  • Ricardo Valenzuela was a gift to us all while he was among us. His talent, his love of family, and his passion made an impression on me. Just to distinguish myself from racist nutjobs, I'll go ahead and reveal that I'm a conservative white guy! May God grant Eternal Rest to Ricardo. Viva Ritchie, Viva!

  • Only if he never took that plane ride he would still be here :( but his music is :)

  • We will sing it in Choir :D

  • Below many of you will find idiotic bitch immigrant haters and smart accepting Americans. I'd suggest you only read the comments of the latter. Reader discretion is advised.

By the way just watched a video on the plane crash. Sad death for 3 of music's greats.

  • Ritchie Valens (born Richard Steven Valenzuela; May 13, 1941 – February 3, 1959) was a Mexican-American singer, songwriter and guitarist.

  • labambahusen xD *-*

  • If he didn´t die so early, we could have more wonderful songs from him- AND HE WAS GREAT, If you want to know about his life, watch film La Bamba :) it is great film

  • sorry movie no film

  • love it!!!

  • I'm Mexican and we also know how to state our race on YouTube videos.

  • I may be puerto rican but I LOVE THIS SONG

  • Am i the only Greek German that loves this song?

  • real name Ricardo Valenzuela

  • @darthduck1000 Yeah, heaven forbid that we should be forced to accept their culture rather than ramming our culture down the throats of the rest of the world as we normally do. And unless your a Native American, then your family ancestors were immigrants too at one point, and probably looked on by the people already living here in the same way as you are looking at the Mexican immigrants right now, maybe even worse. Some people really need to crack open a history book occasionally.

  • me gusta

  • lol all 6 million of these people are mostly mexicans

  • @xXF1eeXx I'm A Whiteboy And I Still Love This Song....

  • @xXF1eeXx and you would probably be right maldito pinchazo racista

  • @xXF1eeXx I might be the whitest guy on earth and I love this song lol.

  • he was a fucking badass!!! What a huge loss!

  • ke?

  • he's only 17 ? In this picture he looks like 40. Anyway awesome song

  • he die so young he had

    a great feature

  • when I die this will be in my ears

  • A couple of things I absolutely love and admire about Ritchie are that he was "everyman" not a rich snob. Also, listen to his vocals and you can tell he was having the time of his life just singing away...The guy really knew how to have fun!!! Who could not listen to his music and start to smile?

  • Comment removed

  • Oh what could have been...

  • die so young :(

  • Rest in Peace, Sr. Valens

  • I like it so much that I have it as my ringtone.

  • AWESOME - AWESOME!!!

  • For some reason, I play this song while I play DOOM.

  • love it.

  • Anyone else think it was Ronald Reagan from the thumbnail??

  • @jbeetlebailey212 thanks

  • la bamba wasnt his song, BUT, as a non spanish speakin mexican he sure did learn to rip it up !

  • Io amo la musica pop/rock, ma la bamba è una pietra miliare, grande Ritchie Valens

adrenalina in note come la definiva Lui!!

  • and actually they had money to board, they were all friends at that point, they flipped a coin for who would take the broken down bus with no heat, ritchie won the toss, got on the plane, and that was the end of it. so sad

  • i fuckin love ritchie,, MY HEART GOES OUT TO HIS FAMILY !!!!!!! poor guy!!!

  • translations please

  • @Jonny8my That could take a little while - "In order to dance "La Bamba" all you need is a little bit of grace...a little bit of grace for me and a little grace for you! I will be all for you, I will be all for you!" "I'm not a sailor, i'm not a sailor...I'm a Captain, I'm a Captain...Dance La Bamba, Dance La Bamba!"

  • @jbeetlebailey212 gracioso means funny, not grace.

  • @deimos929 Yes, that's true - but that's NOT what he said. He doesn't say "gracioso" he said "gracia"!!!

  • @Jonny8my When he says "Por ti seré, por ti seré" he's saying "i'll be everything for you, i'll be everything for you!" (basically meaning he'll be everything she'd be looking for)

  • Viva Ritchie Valens, I watch his movie over and over and feel so proud for this great legend! He did a lot in his young life! Viva la Bamba and Ritchie Valens!

  • Really amazing!! Such a huge loss of great talent!!

  • @RadKaos247 how loss?

  • @tonymejia123 he was ontour with buddy holly, the big bopper, and dion & the belmonts in 1959. holly charterd a plane to take them to the next venue. evryone but dion & the belmonts boarded bc they didnt hav enough money to take the plane so they went by bus. shortly aftr taking off the plane crashd killing evryone on board on feb 2. 1959. the day aftr is still immortalized as the day the music died and it did somewhat. thank god there were others soon to follow to fill their shoes

  • i listen to this song while pouring hot wax over my chest

  • @suoganraistrick What's wrong with you?

  • @Shiznit304 my cat died, and i feel lonley, so i needed a bit of comfort

  • at first ritchie valens could speak spanish so that why when he sung this song he had trouble pronouncing words in la bamba

  • pooiee

  • love Ritchie singing this, such a loss when he died! :-(

  • Gutsy to release a pop song in Spanish in the '50's.

