Mongols and Turks have a long history, that goes far back to the roots of Altaic and Siberian history. We are two big major groups of the Turanic people. Our languages are even related. Modern Turkish of course is very different, but Qipchaq Turkic, like Tatar and Bashkort is very related. For example "yurt" means house in Tatar, "altin" is Tatar for gold, Mongolic is "altan", "urda" is camp in Tatar in Mongol it's "ord". As a Qipchaq Törk you can never easily say if you are Turc or Mongol.

damn. wrote "thoughts" instead of "my thoughts" at the last line. great kalmyk mongol song. very humane. is he remembering his dead mother or is it a soldier on a distant campaign missing his faraway mother? reminds me of the "golden horde parchment" (written 1240) which is a mongolian poem about a Mongol soldier in Europe missing his mother in Mongolia and vice versa.

That's the core of your problem, having multiple standards for everything. Massacre is still a massacre and it's wrong, even if it's done by the Ottoman or Chinggis Khaan or Tamerlane. But my respect still go for Chinggis Khaan due to his religious tolerance towards other communities. Most of Mongols assimilated with the local Turkic populations. How come you have the Jannisaries system where small children were abducted and trained as military which violated human right?

Mr Bozokkurt, the Ottoman is not entirely blameless my friend. They initiated the subjugation process of Europe and that involved the massacre of innocent too. Moreover, there was a policy in the Ottoman court that any prince assumed the throne will murder all his brothers to eliminate any potential rebellion. At least Chinggis Khaan's empire did not implement such brutal policy. The Ottoman was not fully innocent, they are pros and cons.

Chinggis Khaan was a Mongol and his generals leading the armies had always be Mongol. Yeah, I agreed with certain Turkic tribes in the armies too but the significant majority were Mongols.
