  • what effect did he use on intro??

  • Cedrcis voice is ORGASMIC<3333333333 Mars Volta Forever!!!!!

  • 0:19 Quarantined bass riff ???

  • looooooooooooooove this song!

  • Jesus Christ Cedric's voice SUCKS ass. HE RUINS EVERYTHING. Every single fucking note is out of tune. If they could only take it the fuck easy and pay attention to the sound they're trying to make, like Juan the bass player or drummer, or keyboardist is doing, then maybe they would be quite possibly one of the most epic bands to ever exist. But a shit performance like this from Omar and Cedric just ruins every hope of them having any longevity on the live front. Cedric's GOTTA GO.

  • @CristiaanC fuck you. enough said

  • @LordKaninchen lol....right. Good one.

  • @CristiaanC Dude, are you stupid? Cedric is one of the most fantastic and creative vocalists of the last decade, and has a unique stage presence. Incomparable, even with the typical tune.

  • @VPLoki His stage presence portrays that of chaos, lack of control and lack of order, the complete opposite impression that is given when you listen to their albums. Their music is extremely complex and intricately ordered and organized. If they had the discipline and maturity of some of the great Jazz musicians, they would be seen as Gods. But running around like a bunch of undisciplined children is absurd, especially when you can't execute (vocally) what you've recorded.

  • @CristiaanC sad but true

  • @fetteshice Thank you for having an insight that apparently is not very common amongst other viewers here. It is sad, and worst of all true, but when the standard is set at such a low level, and mediocrity is seen as quality, the motivation for improvement disappears. Thanks again for realizing what I'm saying.

  • @CristiaanC No it isn't out of tune. Get what you're saying, it doesn't apply here though, mate.

  • @OHollowTimes Think what you want; I'm a classically trained pianist, and I've studied at Julliard and the Aaron Copland School of music. A large part of the curriculum is sight singing, with emphasis on notation and composition. I admire their creativity and I can agree with you on one thing; on the album, his voice is fantastic, but live, it is severely out of tune. They have to calm down. It diminishes the level of professionalism they should be portraying. Cedric's gotta GO.

  • @CristiaanC YOU suck ass. Try singing like him then bitch about it. You wouldnt know talent if it sat on your face. Leave Cedric alone and get the fuck out... Seriously.

  • i want a fro like that!

  • The mars

  • Cedric is actually singing well here...

and inertiatic esp is pretty hard on your voice

  • One word, EPIC. When I seen these cats live, it was a very sicC show...: BIG UPS from PROVIDENCE, RI!!!!!1

  • cool sound...but i saw them at arco in Sac and it pains me to say...they sucked...they didn't sound good...probably cuz arco is one big echo chamber and concerts suck there. But Cedric sounded like shit at arco. When System of a Down played after them...they sounded great, Serg sounded wonderful that night.

  • @Mirada84 I don't doubt it man, from what I see here, and when people think this is an epic performance, I can't imagine what a bad day looks like for Cedric.

  • @CristiaanC I agree with you, but their are some instances when his singing is just so good. I've been singing and learning music since very young, and though I'd say im a decent singer, I would imagine anything Cedric produces is hard to reproduce, Alot of things he sings are in the right key but just the wrong notes, when its so High even for a tenor i think its hard to "remember" where your notes are, but in recent years he has improved and become a bit more stable.

  • Miss the afros...

  • wheres omar's glasses??????

  • This has to be one of my favorite intros ever.

  • I saw these guys with my now wife and my father-in-law in Orlando's house of blues... we were right above the drummer.... holy shit it was awesome and loud!

  • @mikecoble2001 Damn man, I'm jealous. How is the new drummer? Heard he's a lot more like Theodore.

  • They are great. I've seen them 4 times, but Cedric's voice live is always a bit disappointing.

  • The Mar Volta and The Fall Of Troy = Epic.

