  • Why can't people make music like this today?

  • These comments are so true, the music is relaxing. Mom can I stay up and watch 20/20?

  • NYC TAXI

  • I love watching reruns of Taxi in the middle of the night, when I'm half asleep and just about to get off the couch and into bed. The intro/outro music and visuals are amazingly soothing and relaxing. When "Good night Mr. Walters....Hmmm" runs by, it's lights out!!

  • @SternSuperManiac i know just how you feel.

  • and what about love for BIG BLUE!

  • Good night Mr. Walters MMMM!

  • I believe this was from a retrospective special shown on NBC in the Spring of '83. After four years on ABC, the show was axed and picked up by NBC for it's fifth (and final) season.

And, I love hearing the "goodnight, Mr. Walters" line again. A fixture of my childhood. Immediately after that and the Paramount logo, Hugh Downs would appear, which meant it was 10:00, 20/20 was starting, and it was time to go to bed. Just hearing it now makes me wonder if I remembered to do my homework, lol.

  • @evad41 There are so many people who feel exactly the way you do. It's cool to know there are other people who share that sentimentality. It's weird how we think when we're kids----but back then I thought "Mr. Walters" was Walter Matthau. ha ha crazy

  • @evad41 yeah, same here.My mother would let me stay up to watch it when i was a kid.I'd struggle to stay awake until the end credits.

  • I always liked the ending:

    NIGHT, MR. WALTERS!

    MM-MM!

    NICE!

  • My favorite " jazz " ..piece of all time, as soon as you here it (if you are over 35 ),,,it takes you back to a special place in time and you instantly " Remeber".....The good ole days!!!!!!!!!

  • Im 17 years old... And i relax to this stuff too... I got alot of Old music (even from 1890: blues) I started diggin in funk/soul music when iwas around 15/16 years old! I got 280 LP's in my possesion... So you dont need to be over 35 yo!

I now got around 25GB of old music from 1890 until 1990 + those LP's!

Dont want to listen to that bullshit on TV nowadays....

  • Awesome piece of music! Love this tune. Also, I think that's Tony Danza behind the wheel there...

  • Thanks for posting, papa

  • Its so lovely.

  • lol at 0:42

  • When I was young, I remembered liking this one much.

  • I hated this music when I was a little child, but now I love it.

  • Like the extended outro version. Nicccccce! :)
