I've been looking for Andy Cohen for twenty five years, so please Don't go the F anywhere. Listened to Andy and Joe LaRose at the Green Dragon Inn on Blackhawk Island in the middle of a long Wisconsin winter and have never forgotten it. That's about how long I've been looking for their rendition of "Hillbilly Express" also. I had a cassette tape of it recorded from "Simply Folk" back then, it was amazing, but finally gave up the ghost. Anybody, does it still exist somewhere?
Great job dude! I love hearing variations on great songs like this. It makes me smile when I see people leave comments on stuff like this that say "THIS ISNT MLR!"
Great Job Andy!! I have a cd by Andy doing all Rev Gary Davis tunes on the Riverlark lable, it's really great, one of my favorites. If you like this I suggest you get a copy. Thanks for posting the video
I have to say it is nice playing but...but for the description and your comment at the end, I would not have recognised it as Maple Leaf Rag either...see the earlier comment.
He's playing the arrangement of the late finger-picking great, Reverend Gary Davis, not Joplin's original. Interpretations like this are a fresh change from Joplin's already solidly-constructed original. *****
did andy cohen ever study under rev gary davis?

He plays in the style of Rev. Gary Davis who interpreted the piece.
