its funny how everybody talked about young and leinart......and Jay Cutler is better than them both put together.....and this is coming from a Lions fan i hate that fucker but he is a beast
You mean the whiner is? Oh well of course VY is the Whiner, last I checked Cam still starts in the NFL. Where is VY.....oh yeah backing up on a 3-5 team.
@blastweather ??????? dude what the hell? this is probably the dumbest thing ive ever heard cam is in his rookie year and hes already putting up numbers that VY has dreamed of putting up
@vcownzraptors who cares about numbers???? vince young won more games his rookie year with no number1 or even a number2 caliber receiver and garbage fat running back lendale white and a crappy defence and they went 8-8 cam has steve smith deangalo williams jonathan stewart and yet they have only won 2 so far??? if jeff fisher would've growd a pair and trust vince young from the start then the titans would be in a better position then they are now and fisher would still have a job
@Damon089 so...... let me put it this way TIM FREAKING TEBOW has won more games this season with the freaking broncos than cam has and tim has only played 4 games cam has played 9
Cam Newton waaaaay better than Vince Young. Why? Cam wants to work and doesn't throw hissy fits, unlike VY. VY was a good player, he won Rookie of the Year and lead the Titans to the playoffs after that, it was his attitude that held him back though.
vince can still play at a high level. he may not be a "franchise" qb, but i still view him as a starter in this league. its gonna be interesting, hell more than likely see significant playing time with the eagles this year with vick being injury prone. it may give him a chance to resurrect his career. hes still only 28. leinart on the other hand is a complete bust.
patient. we made him play from day 1. Titans and Jeff Fisher fucked Vince over. He got Titans football back on the map and was the our hometown hero.
man vince young one of those under apreciated black qb in the nfl.Jeff Fisher didnt want him he had like 3 oc in tennesse so unbelieveble how this gets shafted but alex smith still has a job are u serious
@des696969 Well first off believe it or not I didn't like him playing for the Tennessee Titans and also he such a drama queen like Matt Leinart and Jay Cutler
@metalcorehead wow lol you're comparing vince young to cutler and leinart...? This dude has so much love for the game it's ridiculous and such an amazing athlete..
@metalcorehead You should be greatful for everything Vince did for UT. I know for a fact that everybody misses him in Austin, especially after seeing that abomination of a QB on the field last season. If Gilbert doesn't get it together, he's done being a longhorn.
I don't think VY was a bust at all. He could of been better but all he did was win games. I don't see him with the Titans next year. @Titansfanforlife10 I did too. Also looking at his reaction while on the ground and on the sideline, he even thought it was a season ending injury. After all he had been through, everything seemed to be falling into place for him and we see him get injured, plus it was being reviewed so they kept showing the play. I cringe everytime, but thank God he wasn't injured seriously.

