  • :D this is good

  • Also, do you have lyrics?

  • You know what I want to see? A good-old Lovecraftian horror film, only it takes place near Christmas and uses these songs as the soundtrack.

  • PRAISE CTHULHU!!!!

  • You know I went back and read the story again after hearing this, and it really did happen during "Yuletide", which I guess makes "The Festival" the most fucked up Christmas story of all time.

  • You know, normally these HPLHS carols are just silly (and hilarious), but this one actually kind of scared the crap out of me.

  • @Serenae13 You're correct. I'm hearing weirdness. Thanks for the corrections for those needing lyrics. :)

  • Cant stop listening to it

  • Pretty nice, but the song refers to H.P. Lovecraft's short story The Festival, not Robert M. Chambers's The King in Yellow....

  • hay guys, i this found a new King in Yellow by a one named Darkso S Kous.

if you want to hear it see my video THE STRANGER OF THE PLAY BE DARKSO S KOUS

  • Three people were found in the cold waters of Kingsport harbor. (;,;)

  • I don't wanna know what happens to the poor guy who the "guest of honor".

  • The king in yellow is on facebook, search 'Theyellow king' (;,;)

  • @AvatarofCthulhu

Facebook is a waste of time. =(

  • @Himself6196 True but I found him there along with many Cthulhu's. Just thought I'd spread the word. (;,;)

  • @AvatarofCthulhu After thought, so is warhammer but people still use it. (;,;)

  • And god bless you and help you to survive out festive rites

Yes, god help you survive out festive rites.

Don (Furogh?) take off your mask and mount your hierarchy

Join with us in manic prayer out evil god can see

You will soon hear his call, for your in a festival.

If your lucky you might forget until Solstice comes again, yes forget until solstice comes again

    (Part 2)

  • @Rubyeke

It's "doff your robe, take off your mask and mount your byahkee."

To doff something means to remove it, and a byahkee is the nasty little monsters the cultists ride in the story.

  • @TheZombiePimpernel Interestingly enough, I was going to support the lyric being "Don your robe,", but when I go back and listen to it, it .. doesn't quite sound like it. So now I'm unsure. Oh well. Though, I wouldn't quite say Byakhee are necessarily 'little' monsters. In relation to other things, perhaps. But they are not that small.

  • @TheZombiePimpernel

Ah well. thanks for the corrections :D

  • @Rubyeke "Doff your robe take off your mask..."

  • Lyrics might not be right but here's what I got: (part 1)

Here we go in a parade unto out meeting place

Neighbors going masquerade so waxy in the face

And whats best, best of all, is you'll join our festival

and god bless you and help you help you to come with us to pray.

Yes, god help you to come with us to pray.

Now we're in the chamber where the ancient rites are held

Here beside the greenish flame your worship is compelled

You're the honored guest of all and you'll join our festival.

  • @Rubyeke Please forgive the typos, I'm not good at this.

  • I LOVE this song, it sounds like it could fit in a Disney movie!

    "Disney's Call of Cthulhu"

  • Ahh the festival. Good times where had by all at those wonderful events. (;,;)

  • Where did you get the picture at 0:49? It's really neat...

  • @yayforspooky

Google searched for King In Yellow

    I think, at least.

  • Oh hey, is that HASTUR HASTUR HASTUR?

  • Is the Crimson King Lovecraft's Nyarlathotep? In his sonnet, HPL describes him as ",,,wrapped in fabrics red as sunset flame..." This video is amazing!

  • @MrWilum Heh, perhaps. Thank you, though. It seemed like the right stuff to put together.

  • Hail Eris!

@MrWilum No, Nyarlathotep is Flagg. This guy's, um, Unspeakable.

    Snarky

  • Hail Eris!

@MrWilum Reposting because it doesn't seem to be getting through. No, Nyarlathotep is (Randall) Flagg. This guy is, you might say, "Unspeakable".

    Snarky

  • @PopeSnarky Many thanks!

  • @PopeSnarky Yeah, but which one is technically more powerful? They say Nyarlathotep is Azathot's messanger/envoy. But since Azathoth is technically mindless (possibly his musical playing is a reflex or instinct, personal hypothesis on how a mindless being can make music), can we say for certain that it isn't Nyarlathotep pulling his strings?

  • @MrWilum Who is the Crimson King? :?

  • Love 0:48, when it takes an even darker tone.

  • The picture at :16, I want that throne!

  • the yellow king shall kill you all! hastur AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

    he is here

  • Pain tastes best with yellow sprinkles! Praised be Chaugnar Faugn, the Elephant God. Well not quite an elephant, but a god for sure. A great god and a hungry one.

  • CAMILLA: You, sir, should unmask.

    STRANGER: Indeed?

CASSILDA: Indeed it's time. We all have laid aside disguise but you.

    STRANGER: I wear no mask.

CAMILLA: (Terrified, aside to Cassilda.) No mask? No mask!

_The King in Yellow, Act I, Scene 2_.

  • @Seamus451 *Fails sanity check* AHHHHHHH!!!!!! @_@

  • Someone got the lyrics? can't understand everything....

  • "Join with us in manic prayer our evil god to see..."

    Love it.

  • love the song.thx for the tribute :p

  • No problem. :3

  • Great song =D

Yay the King in Yellow! I know his name :) it's.... *reads out loud*

    Hastur!

    Oh Wait... sh*t.

    *head explodes*

  • Actually, "Hastur" is just a mask for his true name. But hey, at least it's more original than Frank Herbert's mask names! A Killing Word, eat your heart out!

  • Yeah^^" You know, it has been a long time since I heard about The King in Yellow... and my brain is on "holiday mode" ^^"

(and I was pretty innfluenced by an really awesome witty webcomic xD)

    So please forgive me xD

  • Hail to the King in Yellow! My third favourite 'cthulhu carol' after Away in A Madhouse and Death to the World.

  • Hail the Tatterdemalion King!

  • THE CRIMSON KIIIING! *happy*

  • Haha, yeah.

  • I love the random picture of The Crimson King in there, if you know who he is. *points towords username* All Hail The Crimson King!!

  • Ah, I just looked it up, The Crimson King. Interesting. I shall have to read more about this. Thank you.

  • This is one of my favorite stories, and it was great to hear it in song. Thanks for the chance to hear this, and the Yellow King images do go well with the song. My favorite Lovecraft story is 'The Outsider', has the Society ever done a song for that?

  • You're welcome - and thank you. I don't know if they've done one for that song, though.

  • I can see Irony, and people don't even know there is Irony.

  • Right now, I see melancholy.

  • Phnglui mglwnafh Cthulhu Rlyeh wgah-nagl ftaghn
