  • good work

  • hi monsterrailroad

  • @GoTransitFP7 HI man. :)

  • monsterrailroad sucks

  • @GoTransitFP7 I know doesn't he? He sucks! I agree.

  • Great work dude. Please keep them coming :-)

  • very nice painting :)

  • excelente temporizado,

  • nice

  • OMG i saw the real Santa Fe warbonnet Dash 8-40CW today but it was only renumbered to 671 not re painted at all

  • How do you fade the paint?

  • NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like how you found a picture to model after... most of the time people just get happy with the paint and it ends up not looking prototypical, even for a railroad like southern pacific... excellent job... well done

  • Thats a Damn Good Job!

  • i just raped a cat

  • wow you can not tell the difference form the picture to engine

  • looks GREAT, but i would've made the orange paint not weathered, but faded just enough to lighten the shade

  • Great work! I do this stuff in N Scale. I would tone that orange AC unit down a little though too shiny. MODEL RAILROADING RULES!

  • hey how did you get the red on the nose to look silver. paint? or did you scratch off untill you got the base coat of silver?

  • Wow very impressive detailed work!

  • Hi big al ive just purchased an sd40-2w wich cn was the only road with it anyways its a blue box loco an older blue box and my quieston aswell as request is would you be able to make a vid showing how you removed the fans im thinking of replacing the fans and the preveous owner used a black marker to darken the windows how do i make them clear again thanks buddy :)

  • Nice weathering on the dash-8

  • Hey I love your work man. I'm diggin the weathered BNSF D8-40CW bro. Do you have a weather Santa Fe D8-40CW?

  • @kfangz i am doing one in the next coming week

  • @MonsterRailroad sweet I cant wait to see it. My names kelby by the way

  • Let me know if I can send you my dash8 to do. I need one of them engines. I have 175 different locomotives (all diesel modern) but not one faded BNSF.

  • Al I'm feelin that faded paint BNSF loco. Can you do mine just like it? I need you to hit me up.------- JAY.

  • @BLKdurangoTRAINhorns It is one of my most popular requested loco to recreate actually. I am doing one again soon. I have an Atlas Dash 8-40CW with sound in stock here and I am going to weather it similar to that one but it will be in CN repaint. It will be sold for more than $275 though because I paid $175 for the engine alone.

  • Oh I got a sd75i but if u could still use it

  • Idk I dropped 80on the sd75 and 100 on the dash8 but I need a new decoder in the dash8 which one you need?

  • I just bought both of those bnsf engines at my train Show the same exact ones ha

  • @metallicafan3113 Yo man I NEED one like crazy! will you sell me one? I am working on a similar project for CN railroad.

  • DAM Al weathering to the Extreme.....BUT looks great ! later

  • Absolutely wicked weathering! Love it! Your videos show me what is missing on my layouts!

Thanks From Down Under in Australia!

  • Does it work

  • that power u weathered an was gonna sell did u sell it yet if not how much are u askin for it

  • Beautiful job

  • Incredible work. You really are good with weathering trains. Great job bud.

  • @SaltineCrackaAss Thanks crackaassSaltine! LOL

  • The weathering is excellent! When you go to the train show, you should bring a "clean" one to display beside the weathered one to compair the two.

  • This is SUPER FINE WORK, young man! You're quite a modeling artist! You should refine your videos and sell them as how to do weathering for your older and less able comrades like me! GREAT WORK! powerful! NgaiOlaudah

  • nice vid would u weather my csx ac6000cw? just wanted to no.

  • This is amazing!

  • Great work, I enjoy your videos. Your attention to detail is amazing. Question: Is the original train in the photo simply weathered, or is DA sanded and ready for the paint shop?? Keep up the good work.

  • can u install dich light on n scale

  • Nice work - thanks for the update

  • Looks like the BNSF went to hell and came back some how!!

  • Wow that is amazing dude ! 5*****

  • thats awesome. i wish i could detail like that

  • nice work

  • That is just so cool! Would you ever wish to model any of my rolling stock?

  • Im just wondering, do you paint fictional railroads such as "Illinois Southern" from the movie "The Fugitive"?

  • Excellent weathering job !!! I've been on many MRR forums an remember your screen name. Please keep up the good work. Very good modeling work and I hope your business goes far.

  • i think thats some of the best weathering work i have ever seen! unreal!

  • Nice I love the units

  • hope u renumbered the ns sd70m because the fisrt 10 sd70m's ns received, 2581-2590 didnt hav flared radiators. all the others did, the real version of urs does not have flareds

  • Did you airbrush this model?

  • Wow! That is a heavy weathering job on the BNSF engine! What did you use for that? Chalk or paint? I haven't really done anything in the way of weathering yet. That NS engine looks like it's gonna be great!

  • simply perfect man nice work keep it up

  • looks great, how did you get the faded look? i noticed a haze of grey

  • I have a Santa Fe #919 kind of like your BNSF but with just a BNSF patch and no big BNSF letters

  • that looks amazing good job keep up the good work and the videos helping me out lots with doing my railroad 5*****

  • Once again u did it right!