actually he can, he has done that, if you need proof that he cant throw for 200 yards, look at the Arizona game where he threw 300 yards, he's not consistant at throwing for 200 plus yards.
@soccerholden13 Suck my balls look at the Arizona Cardinals game he threw over 300 yards. And he threw 99 ards in about 2-3 min. And the titans are doing better this year then last year. What team do u like? I'm pretty sure they are doing worse then the titans. And don't just pick a team that has a good record right now pick your own team that you like. Vince played well this season getting us back from 0-6 down and winning 8 out of 10 those are the kind of stats that justifies his pick. Hopefully much of the same from Vince next season and he will be in the pro bowl again.
Vince was dissappointed he was drafted by the Texans that draft day, he wanted to play for his hometown. but i do see improvements on Vince, he kind of reminded me of a Steve McNair
yeah i know, i was just telling krump that he wasn't upset at going to the Titans, i think he would've loved Tennessee better too if Steve McNair was there for 2 years.
yeah i know, i was just telling krump that he wasn't upset at going to the Titans, i think he would've loved Tennessee better too if Steve McNair was there for 2 years.
Stupid Texans passed up on Vince over Mario Williams, bacause of this I'm a Titan fan even though I live in Houston. I hate the Texans for passing up on a real Houston Texan born and raised. I proudly wear his Jersey in local sport bars and antagonize Texan fans when Vince is in town. Surprisingly I'm not the only one, there's always a solid group of recent converts rooting for Vince to yet again teach the Texans a lesson for not choosing him. Go Titans!
So you prefer a mediocre NFL quarterback over one of the top defensive ends in the league? That's a great reason to root against your hometown team. Good job.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Mario Williams isn't even the best "defensive" player" on his team let alone the entire team in general. Top best in the league, he's mediocre it's not even funny(for picked #1). Vince is not mediocre, that's an understatement. The Texans haven't even gone to the playoff, something Vince already accomplished. Along with a pro bowl, and Rookie of the Year award. You must be a disgruntled Texan fan, I enjoy rubbing it in every time Vince beats you.
I am actually not a Texans fan and I could not care less what happens to either team. I am an objective observer and my objective opinion is that Vince Young has, so far, been an NFL bust for where he was picked in the draft. He defines mediocrity.
"OBJECTIVE observer and OBJECTIVE opinion." Isn't that redundant? How could a guy be an NFL "bust" when his record is 24 wins with 12 losses in just 36 starts. Not to mention going to the playoff, and winning Rookie of the Year. That sir, does not define mediocrity. Your analytical approach is obviously flawed, with all due respect.
@collectivegooblossom i wouldnt call some1 who brought a team from 0-6 to 8-2 run. hes a above average QB. if u watched his gm he rely had a breakout season. when ppl could stop his pass he ran on him. future of the nfl.
Norm Chow sucks he has UCLA's offense ranked 110 in the nation so far, can you say product of having bush, leinart, white, and countless other nfl players...
Yeah he's a bust a bust. Inherit the starting position after the team started 0-3 and led them to 8-8 his rookie season. Including a six game winning streak and about five fouth quarter comeback victories. Including a 21 point comeback victory against the Giants. Offensive rookie of the year. And made the probowl. 2nd season while playing injured led them to the playoffs. 19-11 as a starter, yeah i'll say he a bust.lol. God is hard being a black quarterback.
also yeah he won some games but the season that the titans replaced him as starter with a supposedly washed up QB they ended up having the best record in the NFL weird isn't it maybe he won those games because he was surrounded by a talented group of players not because he is such a great qb.
I am actually a Minnesota fan and a Jets fan who is really happy we missed out on picking to of the biggest busts at QB recently in Young and Leinart.
yeah whats wrong with that they never play each other and are in different conferences so the only time they would meet is in the Super Bowl in which case i would root for the Jets but be happy if the vikings won
Don't bring race into it. He's a good football player, but he's a bad QB. He's a poor man's Mike Vick. He shouldn't have made the Pro Bowl that year, but he was popular then.
Not hating, I really like him and hope he gets the starting job back and goes crazy, I'm just a realist. Right now, he's a bust.
Bro they had a six game win streak after starting 0-3 with Kerry Colliins as the starter. They beat the colts almost twice that season, had a 21 point comeback victory in the fourth quarter against the giants which he accounted for all the points and made hella plays. The ot run against the texans. And a another handful of victories. All the boy does is win yo.
mario williams has torn up this league as an elite defensive lineman. have you heard any news bout reggie bush, vince young, or matt leinart? oh actually, i have. oh, and its not pretty.
