@FantasyLegacy - Several colleagues of mine were there. Bret did not show up for any rehearsals he was supposed to attend. When he arrived just before the show, stage crew DID walk him through it, and specifically told him to book his ass upstage before the flat descended. Other performers warned him as well.
It is the actor's 1st job to show up for rehearsals! Stage crew aren't babysitters. Several hundred performers were navigating that stage, and he's the only one who got a concussion.

He suffered a concussion (not a "major brain issue"). I'm pretty sure the years of substance abuse had nothing to do with Bret's brain issues =P
PS - there are photos that show the extent of Bret's injuries after stage fell on him..he had a scratch on his nose and a boo-boo on the inside of his upper lip.

It looks like his chest bumped the prop first and stopped him. His head barely touched it. Looks to me like he just got kinda pushed backwards a little. The guy parties so hard! Like he can blame his head trauma on this. Probably the work of a sturdy headboard in a nasty Hollywood hotel.

He obviously won't win. He saw it coming and tried to rush and duck underneath it. Also, he had to know through dress rehearsals that that was coming down. It's his own fault.

the lawyers should use this vid as their defence,Brett was at eye level BEFORE the stage could so call hurt him,if you watch the video Brett makes what I call an actors bump and fall,,he gets bump by somethiong and then fakes the fall.He had PLENTY of time to get out of the way, it looks like he purposely rammed into the wall,like many actors in the news today who would believe a stupid fall like that.the stage wall could of come down and with him standing outside of it,your a fake Brett, duh

Can't simply believe the Stage Managers and Set Coordinators were not looking out for his safety when this set piece came down. I hope this incident ends their careers, this is DESPICABLE!
For those who laugh about this, BELIEVE ME if this would have happened to YOU, you would have SUED.
Have been in theatre management for a while now, IT IS the Stage Manager 1st job to clearly communicate to crew & entertainers and let anybody know of safety hazards on set!!

@FantasyLegacy - Several colleagues of mine were there. Bret did not show up for any rehearsals he was supposed to attend. When he arrived just before the show, stage crew DID walk him through it, and specifically told him to book his ass upstage before the flat descended. Other performers warned him as well.
It is the actor's 1st job to show up for rehearsals! Stage crew aren't babysitters. Several hundred performers were navigating that stage, and he's the only one who got a concussion.

Damnnn All the insults! This could have happend to any of you! This is a very serious injury, Could have been fatal if not dectected and recovery is quite a process by it's self. @SFO14 What are you, blind? I myself cant stand sue crazy people, but that piece of equipment not only flattened him but was a heavy solid structure to boot. It's obvious it was capable of doing serious damage to flat out knock him down the way it did. This law suit is legit.

@SFO14 Even if he did simply walk into it and "fall over", we can't see the full extent of what happened since the camera panned off him. Maybe he cracked the back of his head on the floor. Remember when that happened to Conan O'Brien? And he had a major brain issue! Who can say that Bret didn't get his problems from this stage mishap at the tony's?

@catchifyoucan232 Conan's mishap was a little different. He was running full speed, and was soaking wet. His feet went out from under him and he cracked his head against the floor. He suffered a concussion (not a "major brain issue"). I'm pretty sure the years of substance abuse had nothing to do with Bret's brain issues =P
PS - there are photos that show the extent of Bret's injuries after stage fell on him..he had a scratch on his nose and a boo-boo on the inside of his upper lip.

The stage hands should have been on top of this. When you are performing you are into the moment and the crew should watch out for your safety. The fact that they said he missed his mark his ridiculous and uncaring. THat came down pretty fast on him
