Went with the micro dot. Found a website that offers the midwest rail and us palm upper WITH a micro dot for 180 bucks. Hard to beat that. Loved your video, it really help me with my purchase.
@millerusaf i like the sparc...but hearing about the cowitness issue now I am rethinking optic choices. Do you know anything about the burris fastfire II reflex in regards to cowitness? Thanks!
I was planning on getting one of these, the only thing i noticed - is that you have to take all this circus down to clean your gas tube... How big of a pain in the rear end is this?
Nice video. I went a different route to specifically achieve co-witness on my 74. I acquired a "low profile" Kalinka mount and attached an Primary Arms M3(aimpoint clone) red dot. The co-witness works great and zeros fine when removed and reattached. I went this way because my AK came with a scope mount on it.
Glad to see more quality options becoming available that provide us with some more (and perhaps better?) options for mounting optics and lights on AKs. I'm a firm believer in not hanging too much crap off of a gun, but I also believe in using technology when it increases your capabilities, and IMO a light only comes in behind magazines, ammo, and a sling. Red dots are proven at this point as well. I only own an AR so far, but hope to get an AK soon, and I'm glad to see AKs are doing a decent job
@wcropp1 of keeping up as far as modularity goes. Even though neither gun was really designed with modularity in mind, the AR has proven to be the more adaptable rifle, particularly with regard to mounting optics. The simplicity of an AK is great, but the top cover does not make a very solid optics mounting platform. The side mounts some AKs have still puts your optic up pretty high, if not to the side as well. The newer, rail-based designs like this one seem much more ergonomic.
I have an MI rail on a Arsenal SLR-106, Love it. Thanks for introducing me to the top cover Miller, ordered. Now if they would make a rail for a Yugo M70AB, I could ditch the UTG rail and be happy. More AK stuff plz!
@millerusaf you ever try mueller or millet scopes? ive read some ok reviews on them. Im kind of looking for a illuminated reticle option to put on my mosin nagant sporterization project . Ive got the AtI stock and its gonna require some work to get it to fit the way i want free floated. ATI can say drop in all they want but expect some slop in their tolerances. They will replace it if it comes to that though. i like the boyds stocks looks. May go that route someday.
@ryanjcus I've had multiple MI rails before. I like the brand, and that was never a secret. Why would I go out of the way to review something I don't like?
@millerusaf Your channel is your channel. You can do whatever you wish. That's why the USA is Beautiful. You can choose to block me, you can choose to do whatever you wish. I like your channel for the most part. However I do disagree in some ways.
@HellbillyCuntryMusic I do review most of the stuff I buy. So does nutnfancy, so does sootch00, so does hickok45, so does every single gun writer in the popular gun rags. I like to review things, and that's one of the whole core concepts of this channel. I also do my research on things before I buy, so you'll rarely see a video of me saying the product absolutely sucks. I have made a few, though. (CAA products mag well grips suck, NCStar can be touch and go, Williams AK peep sucks, etc, etc).
@millerusaf oh i know, my comment wasn't a shot at your channel. i was just messing with ryan about his comment.. once again, thanks for the ak series!!
@luis545x39 I've never experienced that. Accuracy is still good when these are installed. Some have said that being bolted to the barrel degrades the accuracy. The problem is the AKs don't have free floated barrels in the first place, so I'm not sure how the rail could change the harmonics that much to throw accuracy off.
Its not Ka-Lash its pronounced Ka-Lish. Not tryng to be a smartass but im Russian, was born in Russia and my father is prior Russian military so I know how its pronounced correctly.
@yborzenko interesting, when i was in Angola a local named his son Ka-LASH after the rifle, he was trained by Russian/Cuban teachers to speak Russian and English, and thats how he pronounced it...interesting huh?
@millerusaf Ya I actually looked it up in the dictionary to see what it said myself, and I just called my dad cause I didnt want to be wrong with what I said but what he told me is that Ka-lish is more of a slang style of saying it there along with Ka-Lashom. But I do apologize I guess the technically correct way is Ka-lash.
The Only problem I have With It is if the Optic Goes Down because of a Busted Screen or Mud, You can't quickly take it off. But other than That I Like the Rail System!
@DaytonaRoadster For that Specific Rail, the Top Cover doesnt allow QD. Thats a Complaint many people have. I'd personally rather have Standard Rails, even if it didnt cowitness, and use QD.
whats the advantage of getting a rail designated for only 1 optic, i am thinking about going with the rail on top option because i may switch optics

Does this rail system fit the romanian draco ak pistol? And do they have a mount that fits the eotech xp-s 3?

hey millerusaf what kind of optics do you think would be best suited for a g36c for firing at a range of 150+ yards
maxman1244 7 months ago
are the optics that work with that rail only for close quarter, or for 100 yards plus as well?
dfcoinc 7 months ago
Agreed, Midwest Industries has quality products. I haven't put a rail system on any of my AKs, but if I was, I'd certainly go with them.