the TEXANS shouldhave drafted him instead of Mario.Houston aint going to compete for a playoff spot for a good 4 years so u might wanna sell some TIXX.ask anyone in TX who they rather have: V.Young(HOMETOWN,HOMEGROWNED kid who they love) or a BACKUP QB WHOS GETTING PAID STARTER MONEY.wouldnt be surprized if they had Vince that every HOMEGAME was a SELLOUT for the next 10 years.
I'm with you on Bush, Davis, Allen, Carpenter and McCargo. I see nothing changing there status as busts. Lawson was on the verge of breaking out and he tore his ACL, so i can't give up on him yet.
Yea,I remember that year he tor his ACL,I was hoping he was gonna have a breakout season, but the worst happened.I agree with you, maybe I should of took in consideration the injury.
It happened in 2007 so he should be fully healed by training camp. I'm very interested to see what Singletary gets out of him this year. But if he does nothing then the bust tag is valid. I can't call Marcedes Lewis a bust because he's used primarily as a blocker and he's one of the better blocking Tight Ends in the league. But if you're using a 1st round pick on a Tight End he needs to do more than block in my opinion.
I agree, you draft a blocking TE in later rounds.I was actually watching this draft live and I felt that he is more of a pass catching TE after what I saw at the Combine.
I don't think Huff is a bust just yet.e had two standout seasons.Sure is not an intercepting safety, but he is a great tackler.I would tag him yet.The 09 season will tell.
Standout seasons, I am a Raiders fan bro and I don't know that he has been standout. If he was a standout at SS why did he get moved to FS?
Why isn't he starting? Why did the team use a 2nd round pick on Mike Mitchell? Why did they trade up in the 4th round last year just to get S Tyvon Branch.
Huff hasn't worked out as a Safety and I think they should give him a shot at CB, but everyone wants to call Gallery somewhat of a bust for not playing Tackle anymore. I bet he doesn't start in 09.
You obviously don't know football,so what if a person switches from SS to FS or Guard to Tackle and vice versa.Every player almost changes their original posititon.Look at Osi Umenyioura,he was drafted as a DT,Terrell Suggs was a DE,now playin OLB.The Raiders are a bad organization for a reason, they make the worst decisions and wont make a player play a position that he might be better at.....If you don't believe the Raiders are a dumb organization, look at their head coach,Cable who?C'mon
Do you know what a Tweener is? Do you know that Terrell Suggs plays both positions of OLB and DE? The 46 defense that Baltimore run and the 3-4 style dictates where he is lined up.
Terrell Suggs would be a DE in the Raiders defensive system, as would most OLB's in a 3-4 system.
If Huff had 2 standout positions at the position of SS, why would they need to move him? You said that he was standout, I disagree.
Answer the question, and don't try to insult me on the internet like 19 year old's do
Actually I'm 19.Yea I know what a tweener is,obviously Suggs can' be a 3-4 defensive end.A 3-4 defensive end weighs 290-320lbs.I said he had a standout season,not a standout player.Raiders are a 4-3 team,so dur,Suggs would be a DE
The Raiders organization is silly, they don't drat for talent just for athletes that look good at the combine, ala Heyward-Bey
I think it's unfair to judge the draft pick until after 3 seasons, unless that player is a QB. QB's should be given 5 years in my opinion, it is a position where historically, the more experienced player is better than the younger player even though the younger player may have a better skill set by comparison.
Heyward-Bey hasn't played a down yet, he could become a great player, time will tell like you said. The last time Oak selected a questionable 1st RD pick, it was Nnamdi Asomugha.
Getting past the Crabtree-Heyward-Bey debate, the thing that was really idotic about the pick is that the Raiders probably could have traded down about ten or fifteen picks and still got him. He was the fourth or fifth rated WR. Why not trade down, save yourself some contract money, get an extra pick in the second round, and still get your guy? The d
Probably could have traded down isn't good enough for me, you take the Bill Walsh approach and select he player you want.
Heyward-Bey was one of the top 3 receivers in the draft.
15 picks, why would a team in the 20's want to trade into the top 10, pay that kind of money, and risk having a holdout considering 8 of the top 12 picks remain unsigned.
You are even suggesting that a team would give up a second round pick just to do so.
Nobody else besides the Raiders thought he was a top 3 WR talent because nobody else judges a player completely on their 40 time. The fact that he's never gone over 800 yards in a season made him more like the fifth or six talent-wise. The Giants and Eagles were both willing to trade up to get Maclin and majority opinion is that Crabtree is a much better player than Maclin. So if the deal isn't back-breaking, you don't think they might have listened to an offer?
Can't count him out yet,the Cardinals basically are babying Warner because Warner said he won't return unless he is guaranteed the starting QB job, which means even if he gets outplayed by Leinart in training camp or the preseason,he still will be the starter which makes the Cardinals playing into politics/favoritism!
d brickashaw is not a bust... hes actually a good lt for the jets and look at his competition 2. davis hasnt had a qb.. whitner is good, who says hes a bust? hes one of the best young ss. ernie sims is a beast 2 who is hurt because hes in the worst d in the league

