  • Great song - man I remember when this was on the local rock station all the time! I still think of it - very catchy. I doubt they still play it.

  • Gary Richrath.....please phone home....and how do ya make a les paul sound sooooo good.....I am almost 50 now and still listen to REO almost daily....Not really into the stuff after high infidelity but the albums prior are pure gold.....one of the best live bands ever, when gary was around.......Heck Im soo old I remember Regis......

  • j'aime cette chanson !

  • balancepiston: I have a good friend who has been their manager for 10 years. I have met them roughly 10 times in the past 4 years. I saw them in Boston, Connecticut, and Phoenix, including 2 weeks ago with my 13 year old son (start them off correctly, I say!!!!)

  • @Drglburr thats really neat, lucky to get a chance to talk to these talented guys

  • Great song/video thx

  • This song is why i love drug culture songs.

  • REO screwed Gary over

  • Bruce Hall replaced Greg Philbin for the TunaFish album, so Nine Lives would be his second album as the bass player for REO. This is a great song. I have asked the current members of REO why they do not play this song live in concert, and no one has an answer. I can only hope.

  • @Drglburr where did you meet REO at?

  • doug you know your REO Speedwagon, lol

  • @balancepiston This is also the first album in which Bruce Hall appeared as the bass player for the group, taking the bass duties from original bass player, and founding member, Greg Philbin.

  • it is true that kevin cronin made reo what they are, but so did gary richrath. no gary no reo, mistake cutting that talented songwritter and guitarist

  • this song is about slinging coke

  • @balancepiston And getting caught in the process.

  • when did this album come out, was it before or after tune a piano?

  • @balancepiston After, the Nine Lives album appeared in 1979, almost a year after tune a piano.

  • I'm a fan of all of Gary Richrath's songs !

    Gary Richrath forever !

  • I thought this was the song for the Rodney Dangerfield Movie "Easy Money" but I think Billy Joel performed the song for the movie.

  • Great tune!!!....brings back memories!!!

    Great album!!

  • i like reo but i not this song.

  • i like reo but i dont care for this song.

  • To this day....this is still my personal favorite song of all time!!!! This album has never been put on cassette, CD :( so I have carried around this album, like it was gold!!! Just saw them on the STYX tour........they were awesome and can still rock!!!!

  • @nieuru this was on cassette, I had it. my brother in law who is now around 50y/0 gave it to me when i was a kid and i'm now 40. it was the only song on the tape i listen to and almost wore it out rewinding it over and over

  • Never get tired of this song.

  • he opened up my guitar hello prison yard pure poetry

Glad someone started posting these Nine Lives songs.

  • Welcome back Blair!!

  • a subtle warning of the risks involved for the adventurous young businessmen of yester-year. 'nuf said.

    excellent tune!!!

  • Good, and often forgotten song when it comes to REO, one of my favs off the Nine Lives album.

  • @Doug4422 where is kevin cronin at 1:46?

  • He's not . . . this is the front cover of the Lost in a Dream album, during which time, REO was fronted by Michael Murphy (No relation to the country singer of the same name), Cronin would come back after the release, and very bad sale of this album, and has remained with the band ever since.

  • @Doug4422 I'm only 22 years old, and REO Speedwagon is one of my all-time favorite bands! I have all of their albums on CD and most of them on LP. I think my favorite REO album is probably R.E.O./T.W.O. ALL of their albums are AWESOME though (even their albums from the 90s and their 2007 album "Find Your Own Way Home". That may be my least favorite album, but It's not too bad.

  • @Doug4422 I also know about the singers changing on the first few albums. Terry Lutrell was on the first album (which I like to call "The Firetruck album"), Kevin Cronin was on R.E.O./T.W.O, then on Ridin' The Storm Out, Lost In A Dream, & This Time We Mean It was Michael Brian Murphey, then on the R.E.O. album (which I call "The branded cow album"), Kevin Cronin came back, and he's been lead singer ever since, and still is to this day! :)

  • Who cares where he is . which one is better Kevin or Gary.

  • @Doug4422 you are right, this song didnt get its due respect
