Jesus does not say the rich man is taken immediately to an eternally burning hell. He says the man dies and is buried. People are buried in a grave and covered with earth. Neither did Jesus say the rich man sleeps until the day of resurrection. Listen to the words of Lord Jesus which says those who believe in Him will NEVER DIE.

Physically the body dies but the soul never dies. That is what to be raised in Christ means. The resurrection is yet to happen

Now the soul of the dead will be carried by angels to the Paradise for Christians. But for the unbelievers, the soul will be dragged by demons of Hell into Hades. I have heard several accounts of dying people who saw demons looked like horse face or ox face waiting for the soul of the unbeliever to leave the body. These demons will drag the soul to hell. Soul is our intellectual being which is our memory bank, every consciousness is in the soul.

i see mediums all over the tv 'contacting' the dead, that doesnt make its treu the bible says they are contacting Demons who act like dead familymembers why? because the dead 'sleep'.. its clear in the Bible,your pastor is saying that but that doesnt make it treu unless he can prove it CLEARLY with biblical verses.. @serasra The soul is an eternal part of man. Only God can kill the soul. OT uses Soul as referring to man and not its spiritual soul. If a soul can die, then what is the Lord Jesus talking about in Matt 10:28?

Of course the resurrection of the dead has not occurred except Lord Jesus Christ who is the firstborn of the resurrected from the dead. Now resurrection of the dead shall have spiritual body like angels who is immortal and can change to physical body. While the soul does not die, it will reunite with our new body upon resurrection. That is taught by our Pastor which I believe it is logical.

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, TODAY shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Paul mentions about the bodily resurrection of the dead. Every man and woman has new spiritual body. But Lord Jesus did not say about the resurrection of the dead. He said the beggar died and the Angels CARRIED him to Abraham's bosom. So you are wrong to interpret it as resurrection as ANGELS are carrying or escorting the soul of the dead immediately after death.

Since God's promise of the land of Canaan was forever, it is an eternal inheritance and includes eternal life.