generationkid 1 year ago
Vince played well this season getting us back from 0-6 down and winning 8 out of 10 those are the kind of stats that justifies his pick. Hopefully much of the same from Vince next season and he will be in the pro bowl again.

Vince was dissappointed he was drafted by the Texans that draft day, he wanted to play for his hometown. but i do see improvements on Vince, he kind of reminded me of a Steve McNair

Texans? You mean Titans?

The Texans had the best draft of any NFL team in 2006 moron. Mario Williams, Demeco Ryans, Owen Daniels, Eric Winston,etc,etc...
texastradition 2 years ago
Stupid Texans passed up on Vince over Mario Williams, bacause of this I'm a Titan fan even though I live in Houston. I hate the Texans for passing up on a real Houston Texan born and raised. I proudly wear his Jersey in local sport bars and antagonize Texan fans when Vince is in town. Surprisingly I'm not the only one, there's always a solid group of recent converts rooting for Vince to yet again teach the Texans a lesson for not choosing him. Go Titans!
amdturion123 2 years ago
So you prefer a mediocre NFL quarterback over one of the top defensive ends in the league? That's a great reason to root against your hometown team. Good job.
collectivegooblossom 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Mario Williams isn't even the best "defensive" player" on his team let alone the entire team in general. Top best in the league, he's mediocre it's not even funny(for picked #1). Vince is not mediocre, that's an understatement. The Texans haven't even gone to the playoff, something Vince already accomplished. Along with a pro bowl, and Rookie of the Year award. You must be a disgruntled Texan fan, I enjoy rubbing it in every time Vince beats you.
amdturion123 2 years ago
I am actually not a Texans fan and I could not care less what happens to either team. I am an objective observer and my objective opinion is that Vince Young has, so far, been an NFL bust for where he was picked in the draft. He defines mediocrity.
collectivegooblossom 2 years ago
"OBJECTIVE observer and OBJECTIVE opinion." Isn't that redundant? How could a guy be an NFL "bust" when his record is 24 wins with 12 losses in just 36 starts. Not to mention going to the playoff, and winning Rookie of the Year. That sir, does not define mediocrity. Your analytical approach is obviously flawed, with all due respect.
amdturion123 2 years ago
@amdturion123 WTF are u talkin about. mario williams is by FAR the best defensive player on the texans. not even close. he is a allstar.

@collectivegooblossom i wouldnt call some1 who brought a team from 0-6 to 8-2 run. hes a above average QB. if u watched his gm he rely had a breakout season. when ppl could stop his pass he ran on him. future of the nfl.

or mabye its norms fault to not utilize vinces natural ability and not try so hard to make him a pocket passer
oceanairguitarforce 2 years ago
Yeah he's a bust a bust. Inherit the starting position after the team started 0-3 and led them to 8-8 his rookie season. Including a six game winning streak and about five fouth quarter comeback victories. Including a 21 point comeback victory against the Giants. Offensive rookie of the year. And made the probowl. 2nd season while playing injured led them to the playoffs. 19-11 as a starter, yeah i'll say he a bust.lol. God is hard being a black quarterback.
araynova 2 years ago
s lets look at his individual stats
22 tds and 32 picks
24 fumbles in 29 starts
a qb rating 68.8 for his career
also yeah he won some games but the season that the titans replaced him as starter with a supposedly washed up QB they ended up having the best record in the NFL weird isn't it maybe he won those games because he was surrounded by a talented group of players not because he is such a great qb.

vcownzraptors 2 years ago
yeah whats wrong with that they never play each other and are in different conferences so the only time they would meet is in the Super Bowl in which case i would root for the Jets but be happy if the vikings won
artwarkam 2 years ago
Don't bring race into it. He's a good football player, but he's a bad QB. He's a poor man's Mike Vick. He shouldn't have made the Pro Bowl that year, but he was popular then.
Not hating, I really like him and hope he gets the starting job back and goes crazy, I'm just a realist. Right now, he's a bust.
ThrowItPac 2 years ago
Bro they had a six game win streak after starting 0-3 with Kerry Colliins as the starter. They beat the colts almost twice that season, had a 21 point comeback victory in the fourth quarter against the giants which he accounted for all the points and made hella plays. The ot run against the texans. And a another handful of victories. All the boy does is win yo.
araynova 2 years ago
Yeah well so does Shaun hill who has a 11-5 record as a starter but no one would say he is one of the most talented Qbs in the league