  • dang dude you are insaine thats crazy freakin good job 5 stars

  • no you can get them in walmarts craft section they r made by elmers (the glue company) the box says painters markers or pens

  • Increadable man, just increadable.....

What is that oraange paint pen? is that the Testers Orange?

  • Great job!!!!!

  • is dis ho scale

  • Yes it is dawg

  • @MonsterRailroad no disrespect you look like ice cube / nice train

  • great video as always al, hey i tried something differant i weathered a few cars with wood stains differant colors i was surprised how they come out really nice they are oil based stains and more of a pain in the ass to used but the outcome is pretty good...j

  • how do you install a decoder

  • Great work on the weathering, looks like crap just like the real thing. Hate how BNSF has let those warbonnets go like that but you have captured the look perfectly.

  • Awesome i finished waeathering my CNW C40-8W last night the trucks look almost identical to yours.

  • SO AWESOME!

  • Another cool way to get this effect (I dont know if this is what you did) is to spray primer over the red, then remove the grey with a toothbrush, water and lava soap. the lava soap acts as an abrasive, like very fine sand, and removes the unwanted gray. I tried this on a cheap caboose though and might not be great for an expensive engine.

  • Excellent weathering job on the C40-8W!

  • wow!

  • Very cool! 5*****! Did you custom do the SD70M radiator flares or is it a kit to modify the 'regular' SD70M's ?

  • I had to kitbash an athearn Genesis SD70M. I bought the flared and phase II kits from DLH Locomotive

  • That turned out great! 5*

  • Nice work man, I hope to use your videos as a guide!

  • GOOD JOB!

  • Hey If you get a chance could you show us how you fade the logo's like you did to the BNSF on the side of the dash 8.

  • Yes I will. I will do a FADING ONLY video on many items. Send me a PM after reading this for a reminder to me

  • Hot bnsf

  • Very nice work!!!!

  • he al do you think you could do my warbonnet like that

  • Of course I could, BUT I could also show you how you can do it too.

  • ya but i dont have any airbrushes or onything ill pay you

  • show us all how!!

  • Al, that BNSF locomotive is really great. You made it look just like the Santa Fe engine in the picture. Your weathering is fabulous and never stop at what you do.

  • What scale is this?

  • H to the Izz O scale

  • NICE!!!

  • LOL jay-z

  • great job love bnsf just spent time at cajon pass you would love it

  • I hear u shakin that can..uve got the artist itch.. nice job with the weathering..that engine will look good in consist, at a shop or sitting on a siding.

  • WOW! That is a 5 star model! Great work!

  • Wow that is just unbeliveable

  • That came out damn good!

  • do you have an ebay store? cause i wouldn't mind checking that shit out LOL

  • wow you weather really good, damn nice job on that BNSF loco. i really like your NS one too, nice job!

  • Thanks dawg! The BNSF loco stays at my office with me for the week. I share my work with the patients BUT these idiots ALL feel the need to pick my shit up when it is sitting on the shelf when they are registering with me. How annoying is that shit. My SD40-2 was here for a bout a month 7 from being handled the handrails broke so I had to replace them. people do not know how to look and not touch, Not one of them asked to pick it up. Twice today people picked up the BNSF engine.

  • haha where do you work? if you dont mind me asking. Ive seen ur other videos too, i wish i could weather my stuff that good lol...jeeze...that must take you a lot of time huh? you should put the engines u have in your office in a case...id be wicked pissed if someone picked up someithng like that without asking. I get mad enough when people pick up my n scale stuff, let alone an easily 200+ dollar peice of beautiful work lol.

  • Ya it is agravating when people pick your things up. I was displaying a live steam loco one time and a guy went to pick it up and burned himself. He said AHHH thats hot I said du its a steam loco. I still laugh to myself when I think of it.

  • hey where or how did you get the flared radiator for the sd70m?

  • Look in one of my other videos but the sellers company name is DLH loco and they have the flared radiators for $17

  • Hey I saw you at the train expo in Hartford!

It was nice, I bought a HO scale Dash 8 40 cw in Santa Fe paint.

  • Good job on that one man..

  • I hate those orange air conditioners on the santa fe engines because the stupid repair guys put whatever colored air conditioner they want

  • Hey we just had those MNRA guys check out our O Scale 2 rail layout at Saint John's in Stamford. i look forward to see your stuff at the show.

  • Yes I had about 50-60 visitors to my layout today!! It was so fucking fun!! I will make a new video soon of my plaque!

  • I live in new york, i'mma cum down there next weekend? what time?

  • Next weekend? OK Saturday or sunday but as long as it is after 1pm you may come anytime. Just let me know what day and time and I will be here dawg! Al

  • Nice weathering job those locos look sweet.

  • WOW Very nice job congratulations 5*¡¡

  • Are you selling any units?

  • I love your work...it's amazing. I just finished a B40-8 in NS myself...do you think you could weather it? Just lightly...

