I remember being on a 20,000 lb rated OTIS freight elevator at PAINE field north of Seattle while on a tour of Boeing factory. Boy was that elevator fast! :D I checked the registration plate.. showed 100 FPM for certification speed.

It has NOT been torn down and it probably never will be as there is no need for a new JCPenney b/c even though the actual building JCPenney is in opened in 1965, JCPenney has only occupied it since 1992. It was Gimbel's until the mid 80's, and stern's until 1992. JCP had a store in the plaza b4 1992, that opened in '63, and was torn down in '92.

This is in the pavilion (former dpt store) which is part of the court. The Court opened in 1981. This used to be Abraham and Straus (A&S), and closed in 1995, Reopened as Strawbridge's and Clothier 1997, closed late '99/early '00. Converted to the Pavilion, opened 2001, which is when this elevator was modernized by Schindler. It HAD GAL Jet Plus fixtures, and was an esco labeled "OTIS". The passenger elevator (now Schindler MT) had Otis Lexan Buttons. That is why this area of the mall is 3floors
