  • DUDE! Could you maybe put some lessons in here where you show how you do the fast licks at the start? :) Sorry for bad English... im from Denmark :D

  • To all those people wondering what his hardware is, the guitar has stock pups and I'd say it's the amp's overdrive - no pedals. Sounds like a marshall for sure. Fantastic video man, your playing is impeccable. I'ma get me one of these bad boys asap :D

  • Hi Ben, i like to know, what camera you use to record this video?

  • do you use any pedal in this video?or only the amp's distorsion?

  • Thats some high action man.

  • I sense Yngwie ( description) , zakk and slash influences??

  • You've obviously got great technique...now work on putting some feeling into what you play.

  • you cant beat a marshall / gibson sound nice one man good work :)

  • SUPER

  • dude....... your a boss

  • Are those the pickups that came with the les paul? and also are you using any pedal effect?

  • i really like the lick at 0:11 can you please tab it out? ill subscribe!

  • I was having doubts about buying a studio model, I saw this video and I'm thinking about buying it.

  • Sounds great man. Awesome Awesome playing...are those the stock pup's in that bad boy?

  • nice i got this guitar in alpine white and gold hardware

  • fucking right!!! nice shirt too, ze bomba ze bomba!!!

  • Very nice playing man. That sounds a lot like my playing style (legato pentatonic scale ect.) IIs this guitar easy to solo on? I am seriously considering getting an LP Studio, and I am trying to do a little research before I buy. Your reply will be greatly appreciated.

  • Can't go wrong with a Gibson Les Paul and a Marshall Stack. EVER

  • how do u do that lick from 0:06 - 0:10 ?

  • i have one too!! but i was bored with the pckups and instaled a seymour duncan sh-59' and a sh-6! and it sound amazing!!!

  • i have the same stuff !

  • this one has burstbuckers pro or 490R and 498T Pickups? and wich one are the best???

    thank's and great playing :)

  • @Mrr3nato Looks like his guitar isn't faded, therefore it must have the 490R/498T combination (aka Modern Classics). When comparing them to Burstbucker Pros, you can't really say which pair is better. They are both good, but for different purposes. Burstbucker Pros are more vintage-sounding (great for classic stuff), while Modern Classics are more modern-sounding, but also more versatile (good for pretty much everything, from jazz to metal).

  • Wth , very nice Sound and very well played, Bäm ! :)

  • I want one of these in that exact color with gold hardware so bad I can taste it. Just a fantastic guitar. Nothing in the world sounds quite like a Les Paul through a Marshall tube amp.

  • Dang dude, that's some fine playing,....punish that paul!!!

  • Very nice Tone , you should ask Ozzy for playing in his Band :)

  • What scales are you playing?

  • hey man, great playing! 1 question though, how does ur epipone les paul stand up to this?

    thanks

  • how long u play

  • how did you master the petatonic scale like that?

  • i love marshall amps!!

  • where did u buy this guitar??

  • i hate the assholes who ask for tabs

WHO JUST HAS THIS WRITTEN DOWN?!?!

  • Awesome tone man, What string gauge and pick gauge are you usin?

  • How do you get that gear? its very expensive for a boy of my age (i think so) thanks ^^

  • is the neck very thick that can be annoying and uncomfortable for some people?

    great improvisation!really enjoyed it

  • @k0staZ

    Hello mate thanks:)

Well i play strats and super strats alot and i dont find it too bigger neck. Its certainly not an uncomfortable neck and i have smallish hands. Its not a baseball bat like some les paul customs but its still got enough wood there.

    Ben

  • @benwilshire i played an epiphone les paul ultra II once and i found the neck very difficult to play, too thick and difficult to reach the high frets. However that was 3-4 years ago. And that made me to worry for all les pauls :D They look badass but i always think that :s I have to try on myself at the music store

  • @benwilshire dude , is this les paul worth buying if im gonig to play the, blues? my dream always was to have a les paul, but its too expensive like 3000 dollars.yesterday i saw this gibson les paul studio for 1200 at a local music store, i made a reseach and the gibson site told it was exectly like a standard one, is this true, thanx

  • @k0staZ It's based on a late 50's neck. So They thinned out a little in the later 50's. These necks are very nice to play. And i am used to playing thin necked Kramer's and superstrats.

  • Gibson and Marshall= my dick so hard that it explodes.. and idc. i can only thank them..

  • Fuck man, you rock! there is definately an essence of slash in there!

  • Yo man you can shred how much is the Les Paul studio

  • @skiingkid57 1000 pounds but im from england so i dont know in dollars

  • Nice Job DUDE !!!!

    nice playing and sound !!!

    Jamming Rules.

