  • haaa the fantastic view of my school bus at about 1:30 hehe :D

  • because @comedyhunter her Father was from Derby! He must have had some connection to the bridge. I will ask her when we speak again, She did send me a picture of the gravestone which is why I was able to name it.

  • There is actually more to this story. An internet friend from Canada "Saskatoon" sent me a picture and asked if I knew this bridge. I said "Yes, its Swarkestone bridge,I know it well. Then she showed me another picture of the bridge which is engraved on her Fathers gravestone in Canada.. Amazing coincidence eh?

  • @clearly Strange, Why is it on a gravestone in Canada?

  • I have driven across it hundreds of times. "Comedyhunter" is right. Many a time i've nearly hit a car,or the bridge!

The story I heard was that it was built on layers of straw because it kept on sinking into the marsh.

    Five stars for the memories

  • @clearly Thanks, glad it brought back memories for you. I have lots of Derbyshire driving vidoes, check em out.

    Andy

  • This was a great video, and i never knew that the bridge was so important.

  • Thanks, Yes people take things for granted unless you let them know like this.

  • Perfick!

  • This is a lovely film...and an interesting story. Your films are great.

  • Thanks Andy, Glad you appreciate the effort I put into my productions.

  • oh yes i know this bridge very well indeed! :)

I've been over it thousands of times.

I love the history you have about it in the description.

  • Yes, its quite a drive across and can be iffy in places as the road goes too narrow to get two cars passing but there are no warnings about those bits. You cant just go for it or you will hit something.

  • Nice video, I have canoed under that bridge on a school trip. What song is that you used?

  • Well done for getting through that rough water under the bridge!

The music is Blumenthal by Ulrich Schnauss.

  • nice info about this a grade bridge

  • Great video of one of the best road trips in the UK.
