@douro20 Most UD-18s like this late one were 100HP, early ones were 80. It certainly isn't really doing any heavy work here, less than 2 gallon an hour for sure. Still sounds nice for it's age. I'd be making use of some pokey sticks here and there.
ive worked in sawmills all my life from 12 year old and im saying this fella would not be doing this with hard wood it would hit a limb and through the log clean through him
i can just see him going to grab the piece of wood from the blade, getting too close or his sleeve caught on the moving blade, and BAM! face or body right into the moving sawblade
Todays sawmills are loaded with safety features to protect -IDIOTS- from getting hurt. This sawmill will be just as safe when you treat it with respect.
In a fire brigade training they teach firefighters that nothing is unsafe, as long as you know what you're doing. Modern machinery is designed for workers that dont know what they're doing.
i was just wondering the same thing. can he still count to ten without using the same finger twice. looks like a good way to loose a hand. ingenious set-up though.
What are the logs for? That first one got down to a decent cant, and then you hauled it off! Fence post? (maybe a lift would be nice too - save your back)
in the second log.... was there some metal? or nails? i thought I saw some sparks. an old telephone pole maybe?
Hey, Gary weld you a flat 45degree gaurd next to the saw, leave about a 1/4 of an inch cap, this will keep you from cutting your hand off maybe....Please buy you a can hook...i got tired watching you hand turn the log's...Also make you a grab tool to get the slab's away from the saw before you cut your hand off...
Ever tried this on drugs?

What about the tractor driver. There is nothing between him and a log if it rolled off the back of the bucket!!