  • First time listening but they're good :D

  • I love the things Cedric is able to do with a microphone

  • Keyboardist is trippin on some good stuff haha :D

  • The Mars Volta is truely one of the most creative, greatest band I've ever heard in my life and thats cause I'm an old bum. Also makes me proud to be hispanic myself, I bet whities are pissed at that, races fags atleast lol

  • @SucceedingTheCarnage Can we trade you jersey shore cast for Volta?

  • @SucceedingTheCarnage Sorry, this is the white people. I can't understand the point you're trying to make with your semi-broken English.

  • @ninjawannabe44 It's truly sad that you even reply to my coment, especially after I stated that it was meant to the people who are races fags. So with that being said, I have come to the conclusion that thats exactly what you are. Not only that but if that's how you feel then why are you listening to The Volta? They stand for peace and love for the most part. You're more than likely a person with no life, just looking for any chance to argue with another person. Your pathetic & naive.Grow up kid

  • That looked backwards! I'm trippin

  • @firecracker9996

This is the greatest opener to an album, hands down, ever. In another 10 years, this fact will remain the same. NOTHING BEATS MARS VOLTA

  • @yeahrightyousuck deloused is such a fucking great album

  • @yeahrightyousuck I just started to listen to the mars volta anonther band you should check out is porcupine tree they are very underrated but if the mars volta comes to my toronto i nwill go see them.

  • @FireCracker9996 your a douche bag

  • #themarsvolta2011

  • #themarsvolta2011

post on twitter. its a Volta revolution

  • @FireCracker9996 he's puerto rican you racist asshole

  • @FireCracker9996 He's American. Born in California. That's not Mexico. Sorry.

And, this is better than that shit you here on the radio. I'd rather listen to autistic kids whine than sluts moan.

  • @vismundcygnus01 Wasnt he born in El PASO TEXAS?

  • @kidkrim No, I'm fairly sure he's born in Redwood City, California.

Either way, he's American, and that guy is still a racist asshole.

  • Omar got possessed by God at 4:00

  • @Stroker221 HOLY SHIT

    THAT WAS INSANE

  • Who is the worst singer I've ever heard??

I'd have to say it's Cedric, he's SOOO bad, he's actually great!! Seriously, his fucking messy voice matches this messy band so good, fucking love you guys to death!!! My second favorite album of all time is Frances the Mute!! :D Keep up with all that shit, it's so bad, I need it, even if that makes no sense, lol.

Greetings from a fellow and SUPER fan from Mexico!! :D

(Oh, and I hope to see you soon at any shows, I SERIOUSLY hope you come soon!:D

  • @handyguy007

He actually has a very clean voice...you obviously haven't been to one of their shows

  • @handyguy007 wtf? your stupid. tmv's one of the greatest bands alive. and thats counting how musicly inclined they are. their playing style is just different.

  • @GroovyAnthropomorph thank you, you're very right. They ARE one of the greatest bands alive and one of my favorite bands.

  • @handyguy007 That was the strangest thing I've ever read, sir.

:D Kepp up with all that shit, it's so bad, I need it, even if that makes no sense, lol.

Greetings from a fellow and SUPER fan from Mexico!! :D

  • FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Seen them live twice, and they are coming back to Sydney this year, SEEING THEM AGAIN! CANT WAIT!

  • @freppywill007 I'm gonna go crazy at Enmore

  • Their music is organised chaos.

  • I can't imagine these guys as a local band,. Ever.

  • @DL345 they never were. This is a branch off of Cedric's and Omar's band At the Drive-In, who were huge. ahahaha.

  • @Fortress6661 yeeeah I remembered that after posting this.

  • @DL345 haha,I like your comment

  • @DL345 Listen to At The Drive-Ins first ep, it's pretty rough. Lol

  • @DL345 Check out At the Drive-In playing in classrooms or the TMV videos from 2001. No matter where they played, they were born rock stars.

  • @DL345 well at the drive in probably gave them starting exposure.

  • @DL345 they were, from my town homie, and proud

  • @sicoticclown lucky

  • Look up Mars Volta Living Room. They have them in a small club. Doing this song.

  • @DL345 i suppose its good they were never a local band then? at the drive-in's popularity basically got them a record deal before their first ep.

