  • Plus, how so can you not spend your way out of a recession? Why not? Explain that to me, please. But you can not, since it's entirely possible to do that. We did so in the 30s, under a Democratic President and we are gonna do it again. Only repub surrrender monkeys think we can not.

Look up multplier effect on google, you repub retard. Oh I forgot: dealing with logic and facts is too hard for you redneck inbreeds.

  • The country is bankrupt because of Bush, leave Obama out of it. Let's not forget that Bush started with a surplus of 5 BILLION and ended with a DEFICIT of 5 BILLION.... Obama is doing what he can, but it's not likely to be be effective in the coming years.

And we don't need people with common sense. Those people predicted that a human being could never travel faster than 100mph, lest his breath be cutoff.

We need college educated smart people, not c-minus students like Dumbya.

  • No it's like the teacher disciplining the bully for hitting your child.

We the people, are the govt, why shouldn't we say what goes?

the right wings points are nonsense, and they support Cowardly Capitalism: they're afraid of competition, so they wanna have a govt sanctioned monopoly. Obama is a COMPETITVE capitalist, he thinks companies shouldn't be afraid of a little competition.

And ... is HARVARD, YALE or PRINCETON bankrupt cos of community colleges? Don't make me laugh.

  • I think obama said it best when he said that medicade and medicare are failing and can't afford to contuine at the current rate, What makes them think that a different public health care plan will do anybetter, When will people learn that private enterprise is always going to do things in the most effective way. Health care companies aren't to blame for increasing premiums, its the people who decide not to take care of themselves and instead reley on medication instead of good diet and exercise

  • "Health care companies aren't to blame for increasing premiums, its the people who decide not to take care of themselves and instead reley on medication instead of good diet and exercise"

    WTF?

You are implying that bad health is always a personal choice. There is a plethora of illness, diseases, and medical conditions that can develop independently from diet and exercise.

You can get terminal cancer for no apparent reason at all.

  • aha. You don't realize that this tacks in nicely with the whole rightwing meme that people are always responsible for whatever crap they're experiencing:

Poverty, discrimination, getting raped, getting cancer ..... according to repuKKKes, it's all (or mostly) your OWN fault!!!

  • what makes them think that? welll for one thing, SMART people are running the govt now, not ideologues,

and 2nd, if you look at China, govt is doing a pretty good job.

and 3rd, companies more effective? So, privatize the US army then! AND... if you underfund govt, no wonder they're gonna suck.

Health companies are CHEATING (kicking out the sick), that's why they SEEM more profitable.

    go to

    w w w DOT governmentisgoodDOTcom / articlesDOTphp?aid=7

  • you sound just like the rest of the libs, why dont you do some reading and you will find that insurance companies work on 3% margin, what that means for you libs is they get 3% of the profits.the true reason for healthcare costs are the outragious premiums the poor doctors have to pay for lawsuits but libs wont even talk about torte reform attorneys give them millions in contributions.the polititions know that for a fact but no blame it on the insurance companies that bad people. wake up

  • VA is a pretty weathly state so I understand why alot of there congresspeople in general are corporatist. Campaign finance reform is the true solution here.

  • What state is this may I ask?

The more people pay attention the more they want to "throw the bums out". These coroprate Dems need to be tossed for some more progressive ones.

  • I Believe it's time for libertarians/constitution party to takeover, because we got to reduce the size and scope of our government.

  • Yea.... you are the type of guys that say you are against Gov but never live what you preach.

  • See I believe that as well but what's the point of having more Dems in Congress if they won't actually do Democratic things?Might as well primary some of them (the ones in bluer staes where we think we can win) and get some damn better Dems.

  • They will be primaried. I rather vote for a more Progressive candidate than a business shilling Dem who is no better than a Repub

  • the USA will go bankrupt if they dont fix their health care system. i dont think they have that long as well

  • and if you read Krugman, the stimulus is not nearly enough.

  • 70% to 80% of those who have full coverage

what about the 47 million uninsured and 90 million under-insured?

    OBAMA is a Chicken

  • this is the second inaptly named Obama video on TPM! Have you been hacked, or infiltrated

  • the name of the video is fine. Obama was emphasizing that any public health plan will not be mandatory. It will be optional. Hence the title "Obama refuses to say its _not_ optional". I guess negotiable is a bit of a strange word...

  • negotiable is a perfectly normal word. Look it up if you feel insecure.

    What YOU say is nonsense:

"Obama Declines To Say Public Option Non-Negotiable" =/= "Obama refuses to say its _not_ optional"

First one means its a DEALBREAKER for Obama. 2nd one means that it won't be forced upon citizens.

think about consulting a dictionary before you make an ass out of yourself?

  • hmm, yeah, I goofed. I reviewed the vid, title still seems fine. Take care.

  • Nice. You've managed to make NO sense and contradict yourself in 15 words or less

If you goofed, the title CAN'T be fine.

  • it took you 2 months to come up with that? -_-

Why don't you come up with your own title? A big bouncy title?

  • 1st. shockingly, YOU are NOT my lifes priority. You slide in around 97th, before washing dirty socks but after scratching my ass.

2nd. I'm glad you conceded on my point, since you couldn't come up with relevant arguments.

Take care too, but I'm afraid it won't help you. You don't seem capable enough to do so.