DowntownPhillie, I'm a hugh Texas Longhorns fan and Houston Texans fan and I would pick Mario over Vince Young in a heart beat.
DRAINO54 2 years ago
the TEXANS shouldhave drafted him instead of Mario.Houston aint going to compete for a playoff spot for a good 4 years so u might wanna sell some TIXX.ask anyone in TX who they rather have: V.Young(HOMETOWN,HOMEGROWNED kid who they love) or a BACKUP QB WHOS GETTING PAID STARTER MONEY.wouldnt be surprized if they had Vince that every HOMEGAME was a SELLOUT for the next 10 years.
DowntownPhillie 2 years ago
Tackling Stats for a Safety aren't always a good thing either, it suggests the front 7 is having problems stopping the run.

2006 NFL Draft:Players Who Can Become Major Busts!!
-Reggie Bush-One dimensional running back.
-Vernon Davis-1 decent season n 3 years.
-Jason Allen-Not a full time starter,at 16 overall,he should be.
-Bobby Carpenter-Not his fault,Cowboys are not using him up to his potential.
-Manny Lawson-Average stats for an OLB.
-John McCargo-Injury plagued career so far.
-Marcedes Lewis-Average TE stats
dabigkid75 2 years ago
I'm with you on Bush, Davis, Allen, Carpenter and McCargo. I see nothing changing there status as busts. Lawson was on the verge of breaking out and he tore his ACL, so i can't give up on him yet.
bigpunholla 2 years ago
Yea,I remember that year he tor his ACL,I was hoping he was gonna have a breakout season, but the worst happened.I agree with you, maybe I should of took in consideration the injury.
dabigkid75 2 years ago
It happened in 2007 so he should be fully healed by training camp. I'm very interested to see what Singletary gets out of him this year. But if he does nothing then the bust tag is valid. I can't call Marcedes Lewis a bust because he's used primarily as a blocker and he's one of the better blocking Tight Ends in the league. But if you're using a 1st round pick on a Tight End he needs to do more than block in my opinion.
bigpunholla 2 years ago
I agree, you draft a blocking TE in later rounds.I was actually watching this draft live and I felt that he is more of a pass catching TE after what I saw at the Combine.
dabigkid75 2 years ago
Don't forget Mr. Huff
503raider1986 2 years ago
I don't think Huff is a bust just yet.e had two standout seasons.Sure is not an intercepting safety, but he is a great tackler.I would tag him yet.The 09 season will tell.
dabigkid75 2 years ago
Standout seasons, I am a Raiders fan bro and I don't know that he has been standout. If he was a standout at SS why did he get moved to FS?
Why isn't he starting? Why did the team use a 2nd round pick on Mike Mitchell? Why did they trade up in the 4th round last year just to get S Tyvon Branch.
Huff hasn't worked out as a Safety and I think they should give him a shot at CB, but everyone wants to call Gallery somewhat of a bust for not playing Tackle anymore. I bet he doesn't start in 09.
503raider1986 2 years ago
You obviously don't know football,so what if a person switches from SS to FS or Guard to Tackle and vice versa.Every player almost changes their original posititon.Look at Osi Umenyioura,he was drafted as a DT,Terrell Suggs was a DE,now playin OLB.The Raiders are a bad organization for a reason, they make the worst decisions and wont make a player play a position that he might be better at.....If you don't believe the Raiders are a dumb organization, look at their head coach,Cable who?C'mon
dabigkid75 2 years ago
Do you know what a Tweener is? Do you know that Terrell Suggs plays both positions of OLB and DE? The 46 defense that Baltimore run and the 3-4 style dictates where he is lined up.
Terrell Suggs would be a DE in the Raiders defensive system, as would most OLB's in a 3-4 system.
If Huff had 2 standout positions at the position of SS, why would they need to move him? You said that he was standout, I disagree.
Answer the question, and don't try to insult me on the internet like 19 year old's do
503raider1986 2 years ago
Actually I'm 19.Yea I know what a tweener is,obviously Suggs can' be a 3-4 defensive end.A 3-4 defensive end weighs 290-320lbs.I said he had a standout season,not a standout player.Raiders are a 4-3 team,so dur,Suggs would be a DE
