  • @hyperbaby90 best time is now if you live in IL. warm spring rains bring them out.

  • man i love your herps when is it the best time to look for spotted salamanders in the vernal pool. keep up with the great work!!!

  • Your knowledge of 'herps' seems to be commendable however, I would advise that when you pick up salamanders, you moisten your hands first as the oils in you skin can remove the lubricants in their skin they depend on for survival. Indeed, handling these animals with dry hands can kill them as you should know and I hope you take this information with you the next time you are "in the field". Good video BTW and good luck in the future.

  • @Raffe - great points! same goes for any amphib really or if you're fishing and taking them off the hook.

  • Contiued..... A Bunch Of Sallies, And Brown Snakes, But I Think Thy'd Be A Good Idea. The Massuaga Rattlesnake (A.K.A.) The Swamp Rattlesnake. U'll Be The 1st One On Youtube To Herp The Most Venomus Rattlesnake (It Just Usually Enject Small Doce Of Venom So It's Not THat Fal and Its A Secretive Snake.

As I Seid B4 Just A Suggestion (Reply If U Will)

  • Hey, Smetlogik Imma New Herper (If u will call it that). I Mostly Herp For Snakes, And I Recived A Bounch Of Tips From CHP(Chicago Herpetolgy Society) At an Meeting. So I Have A Small But Semi Big Background On Herping. So Would Say You Should Go To Northern Illinois, Like The Conty I Live in (Cook), And Try To Herp A Massuaga Rattle Snake. That's What Im Going For. Its Hard, But It'll Be Awesome. Just A Suggestion. There Not Out Yet, Only Things Out Are Garter(Occasionly On Warm Days).

  • It would have been really funny if you would have found a dead body under that log..Im not right in the head..lol..True...herping is hard work but well worth it in the end. I live in Illinois..kool.