  • Hi!

man you have a great sounding there:)

what were your settings (treble, bass, EQ,gain)?

    thanks :D

  • @jbmc111 Hello man Prescence - 2 Treble - 2.5 Mids - 3 Bass - 5 Gain about 4 or 5 Lead two channel though i use the lead 1 and crunch channels now. Hope this helps man:)!!! Ben
  • @benwilshire

    thank you very much!

  • @candyman3108

    Hello mate

sorry man no was just jamming. Noodle about with your E minor Pentatonic and i spect youll figure out most of the stuff its quite simple.

    Thanks mate

    Ben

  • @candyman3108 asking for tabs for improvisations seems very poor to me, it is a thing that every guitarist should do by himself.

  • @TheMoribundTree Yeah,I agree with you,but that sounded very familliar to me. Must be my imagination

    Jay

  • hey man, got my tsl100 yesterday, but can get no where near as much gain as some of your videos and the tone is no where near as nice.. any suggestions why? thanks.

  • @InVESQUA

    Hi mate

My DSL was just the same when i got it. New amps need breaking in just like new guitars. When i got mine the tone was very weak and very watery not very good at all. After about a week of hard playing the amp really started to sing and was very full sounding. Try that mate just playing it for a while and if no joy then re tube and service may be in order but i spect this will do the trick. Has done for many other people who have messaged me with the same problem.

    Ben

  • how does the studio and the epi les paul custom compare?

i hear the neck on the studio is a lot thicker.

    which guitar do you prefer?

  • @Zeppelindude628

    Hello mate

The neck on the studio is a lot thinner than the custom. still thick but a bit less of a hand full, the custom is a bit of a baseball bat. The gibson studio all the way mate its a brilliant guitar and you can pick em up for not much for than the epiphone custom.

    Ben

  • @benwilshire

ahh thanks man.. yeah actually i tried one at GC today and it felt amazing and perfectly in my hands.. im strongly considering it now

  • So far I have seen a lot of videos where people's playing doesn't match the gear they have. Its very frustrating. You obviously know how to play that Les Paul very well. Congrats.

  • i give you props man. I'm about to buy a les paul so i wanted to see how it will sound with my marshal. All the videos i've seen so far are perfect examples of people having incredibly expensive gear but not really knowing how to use it. Your video is a perfect example of having great gear and knowing how to use it! congrats

  • AWESOME.

love some straight up pentatonic shredding,

and youre definately an awesome take at some top notch pentatonic destruction!

this video gave me chills, I CRANKED IT.

    youre great, really. :)

  • at some parts you sound like slash :)))) very good playing...i'd love to see some lessons from you :)

    regards

  • now thats what a Gibson is made to do!

    you rock dude!

  • I am looking into buying the gibson les paul studio and i would very much appreciate it if you could tell me how good the sustain is on this guitar, thanks.

P.S . Those are some sweet licks man keep rockin!!

  • @FooFightersAreAwesom

    Hi

Yeah it sustains forever like most les pauls or any solid mahogony body guitar. If you have the stop bar tail peice on the bridge down low to the body as well that helps. No problems with lack of sustain on the studio.

    Ben

  • @benwilshire ok tyvm

  • @FooFightersAreAwesom LP Studios are great guitars. I recently bought one second hand as well only mine was split where the neck and body meet (I got it cheaper because it had been repaired) The guy I got it from had it professionally repaired but long story short it still sustains like a mother f***** even after the repair. My strat can't touch it. I would definitely recommend one to any one that doesn't need a trem.

Awesome playing Ben. I wish I was that good.

  • @Jimmyamazingz thank you jimmy apreciate the input!

  • Holy shit! that was nice.

  • turn volume upp

  • Hey, just wondering, how does the epiphone les paul custom size up to the gibson les paul studio?

  • You play so fucking great !

    I'm impressed !

What scales do you like to use the most ?

  • @Tuticows

    Hi thanks!

On this video i just use the pentatonic and blues scale with the occational bit of major. Normally i like to play yngwie stuff so a lot of minor, harmonic minor and phrygian.

    Ben

  • Epic dude u rock

  • hey can you tell me or send me a tab of how u did the bit at 0:13. sounds great bro. i have the same amp with a gibson sg. gibson and marshall all the way

  • hey man, your fucking good!

  • sick playing and great tone

  • sweet man thank you how much u paid for yngwie strat???and for the les paul?? oh and what was the setting for the dod :P??

oh and you want to play in a band or be a soloist like yngwie??

  • @daniel953122

    Hi No worries!

I got my yngwie strat from ebay for £700 with the case and its pretty much mint condition. I got the Gibson from my guitar teacher with the Tan and Pink case for £450. Both my favoirite guitars!

For the YJM dod i have the gain and level on 6. I also have a vintage DOD 250 Reissue which i have the gain and level on 6.