The Raiders organization is silly, they don't drat for talent just for athletes that look good at the combine, ala Heyward-Bey
dabigkid75 2 years ago
I think it's unfair to judge the draft pick until after 3 seasons, unless that player is a QB. QB's should be given 5 years in my opinion, it is a position where historically, the more experienced player is better than the younger player even though the younger player may have a better skill set by comparison.
Heyward-Bey hasn't played a down yet, he could become a great player, time will tell like you said. The last time Oak selected a questionable 1st RD pick, it was Nnamdi Asomugha.
503raider1986 2 years ago
Getting past the Crabtree-Heyward-Bey debate, the thing that was really idotic about the pick is that the Raiders probably could have traded down about ten or fifteen picks and still got him. He was the fourth or fifth rated WR. Why not trade down, save yourself some contract money, get an extra pick in the second round, and still get your guy? The d
sedeyus 2 years ago
Probably could have traded down isn't good enough for me, you take the Bill Walsh approach and select he player you want.
Heyward-Bey was one of the top 3 receivers in the draft.
15 picks, why would a team in the 20's want to trade into the top 10, pay that kind of money, and risk having a holdout considering 8 of the top 12 picks remain unsigned.
You are even suggesting that a team would give up a second round pick just to do so.
Now that is idiotic.
503raider1986 2 years ago
Nobody else besides the Raiders thought he was a top 3 WR talent because nobody else judges a player completely on their 40 time. The fact that he's never gone over 800 yards in a season made him more like the fifth or six talent-wise. The Giants and Eagles were both willing to trade up to get Maclin and majority opinion is that Crabtree is a much better player than Maclin. So if the deal isn't back-breaking, you don't think they might have listened to an offer?
sedeyus 2 years ago
No team will trade up and pay more money unless it's a QB. Teams like Philly and NYG don't move up because they are playoff teams.
Crabtree is supposed to be a top 5 talent, he fell to 10 and teams weren't putting forth any extra effort to move up and get him.
Heyward-Bey was the 4th best receiver on Mel Kiper's big board but moved up after:
Harvin tested positive and Nicks gained 17 pounds.
Kiper projected Miami or Baltimore to take DHB on first draft podcast on ESPN.
NYG needed a big
503raider1986 2 years ago
@503raider1986
Sorry but I gotta: how's that draft pick working out for you now?
sedeyus 1 year ago
receiver to replace Plaxico, not a slot WR like Maclin.
You are right, no one judges based solely on a 40 time. That is why Harvin and Nicks fell on Mel's board.
It is important to nail the draft process unless you are Andre Smith
503raider1986 2 years ago
Where's Matt Leinart?
Ruciful 2 years ago
Can't count him out yet,the Cardinals basically are babying Warner because Warner said he won't return unless he is guaranteed the starting QB job, which means even if he gets outplayed by Leinart in training camp or the preseason,he still will be the starter which makes the Cardinals playing into politics/favoritism!
dabigkid75 2 years ago
Leinart is the QB of the future for AZ.
Warner has a few good years left in him, maybe 1 or 2.. 3 at the most. Once he's done Leinart will lead AZ.

Reggie Bush
Vince Young
Da Brick
Vernon Davis
Michael Huff
Donte Whitner
Ernie Sims
Matt Leinart.

Whitner is one of the best Strong Safeties in the league. And Ernie Sims have been over 100 tackles every year. How can you call them busts?
bigpunholla 2 years ago 6
I'm sorry. I guess Sims isn't a bust, but I would expect a LB picked 9th overall to have more than 2.5 sacks in three years. And I was off on whitner
oliverleehornbake 2 years ago
Well he isn't a 3-4 edge rusher. He's a 4-3 Weak Side Linebacker, kinda like Lance Briggs.
bigpunholla 2 years ago
lbs in a 4-3 system arent expected to get sacks. not all lb pass rush, its not about stats 2. cause he can cover and stop the run