  • These guys are nuts

  • Ikey always looks like he's having so much fun.

  • The funny part, Juan the bass player is twice these guys age!

Juan was playing in the hair metal band Racer X back in the 80's (look up scarified 1988 to see a vid)....back when he was just "John".

He's easily 20 years OLDER than these guys.

BTW, what's your dad doing tonight?...bet he's not playing in your favorite band...lol!

  • @transmittance Epic.

  • @transmittance He's 11 years older than Cedric, but I fully understand your point, well put.

  • i seen them live at voodoo and you didn't

  • Really really miss them like this.............

Now Cedrics voices not the same

  • Love seeing bands live, because you can actually hear how they play in real life. Have seen The Mars Volta at the Gorge, WA and they couldn't play a consistent song for the entire hour. Just listen to Cedric on this recording. Not even with all that reverb/chorus and a multi-million dollar production he can hit the notes that you hear in the CDs. Computers doing all the work :/

  • @gzbrambila theres a thing called improv..jam bands..the shows are always different..and most the time cedric is spot on hitting the notes..and there live equipment isnt multi-million dollars..but it is expensive

when u record u take the best take,,so when cedric hits a high note cleanly they are gunna use that not the unclean high notes

these guys play art not standardize music that has to be perfect and generic like a high school symphonic band

  • @tanvo93 it would b boring if it was always the same. why go to a concert just stay home with the cd. i like these lives better

  • @BlueEyes72 exactly and u gatta share the experience with the band of getting lost in the music while they are jammin

  • @tanvo93

as much as i agree.....mars volta will never be this good again. that album is by all means the best one and i'm just not sold on anything they have done since :S

  • @RENN357 i hated cedrics falsetto..it was way to hard to listen too..im gunna see them live pretty soon..so if they do these songs..ill form a better oppinion

  • @AggresivePerfector66 holy shit haha. You misspelled aggressive in your name. I give up. This is why should never try to reply to a youtube comment on your stupid iphone.

  • @AggressivePerfector66 shit I'm high I typed protector instead of perfector hahaha. I agree on Yes. But I def hear Dead and Santana in there

  • @AggressiveProtector66 I don't know, I can see adding Yes in there for sure. But I def hear some Dead influence in there and how can you deny the latin Santana vibe they've got goin on

  • Seeing them this summer! SO EXCITED!

  • it seems to me that The Mars Volta = Led Zeppelin + The Grateful Dead + Santana + Pink Floyd

  • @randeezydizzle replace Dead and Santana with Yes and there's your equation

  • @randeezydizzle

they seem more ATDI + More badass musicians.

  • these guys make me proud to be a mexican american ..

  • 72 people gestate with all the other rats

  • think about it during this whole show they must've been thinking or remembering Julio Venegas :T I mean i still get sad listening to it.....

  • great stuff

  • I love this, but I guess I just enjoy watching bands I like perform live and not over analyzing shit.

  • piano needs to be louder and cedric needs to concentrate on the vocals a little more

  • LIGHTYEARS above RATM

  • the next RATM

  • @fbizzy81 They are LIGHTYEARS beyond that over rated band.

  • @fbizzy81 stfu. your disgracing The Mars Volta.

  • @fbizzy81 I love both bands, but i see very little in common between them.

  • great band!

  • this song is great on album, but live i really dont like it...why because singers voice breaks many time's...

  • @grungrlistener but everything else ig soooo goood right..guitar bass keys DRUMS!! and he actually does sound very good in this concert.

  • @eamnr14 i agree about instrumental stuff,it's awsome..but for me singer is worst part of this...to much forsing on the high notes..

  • @grungrlistener dude i thought his singing was crazy man. it sounds just like on the record and you know how hard that must be switching between that high pitched voice and the deeper voice.

