Everyone loves Ricky Gervais but only the British truly understand his comedy, it kills me to watch him doing stand up in America and see him not get as many laughs.. He doesn't have to tell a joke to be funny. British humour has always been more clever. American humour is dumb stuff, not saying Americans are dumb, but your jokes are more slap-stick. We laugh at the characters not there jokes.
@RichyBMelodies All right, then: Gareth becomes manager, David tells Finchy to "fuck off" in a moment of catharsis, Tim kisses Dawn, and David returns to the office to finally make everyone laugh. So according to you, this all never happened? You just own an older series DVD; mine does has the special on it, as it was made (wait for it) after the special. Calling me a spaz, when I simply refuted your statement, also doesn't work, sorry. Christmas special = part of the show.
@flyforce16 Yeah it's part of the show but not part of the series.
Exactly which series is it then? Because there were 2 series of The Office, so was it series one or two? Because I'm looking at the list right now and it's telling me there are 6 episodes in each series?
And I'm not calling you a spaz because you refuted my statement I'm calling you a spaz because you're wrong to suggest the specials were part of either series.
@RichyBMelodies Spazzing is losing physical or emotional control - my first comment just asked why you thought the specials were separate. Disregarding whether I'm right or wrong, that's not spazzing. & with the original issue, I'm still confused by your argument. If you're saying that, technically speaking, the special didn't air under a series title (like a season) & therefore is not "part of the series," then I agree. I'm saying that it doesn't matter & it's still The Office canon either way.
The way he points his finger at someone in the crowd but then starts moving it side to side cause he didnt know who shouted it out lol, its the little things like that make me love the office.
@bpeterdude316 He's a genius of social awkwardness, noone can read and reproduce awkward body language, mannerisms and conversations like he can. He goes so deep into Brent, with his tie adjusting, looking at the camera, lame jokes and just the way he generally conveys himself. Its probably too funny for some people to understand. Also how the fuck do you justify him being a wanker because you dont understand the humour? That doesnt make sense at all
@ssggffxx ok let me put this simply, i just don't like his style of humour, I want something that makes me laugh in tears, for me ricky gervais doesn't make me do that, making sly remarks about someone also is not funny, thats my opinion not yours, I can respect that
@bpeterdude316 It's funny how you're trying to be all diplomatic about it now but you just called him a wanker because you don't like his comedic style.
@pcgamer010 look if you want to argue about whether Ricky gervais is funny or not there's an article inthe telegraph about it ricky gervais is a comedian who takes the mick out of other people because of their disadvantage it doest matter if you well educated or influential if you act like wanker to me you 're a wanker. BTW what every happened to free speech
@bpeterdude316 How is he not a genius? The Office is the greatest sitcom of the 2000s; it almost single-handedly created and popularised a comedic subgenre, despite starting out with no following at all. Extras is also fantastic and is also extremely successful. Ricky also has the most downloaded series of podcasts and audiobooks on the planet, and his standup shows are the fastest sellout shows in history. It's fine if his humour is not to your liking, but the guy is certainly a comedic genius.
@videogamenostalgia Whilst I do love the office and agree that Gervais is a comedic genius, The Office didn't actually create a comedic subgenre, Gervais ripped the idea almost directly from 'The Day Today'.
the person who shouts WANKER does sound a little bit like little karly pilkoids. Or maybe that's just me listening to the baldy manc twat too much recently.
@therealplease I can't speak for other countries, but on swedish TV they curse a whole lot. There's also a fair bit of nudity, most of Europe is like that I'm guessing.
"Wanker!" Simple and effective. I remember the first time me and my mate watched this we rewound that part about fifty times! Fucking hilarious! Gervais for prime minister.
Well, to David's defense, that woman was a major bitch, so I don't blame him at all for insulting her. Besides, who says "Who the fuck's that"? loud, right next to him?
The character's insecurity seems actually highlighted by the speed of his retorts ... it's as though he's ready for a comeback because he's always ready to be insulted by someone.
