I'm about to be a first time watcher myself. I've never been interested in Star Wars before, only ever seen bits & pieces of all the the films when they were playing on different channels. But like you, being able to see it in High Definition sparked my interest! Great video, definitely subbing! :)
Got to admit, but this is the best review I've ever watched. Especially coming from a person who has similar experiences with Star Wars like you. Thanks!
I didn't mind the prequels, though I like the original movies best. After you finish watching all 40 hours of extras, will you do a video about the highlights?
@carlyonv Actuallly i don't think i will. i realized i've been vlogging and tweeting about Star Wars WAY too much.. for the sake of retaining subscribers, i think i need to shut up about Star Wars for a while!
I have to say I still think the prequels are pretty bad, but I like hearing your thoughts on them. I think the big problem with them is that there paying TOO much attention to the CGI and aliens etc and not enough to the story. Although I do agree it was a good idea replacing the puppet Yoda from ep 1 with CGI, he looks better now.
this is a great review for a new viewer of star wars. its interesting to hear your perspective not being a hard core for over 30 years. your perspectives are right on by the way of the prequels. they are no where near as bad as everyone says they are. going in as an unspoiled viewer, your insights are quite refreshing .Nice job!
I can understand that the longterm fans who grew up with SW feel cheated by Lucas.. but as a new viewer, it's quite a brilliant series. it's a great story and is told in a visually spectacular way. I think going forward, as newer and newer generations discover it, appreciation of the 6-part series as a whole will grow. hopefully.
I am with ya on JarJar Binks. The first time I saw him I thought...how cute. Then it got old really really fast. I enjoyed the prequels...they dont have the majic as the original films. I can still remember sitting in theatre when I was a small child and those words scrolled up the screen and was just wonderful. Bonus features are AWESOME..I love the behinds the scenes info.
I have only seen attack of the clones and the phantom menace of the prequels once, I didn't like either of them much and agree the phantom menace was not that great, but funnily enough I would kind of like to see revenge of the Sith because that is when Anakin becomes Darth vad, only saw it here on youtube, but would kind of like to see that film in it's entirety.
I reckon a big TV like yours would show up more detail and CGI would probably be a bit more obvious. But that's good you want detail
@TJVlogs I am looking forward to seeing it thanks, I noticed the UK discs have nice pictures on them whereas the Americans just have nearly plain silvery white labels on their discs, so it looks like the get the better housing case for the discs and we get the nicer discs..aaargh you can't win!
@TJVlogs You are awesome defending the prequels, i always hoped someone would, and I am reallyy anxios to know would you give them all an eight??? I would????
That is exactly how I felt when IW as visiting my sister her wee boy was watching one of the prequels I am not sure which one, and I looked over at the screen and though....too much into this fight scene, so much going on in the screen that I found it disinteresting, it is like they are trying to much to put the awe in awesome, and the original trilogy wasn't done in this way, but I ordered a copy of the saga from ebay so I will watch it and see what i think when I seen them all in hi def.
Anyways, TJVlogs, after watching the prequels, you owe it ito yourself to watch the reviews, they're so funny, you can find them on youtube, search for "star wars: the phantom menace review" ^_^
don't take this as condescending my friend, but it's fun to watch you discover and enjoy all this so much, so keep us apprised.... and have fun, because that's all Star Wars is supposed to be about in the first place! if you've ever seen the old "Buck Rogers" serials you'll see where Lucas got his ideas.
@locofobic Thanks.. i'm so glad i'm not boring everybody to tears by talking about it so much! i AM having fun discovering Star Wars. Thanks for watching :)
You have to understand, fans had been waiting for a decade to get those movies, so "not that terrible" didn't cut it for us. It was disappointment after disappointment with those movies, only episode 3 can be somewhat salvaged from the prequels, the rest is really not worthy of the star wars name imho. The best thing about the prequels, is that without them we never would have gotten the epic review from redlettermedia, you should watch them, they really give you so much insight about why those
@risanwo Part 3 was icing on the cake for the total let down for me. After alls these years to finally get mech Vader back on the screen and it's for only about 30 seconds and the nooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO was just the ultimate slap in the face.
you were right about Yoda. When Luke first meets him in ESB , he was a crazy old hermit living in the swamp. I think you will get it when you watch the film, but you were right xD
i wonder if Lucas replaces the Original Trilogy Yoda with CGI too? i guess i'll find out this weekend! - if not for this release, he'll probably do that at some point in the future i imagine.
