Yes, when comparing media I do say 'American' as a generalization for all of North America, as we practically share the same industry. (All American TV series air in Canada... we rarely get our very own, and movies filmed in Canada are usually produced by Hollywood.)

Canada is a slightly more developed country (cite:HDI), and about that's basically it. We overrate ourselves.

Lost was absolutely unique, a criticially aclaimed show, it deserves it's honors and even more.