  • @AugieMedina Not just that, but it could have easily offended the Spanish community

  • @AugieMedina Mexicans weren't streaming across the border like millions of rats getting off a sinking ship in the 50's trying to change the aspect of our American culture and the US Government did not force everyone in America to accept the Hispanic culture like they do today. SO, it was kinda nice to enjoy something different without being FORCED too. Call me what you will, that is the truth...jus'sayin!

  • @darthduck1000 Amen to that!

  • @darthduck1000 You are obviously either very young or uniformed of the real story behind immigration. If it weren't for the Mexican people Texas would have never won its independence, many were on OUR side. People always seem ready to accept minorities when they put on a uniform and die for the cause.

  • he released this song when he was 16. a year before that he was just another singing Mexican kid in the valley of Southern CA. i was 17 when i really took the time to listen to this song... he was my age at the time when he died. i wish i had half the talent he had

  • @dukewayne91 my dad is the same age as Ritchie Valens and always talks about how he inspired him, that anything is possible. a Mexican/American kid from Lincoln Heights looking up to a Mexican/ American kid from Pacoima in music's highest stage. even until this day he has never gotten over the death of his idol.

  • @dukewayne91

Antes de falar algo pesquise meu amigo, essa musica é de uma banda mexicana chamada Los Lobos, ele apresentou essa musica em um show, apos isso que ele regravou a mesma em disco....

  • Great stuff! Too bad he was taken so soon!

  • When Im playing PES and im dribbling with Messi the song that comes in my mind is la bamba coz when im doing this i often score!

  • the oldies are the best because the illuminati had nothing to do with the music back then , now its all about sex money and cars just to mess with the young minds and heads....

they wonder why there is so much rape now days and shootings and deaths on the road...

  • @BerrieS2190 Oh yeah of course it's all because of the Illuminati.

  • orale!

  • this song reallly gets ur blood pumpin because its gots the best beat eva thumbs up if yall agree

  • he is telling you how to dance the bamba

  • @biggusdickus1994 and that he is not a sailor, a sea captain?

  • Carol Kaye rocks.

  • I remember when he first came out and I was born in NY. I moved to Yuma, Az.and learned spanish pretty well. Believe me when I say that we have had alot of music taken from our ears and hearts. He's in Rock and Roll Heaven now and I'll see him again I hope.

  • From all the accounts I've read, Ritchie was the biggest thing in the rock n roll world at the time of his death, even bigger than Buddy Holly. Elvis was still at war, and this 17 year old kid exploded. He had such raw talent, it would have been interesting to see how he would have developed had he lived. At least he left behind the songs he did.

  • I'm surprised knowing that so many people listen his songs still nowadays,to me,he is legend, and I won't forget him ever.My friend few days ago asked me what music do I listen to,and I sad Ritchie Valens and I don't give a shit about any modern bands, fuck them lol, this is music to me. :')

  • You can't but to tap your feet and sing this song. It is surely brilliant.

  • GREAT SONG !

  • He was so young but his few songs hit.

  • He died with buddy holly and big bopper they were all do young :'(

  • me enconta bailar a LA BAMBA! :) :)

  • This is by far one of the best songs I have ever Heard! What a Tragedy it was. The day the music died February 3, 1959.

  • I learned this song phonetically back when it came out. Had not a clue as to what the words meant, but I could sing them all. About ten years later, after a couple of years of high school Spanish, I suddenly realized I understood the song. About 4 years after that American Pie came out and it dawned on me all we'd lost back then.

  • Still listening to his music in 2012 and will never stop

  • @775GIRLRIDER i love it

  • E arriba e arriba, vou te espremer, vou te espremer !

  • it sounds the same like Twist And Shout

  • @TheRevSRB yep except this is much older Twist and shout was inspired by good old rock and roll music like this ;)

  • My Father's old friend went to high school with him and lived near him... died young. rip

  • @xxleandraxx1 my dad saw ritchie play at pacoima jhs and legion staduim in el monte, ca back in '57 and '58. he was only few months older than my dad, and even until this day. my dad still talks about ritchie valens and is still saden by his tragic death along with buddy holly, and the big bopper at such a young age of seventeen.

  • @metalkrush77 At least once a week I drive down HYW 6 in Ontario, Canada, and see a sign which reads "Valens Conservation Area". It always reminds me of Richie and his tragic death. I saw the movie "La Bamba" and have read about the causes of the plane crash. I'll meet him for real in heaven. A retired catholic priest. "Something to look forward to!" P.S. In '58 I was nineteen and in the Seminary.

  • I live in the town were Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and The Big Bopper performed there last show at the Surf Ballroom in good ole' Clear Lake, Iowa... they all still remain very well known legends in our area, I could only imagine how music would be today if they were still around influencing more people. :( it's very sad... there crash site is located just North of Clear Lake, Iowa... (west of I-35) in the middle of a field. There is a memorial for them located there... I love visiting it!....