  • how did the tour go! as far as the engine goes, HOLY SHIT!!! thats awesome. just promise me one thing, dont thow that one too, PLEASE! hey also, if your on ebay, whats your EBAY username :D awesome video!

  • My ebay username is historyoflegend

  • oh ok, iare you selling anything right now?

  • Dude that's awesome!!!!!

  • Awesome work!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow you are really, really good at this. Good luck with NMRA!

  • Damn I cant get over how good that Warbonnet looks! Dank stuff man.

  • Very nice models! How much are you going to sell that NS for?

  • what kind of glue do you use?

  • your awsome al. neat that you bought one locmotive just to take out its parts for other power neat canabalizm. wish i could come out. but i dont know what im doing january 8th 2010. nah its alright dawg we all make mistakes nah i wish i could make it but i cant. nice weathering and detailing.

  • Yea well it was not cheap. Taht dumb Sd75M cost $55. The only decent thing is that I used the three fans on the Flared section, I used the motor to install in the Athearn SD45T-2 now it has a perfect motor and I used the cab for the Phase II project. So I guess ir was not too bad since it was used for three things

  • think of it this way if you had used an SD40-2 for that canabalism it would be more realistic to what there doing now.

  • Hello Al,

If anybody is interested I got a new motor from an athearn genesis SD60M newer release still on the base with the wheels and truck sideframe if anybody needs the parts I can sell if for a good price if u wanna a good motor + parts misc

  • how much plus are you in america or australia

  • $35 Canadian I am in Canada btw

  • What an AMAZING model!! Do the ditchlights work?

  • Yes they do

  • Fantastic job on both locomotives! I must say, that is one of if not, THE best weathered locomotive i have ever seen. Once again, GREAT job!!!

  • What? thans dawg!

  • hey i was wondering how you would make like a mountain for a layout. couyld u help?

  • no offense but i think it's too weathered:(

  • Go to Railpictures d o t c o m and then click Dash-840CW engine choice then Fallen flags Santa Fe Railroad and you will find the picture I used to do this. You can look at it much better and see that it is actually like that. I only added a bit more rust streaks thats all. But that is why it is a good one to model because it is so fucked up. :)

  • .net maybe?

  • Although I am not a big fan of the Warbonnet paint scheme I must say that you brought the locomotive to life, you're very skilled, thanks for sharing.

  • You know what? I actually not a big fan of the War Bonnet either! I didnt like it at all but as time has passed I have grown fond of it and I own about four engines with that paint scheme. I have 2 BNSF Dash 8-40CW and 2 BNSF SD70Macs. Thanks for the comment!

  • what made you not like the warbuddies? they kept there red paint so good up until now.

  • I dont know. The War Bonnets were kinda boring to me at first but now I like em!

  • welll thats cool. so when is your coolness going to show up in kansas city to see trains.

  • I like the BNSF. Did you sand the letters down, and the faded front? Rust up the handrails, and man it would be a moving rust bucket.

You got me wanting to do another engine.

  • The letters were not sanded this time however I do usually sand the, but this time I used a mix of acrylic WHITE, A drop of RED and a drop of BLACK. It is ALWAYS a trial and error to get the correct color and I could NEVER show people how to match a color or get close. I am shocked and surprised that I got that close myself!! For real!

  • your work is sick. i would love to see your layout in person. i am currently building my first. a 12X6 totally random vally. my wife calls it bubblegum valley due to the pink foam i am using for the mountians.

  • im using pink foam on my layout too

  • I have used just about all forms of building on my layout. I used chicken wire, cardboard, Newspaper rolled and taped and pink foam and my favorite technique is definitely the foam but for difficult areas i prefer using rolled newspaper covered by plaster cloth. That works and looks good too!

  • Al, good to see you back. Looking forward to more videos. Great weathering job on the BNSF.

  • do u wether outher pepoles trains if thay pay

  • insane work man and finally i vid :)

  • btw, your work is INSANE!!!!!

  • hey im going to post a vid about my new Bachmann ( its a good brand, good detail, but cheap for my budget) EMD GP40, Alaska railroad. i hope you will watch it and see what you think about putting a ditch light on each side of the coupler. please let me know, i could use a genius' insight!

  • Oops! I removed my comment to him too, I thought he was being a dick in his comment. Al gets jerks all the time saying stupid shit about his techniqes. This is a great hobby and it pisses me off when people put it down. My bad to Vaft1991.

  • Next time just ask for clarity before you start the hate

  • Wow! Excellent weathering job! "Copy N Paste" means you weathered it almost exactly like the one in the picture. Not a bad thing.

  • Oh ok . I didnt think it was a bad thing but I was wondering what the hell was he talking about with that. LOL Its just how I asked I guess.

  • lol copy paste paint job

  • Hmmmm? What the hell is you talking about?

  • Its such a good Job its like you just did a copy paste thing...... WHO THE HELL CALLED ME A DICK?!

Thx for clearing the hate up GP9

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome job! Glad you're back!

  • Al, Glad to see you back! The more important thing is that you are enjoying what you are doing.

  • I am enjoying and I have ALWAYS enjoyed model railroading. Thanks