    Ben

  • @daniel953122

the 2nd bit (youtube was broke)

I would like to be a soloist like yngwie or play in a malmsteen style band but there not many people to play with. I mean how many yngwie fans do you see who play drums? But yeah i would love to play in a yngwie tribute band.

Im in a band at the moment

We do mostly our own stuff and a few covers.

    Thanks again:)

    Ben

  • @benwilshire yeah man thats right, but i guess any trash meal or like power metal drummer should suffice no?..or just be like yngwie and fight with ur drummer all the time hahah :P

that is awesome man you deffinitely have the skills to make any crappy band into a decent one with your playing.keep it up man!and good luck! =]

  • @daniel953122

Thanks for the kind words!!! really appreciate it!!

    All the best:)

    Ben

  • amazing what is ur setting for this piece???very precise playing very clean

  • @daniel953122 Hi thanks! EQ Prescence - 3 Treble - 3 Mid - 2 Bass - 6 Gain - 4 On lead 2 channel Thanks Again!! PLAY LOUD Ben
  • you crazi man gongratulations

  • I'm crying. You're awesome.

  • hi :D

This sounds amazing. i also have a Gibson LP studio. wine red :D

i'm thinking of buying a new amp, preferably a marshall valve amp. i need tones suitable for green day, guns n roses, sum 41 and similar bands :)

will this amp do the job? or will i need a pedal or 2? i'm kinda tight on money

    thanks.

  • @mefmef21

    Hi thanks!

I would very much recomend this amp it is awesome!! I play a few different stlyes from rock and blues with the LP and neoclassical metal with my YJM strat and it sounds great with all of them. With a les paul you shouldnt need any pedals at gigs and at home i only ever use just the amps OD and nothing else. It has litrally no background noise at all and never feedbacks. Another good point is that it is loud as hell as well!.

  • @mefmef21

Depending on what you are doing the DSL401 could be better. 40 watt all valve is still really loud and though mine is 100 watts i only have it on about 4 or 5 at gigs. The 401 sounds awesome too just wether you want something bigger for your needs or more portable both sound awesome.

    Thanks again

    PLAY LOUD!

    Ben

  • @benwilshire so is this the dsl 100?

    and no feedback? :S

sorry. im new to amplifiers having just a peavey vypyr...

  • @mefmef21

    Yeh the DSL 100

You can get feedback and some background noise but its very minimal compared to other amps ive played.

  • @benwilshire i see.. :)

how much these bad boys going for?

  • @mefmef21

I got mine ( just the head) second hand for £280 which was a bargain. That was on ebay. You should quite easily get one for bout £300 - £320. The 100 watt models are cheap than the 50 watt ones usually cus there less desirable. My cab was £175 second hand also.

  • @benwilshire

thanks for all your help. i am 90% sure that this is my next amp unless i find a jcm 800 lead with a cab for £500 :L

  • Cool demo, finally some distortion... I want hear some SD Blackouts on this guitar... anyone??

    Thx

  • Love it! Please, can you tell me your settings ?

  • you rule due...u should become a rockstar

  • I now that i am boring you with this questions, but one last.I have a video camera, is good but when i record something with my guitar, a extreme bass sound screams and only the bass it is heard. What can i do to make my sound better without this bass sound?note:i have 2 columns and a buffer.

  • Hi

It sounds like maybe your recording too loud. You often get that when you record at a gig it might possibly be that. I record quietly when i do cus i have to unfortunatly. Try recording with the guitar at a lower volume of if your recording loud put the camera further away from your amp.

    Cheers

    :)

    Ben

  • How long do you play guitar?you are fast and amazing.

  • Hi

ive bin playing about 4 years and practice for about 1 and half to about three hours a day. More like 2 hours these days cus i got a lot of stuff to do for school and stuff. But play whenever i got a free half hour. Its all i do cept fishin!

Cheers for the comments appreciate it:)

    PLAY LOUD

    Ben

  • Hi very good video, i just have one question. That model is faded or it is the normal studio?

  • Hi

Its the normals Shiny studio. My friend in our band uses the faded studio its just as nice.

    PLAY LOUD

    Ben

  • do you think is a good guitar to play metallica?

  • Hi

Yeh as far as i know it would. James Hetfeild uses an old gibson les paul custom and kirk has an esp les paul style signature and ive seen him with a les paul standard.

    Cheers

    Ben

  • Long time ago I saw you old video, very nice playing!

  • how is the neck feeling compared to the Strats?

    nice playing there!

  • Hi

Its really nice. not too slim but not half a tree trunk. Its very similar to the gibson sg specials.

    PLAY LOUD

    Ben

  • man..i love it keep posting man! check my vids when you get a chance!!1

  • nice guitar and cool shirt..