  • @added23 he has great voice,no doubt...i know is hard to sing this song but let's be honest he did decent job and it could be better

  • Buy the scab dates album its amazing

  • I just discovered Mars Volta, can somebody tell me the names of some of their best songs? thanks

  • @000theUnforgiven000 try "Day of Baphomets". I won't find it on YT in a good quali so by the album "amputechture"

  • @000theUnforgiven000 Hey, some of my favorite Mars Volta songs are: Drunkship of lanterns, L'via L'viaquez, And Ghosted Pouts and The WIdow. Enjoy :)

  • @000theUnforgiven000 all of them!

  • @000theUnforgiven000 Just get this album, De-Loused in the Comatorium!

  • @000theUnforgiven000 for me its: tetragrammaton, vismund cygnus, vermicide, and every other song they made! greetz

  • For a band as brilliant and musically complex as The Mars Volta, this song is performed pretty damn well live!

  • 4:08 guitar fail

  • @StatikRiot88 idiot.

  • @StatikRiot88 more like guitar win

  • Cedric is hung: 4:53

  • How do you suppose Omar gets that sound out of his guitar in the beginning?

  • i love them live. they look like they are fucked up off lsd lol

  • @Peerez67

    fuckin lol man

  • This guys are just woooow

  • More "outstanding" rock n roll by the "mars Volta". Need to go now and watch grass grow........

  • Nowww I'mmm whoooo.....

  • @argentanaranjado so true. i miss it.

  • They used to have such style.

  • simply beautiful

  • These guys have been a crazy inspiration to treeburning!

  • The number of dislikes xD

  • Who would dislike this? Craziness, I say!

  • Jim Ward has 69 profiles on youtube

  • @smashN

Jim Ward is fucking awesome tho...

  • Omar Rodriguez Lopez hat seit 2009 Elf Alben veröffentlicht, an keines von denen wollte ich mich erfreuen-aber dieser Track aus Mars Volta-Zeiten ist schlichtweg ein HIT.

  • his voice isnt so good, keeps breaking when he tries to hit the high notes. Too many bong hits me thinks. Still love them though :)

  • my fave of Mars Volta :D

  • 69 people hate Christmas.

  • 4:00 bustin out the james brown lol

  • if you like TMV try:

    an other vid of TMV

  • When Omar flipped his guitar around his hip my eyes just opened wider than ever before

  • my greatest wish is to see the mars volta live. i hope that one day, my wish will come true.

  • @barbararodriguez1212

I'd get a second job just to see TMV when they come around... just for the energy alone

  • @barbararodriguez1212 i am!!! this summer!!

  • maxim

  • They all do drugs before they go on stage, thats not stage presence hahhahhaha

  • @Gnomepaste so that's drug pretense leading to stage presence, big deal

  • @Akshay8585 gimme more of your haterade

  • @Profetens here take.. how much do you want? my hatred is rather expensive, more than fuel, how much do you want?

  • @Akshay8585 jacked

  • @Gnomepaste Actually, they stopped doing drugs before shows because they were so burnt out all the time.

  • if you like TMV try

CURVED YELLOW FRUITS - OPENER on youtube...

  • i fucking need to see the mars volta live so bad!!!! 2011 shows c'mon man!

  • @TheVintagemario i've decided as well, i will pay any amounts of money to go to a show this tour. i have a feeling they might not be together too long after this tour to be honest

  • It's PITCH CORRECTION, stop saying auto-tune. It's become so bastardized. Every band, whether you like to believe it or not, uses pitch correction in the studio.

  • @DemonInJerseyCity Does Immolation use pitch correction?

  • I need to go to one of their shows!

  • bahahaha, actually cedric is mexican bud. and Omar was born in Puerto Rico, so close enough.

  • unknown and similar. youtube:

    CURVED YELLOW FRUITS - OPENER

  • I can't get over him dancing and his guitar flip at 4:06.. gotta love the Volta

  • What's the guitar effect used at the beginning? seems to prolong or extend the notes played in a high pitch...

  • @sonetlumiere85 i do that same thing all the time its a digitech whammy set on 2 oct up then into a line 6 delay unit on auto volume delay with the mix set to 100 percent fun for hours!!

  • @sonetlumiere85 I think it's the Line 6 MM4. Blue box thingy.
