I did a google search for MGM logo or something.

I'm afraid not. You need a tool such as adobe after effects or sony vegas that allows you to use multiple layers. This is essentially 2 layers ontop of eachother with the top layer having a hole in it letting you see my faithful cat, Shackleton, underneath.

Moviemaker lets you do basic effects and editing, but nothing like this.

Adobe After effects is very expensive (several hundred dollars). Of course, you can download it from the internet although this isn't legal. I have made a similar video using Cinelerra which is entirely free and can be downloaded from the internet, but unfortunately it only runs on Linux.

Good call Possum. The Adobe site lets you download a trial version of after effects too, so people can play around with it for 30 days to see what it's all about. After 30 days they can always uninstall and reinstall I guess.

What I did was, I got a photo of the normal MGM picture with the lion and put it into after effects. I then cut a hole around where the lion was (a mask) and had a layer underneath with my cat.

Hello. I used adobe after effects. You can use photoshop to change the writing if you want to make it even more original. A few people have asked for a tutorial, I promise, i'll make one as soon as I can.

The basic idea is that you get a photo of the logo and essentially cut a hole out where the lion is and have your video underneath.

I used a program called Adobe After Effects. I used it to effectively cut a hole where the lion was and then play the video of my cat in the layer behind. I then played a lion roar wav file at the point when my cat was yawning.
