean.

Lords of dogtown introduced topper burkes based on Bunker . There needs to be a documentary on his interesting life.

Saw the Taschen biography book on him yesterday at an art museum, worth browsing I wouldn't recommend purchasing. Great surfer,
crazy life, and in the end, another O.D.

Damn Sad that he died so early on in life.He lived at a million miles an hour.A crazy surfer.
