@geoflasher@geoflasher Haha, you're lucky to have so many theatre-oriented men at your school! We also had to (sadly) cut out Giles Corey due to a lack of XY chromosomes.
Just as a critique here, you might want to think about reactions. Mercy and Mary just kind of stared at the ground for their entire time on stage, no reactions to what was going on at all, especially when Betty got up and started screaming for her mother. They would have been panicking or freaking out themselves, not just standing there. Same would be the case when Abigail threatens them. They act as if they couldn't care less what she has to say.
@prettygraffiti You're welcome. I just figured I'd mention that, since reactions make the characters much more believable. Without them, the show can suffer.
Ann Putnam... Thomas Putnam... these are my ancestors on my mothers side as well as Israel Putnam from The Revolutionary War.... 1776 .... batteling at Bunker Hill.
Are you guys American? We're doing this in drama and im finding it hard to do an american accent :D Thanx for uploading it- i need some inspiration and this is really good!
@tezzapot Yes, we're American! Pretty much everyone in this has a standard American accent, no weird dialect differences. You're welcome, this is so cool! How many parts of ours are you watching? Where are you from?
@prettygraffiti I've watched all of them and im from England. English and American aren't too different but its hard to act dramatic when your focusing on your accent. We're doing this for our school play -I wanted to do mammamia :( and im playing abby
@tezzapot You know, if you think about it, they probably would still have their English accent if you look at it from a historical perspective. The show has American ones just because it's an American play. But I think if you had an English accent, it would still work just fine. (:
@prettygraffiti It surely involves a lot of crying and screaming. I feel so sorry for her. For the firts time in her life she feels as she matters and the everything goes so terrible wrong. You can not blame her for what she does. The judje tells her to confess that she is a witch or she will hang. Abigail sure has them all wrapped arounfd her fingers. Our director has extended the ast scene. Mary stands alone crying and beg God and John to forgive her, she pulls out a knife and kills herself.
@prettygraffiti Not everything just the last scene. John Proctor's death will be symboliset by heartbeats and when they stop Mary kills herself. She can't live with herself after what she has done to so many people. It comes out in the play what happens to Abby and Susannha but not Mary. Our Director didn't think that was fair to her, he wanted to make the audiens understand that she didn't want any of this to happen, but her fears for Abby were too strong, and now she pays for it with her life.
Right, he basically looked over documents from the time and created a fictional story with some of the informtation , like how Elizabeth Proctor's husband was hanged, and she was not because she was pregnant. It was written in the 50's during McCarthyism which affected Miller personally.
you can barley understand them

is this play accurate or just an interpretation of the book or play?
rukonblade 2 years ago
This play is a work of fiction by Arthur Miller.
prettygraffiti 2 years ago
Which is based on true events.
Although Miller changed many things about the real people eg Abigail was a lot younger than how we see her in the play.