  • Marxism at its best. Obama . Killing Capitalism is the goal . wake up.Stand up . liberty ! Notice liberals PROTECT Unions, Lawers , No tort reform ? No Stopping the illegal immigrants medical drain ? typical Socialist/ Marxist ideology ..produce a crisis use it to gain control. IF Socialized medicine is SO GOOD WHY DO PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD COME HERE FOR TREATMENT! If its SO Good SEND TED KENNEDY TO CUBA FOR HIS HEALTH CARE!

  • yes, bluecam, get used to it or move to Singapore or Russia, the true bastions of robber barron capitalism.

  • so my choice is between idiocy or Marxism? I guess I choose... Obama! muahahaha, its the sneak attack of the third option!

Man, if this is the Internet, then it sure is fail.

  • Why in the world would anyone keep a bunch of useless paper-pushers in the loop, sucking dollars from my pocket is beyond me!

Private insurance companies repeatedly decline health care services, for profit . This has been proven. Administrative costs drain the system like a cancer. Anyone seen Sick-o?

  • 80%? for those who still have healthcare coverage...

    SINGLE PAYER DAMNIT!

  • that plan will work as good as fredie fanie did.

  • Both organizations were deregulated years before they fell. Do some research.

  • yeah but the americans that are working and paying for their plan- will now be taxed to pay for the public plan- for those who dont work- i pay for my healthcare, electricity, car insurance and that is my right- i should not be forced to cover all americans healthcare - they have access to healthcare now- this is bad for economy which should be our first priority

  • By that logic, conservatives must hate to pay taxes for other peoples police, fire departments, public schools, public parks, libraries, roads, etc etc.

Healthcare-- like those other basic services I mentioned-- is a right we should all have (not a luxury for the well-off and lucky). And with all those other rights, we share in the tax burden because we are a civilized society and we understand that a) we're all in this together, and b) that we're getting back what we paid in in services.

  • No, what is bad for the economy is the exploding cost of health care. Paying a small tax to control these costs is a good investment.

  • "They can't compete with the government just printing money."

Hmm. Acknowledges the government prints money to pay for things.

  • Anyone with a brain knows this is how it works. Are you so much of a malcontent conspiracy theorist that you believe that the government attempts to hide this fact?

  • fuck obama

  • Bill Maher is right, Until there is a real Liberal Party in America, we're stuck with the Democrats.. a center right party.

  • "Some healthy debates"...sounds like members of the house will be swinging at each other.

  • ***** thx..., Been side Tracked...

  • ...again.

  • This makes perfect sense to me , IS The most capitalist thing ever "free market baby"competition if the HMO`s and the rest of the insurance company cant compete with a more efficient system then they will fail ,but if the government cant compete with the HMO and private insurance companies then the public option will fail.HOW CAN ANYONE BE AGAINST THIS!!!!

  • I think he is beating around the bush here. He has to realize..........if he signs a bill without a public option 2010 will be an epic bloodbath.

  • I know it's easy to criticize, but what he's done here is called stirring the pot. He doen't have a good answer. He doesn't have THE answer much less the best. But by having any answer is a start towards the dialect that will be required to arrive at the answer everyone wants... IT's a Start !

  • the "answer everyone wants" doesn't exist.

Difference splitting is BS here (s elsewhere); middling half measures fail to deliver here...as it is the "public plan" is all too likely to be an anemic, cherry-picked substndrd version of "sgl payer" (tho if they can make the pub op strong and viable, it'd be good to have some priv sec competition keeping bureaucratic rigor mortise fr setting in...& yet, make the pub op forever vulnerable to future resurgent GOP 'beast-starving' a la Thatcher).

  • If there will be no public plan Obama can go fuck himself along with the rest of the Democrats.

  • This is a pathetic answer on the President's part. The public plan *IS* the compromise (down from the single-payer system that would be best)... you cannot, and should not, compromise down further from that. If you do, then you have no real reform, and-- as Howard Dean said-- you're better off passing no bill at all.

The public plan must be non-negotiable.

But, I forget, Democrats have no spine, even Obama, and they will sell us out on this issue. I'd love to be proven wrong.

  • Agree with everything you are saying Jeremy. I am thinking he is trying to to pigeonhole the plan so he is beating around the bush. We will see if he actually allows a bill without a public option to go to his desk.

  • I honestly think he wants the public plan. You'll be hard pressed to find any politician that speaks in absolutes. That's the nature of politics. But I think behind closed doors, he's insisting on just that. Dems don have the rep of having the backbone of jellyfish, but we'll see...

  • I do as well. So many of these congresspeople are beholden to their Insurance company masters it pisses me off. This needs to change.

  • Makes total sense, and I'll add that he's not using a teleprompter.

  • Health and Medical care costs are Excessively inflated because of Government involvement with over regulation taxing doctors out of business and insurance companies demanding Extortion premiums.

  • agreed

  • What the United States needs and deserves is a single payer system with everyone in and no one left out. The despicable private insurance companies are raping the country. We need, want and deserve a single payer system with everyone in and no one left out.

  • be careful what you wish for

  • polls show that over 70 percent of people are in favor of the public option. It should be non negotiable. The public option does make sense. I'm sorry but i don't think the american people are all to worried about the private insurence tycoons as they are about thier health care and polls show that. It NEEDS to be non negotiable.

  • He will get it in, it's the cornerstone of his plan. Without it, the insurers have no check. If the government can compete with them on insurance, look out world.

  • It makes sense to me! But I'm a civil servant. What do I know? :-)

  • This guy is freakin AWESOME

  • Sounds right to me.

  • Now how does that NOT make sense to anyone? Anywhere in the spectrum??

  • Seriously, I agree whole heartedly
