I mean, I don't really want someone taking my liver because I didn't have a shell on.

@UrbanBikeBags just started wearing helmets (i have many that i neglected for quite a while) after a huge accident. i was going well over thirty, had to take a wide left to avoid a car, avoided the car, hit the curb though, and my body horizontally got wrapped around a pole... a thick metal one, safe to say i was rushed to the hospital, i was riding with a friend luckily. it was a miracle for my still living, and my bike is perfect. But it def scared me enough to want to wear a helmet.

@carfreak213 Your frame follows the geometry called lo pro. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just a different kind of frame, which especially is used in old school track racing. You can't raise your top tube, but if you have a smaller front wheel then rear wheel, you can change the front wheel, so your top tube in that way gets less oblique.

@ratm239 Check out the Torker U-District. $350. It's a "bargain" Redline, so a decentish bike. Few shops have one. Nearly ANY shop can get one for you.

For $400 you can get a Republic in colors you choose. Save up a few more bucks and you can get it with a chrome-moly frame.

Very little street cred for these bikes, but they'll get you riding on something that isn't total crap, and that's the important thing.
