When did they do this one.? Or was this never out I watched it every day from day 1 till day 97 it ended with same never returned home al and his wife , Beth, married had 4 kids and will celebrate their 40th anniversary in June ( which was in 93)
@sambora123 ya know, for furthur satasfaction i took a look in slow mode as to whether or the lightning was attraction to the shock treatment or to the leaping. I thought about it, and concluded the lightning is what triggers the leaping, and never gets showed any other ep
It was supposed to be an end-of-season cliffhanger, but then they were suddenly cancelled so they had to re-edit the episode into a finale. Screw NBC!
you know the reason sam could not go home well because you know going back in time and doing all that well it messed the space time cont ........ you know i think if sam would have quit helping people well i think he would have gone home. but you know also if sam wanted to go home well someone could have leaped in to him when he had to leap in to al to save him if someone doesent mind being back there or swiching on and off.
There were quite a few episodes after that. It ended with Sam meeting God/Space/Time who told him that Sam was leaping himself around in time. Sam proved it by saving Al's marriage to Beth which is where it ended.
If you are talking about a few episodes where he did travel outside of his own lifetime, then yes okay. But the first time he did it was to get Al out of a situation, and the second leap was in his great grand father I believe. Captain John Beckett.
Yes and I remember when that show aired for season 5, I almost fell outta my chair, I think if Im not mistaken he leaped to 1863 right in the civil war, not sure if anyone else agrees but I found the writing for this show and the episodes better at the end, even though it was running for five years already, seems like the show was just starting to find itself, and when the show ended with him changing Als life with Beth, what an amazing story line that had...ashame he never returned home
At the end of Season 5 in the original script written, Quantum Leap lost contact with Sam who had leapt beyond his own lifetime. So he could have travelled back further.
@dogdrop Season 5 was the final season, and the reason I know this is because my mother has all of the season box sets of Quantum Leap, and in the final episode,Sam Beckett never leaped home.
Play It Again, Seymour is also set before his birth date but that may have been accidental because it is a few months off and it is not revealed as a plot point.
The Leap Back is set in 1945 but that is because Al leaped, he is older then Sam.
I remember the Civil War episode but not the early 1900s episode.
Also why didn't Sam travel into his own future at any point, on the final episode they said it was possible. Plus the show isn't one for continuity.
This version of the theme song was used in the final season. The original version of the theme song was only used in the final season once, and that was during the series finale.

1952? Sam was born in 1953 so he couldn't leap to 1952.

The show went off the air when they were trapped in a building with two evil female versions of themselves, were there episodes after that?

If you are refering to Sam traveling further back into the 1900's and so on, he can't considering he can only travel within his own life time.

except he DID travel outside his own lifetime... twice.

@dogdrop There was one episode where he traveled back and helped an ancestor of Martin Luther King.
racefan32 1 year ago
@racefan32 And that was in the 1800's because the machine he built accidentally leaped him within his grandad's own timeline.
haydos271 1 year ago
@smilinbob1234 As far as I remember Sam has twice traveled before his birthdate
.
Once when he went to the Civil War. They said it was because he had leaped into his great-grandfather and therefore they shared the same lifeline
.
Another time he leaped to early 1900s, again through an ancestors' lifeline
.
In the final episode he leaped to his actual birthday and met God, who gave him power to leap anywhere. But alas the show got canceled
.

You could be thinking of the voiceover intro at the beginning with the woman telling the viewers about Quantum Leap:
Theorizing that one could time travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished ....
That one!
