even better is taking a small water ballon and fill it full of bbs, stick in the firework(i use great grizzley Navy Seal firecrackers). I have used it with great sucess. They arent too load and the bbs feel like a spring gun if they hit bare skin but thats at point blank range.

Also, if you want to try it you can take an pen tube or old airsoft barrel and put a firecracker in one end and a BB in the other and light it. It goes extremely fast; its goes at least 400 and possibly 800 fps. be careful with it and don't shoot someone with it until you find the exact speed. Make sure it's under 550 fps.

Doing a similar thing right now, but with much larger projectiles (40mmx100mm) - and a full machined steel M72 LAW body (nonfolding), fireing a shell of impregnated peas as ammo, foam sabot and a charge of nitrocelulose fired by an electrically detonated tetryl cap.
