What a strangely plain gravy. American food is usually much more flavourful. Why not beef broth instead of milk, like a beer or wine based beef broth garnished with herbs? If you're gonna stick with a milky roux or bechamel-like gravy, then why not add a little more spice like cheeze and nutmeg. The very best southern food IMHO...is pulled pork or pulled turkey sandwich. YUM!! Best desert: Caramel Pecan Pie OMG!!

I like my gravy for the country fried steak to be a bit darker instead of a cream gravy. But if he wants it a bit crunchier you can add just a touch of sugar. Not enough to make it over sweet, but sugar makes a flour or crumb based coating crispier. There ya go Bobby, I hope that helps. lol. Good stuff.

i cook alot and dont have the money to constantly run out and buy buttermilk and only use a cup of it while the rest goes bad.
