Was at the Opera House in 2005, No operas anymore, but concerts and ballets. Was able to get tickets for ballet, Truly memorable experience. French do not acknowledge the play or movie (Weber being English and all). Only thing in gift shop at all was an old dvd of the Phantom with Chaney. Across from Ritz and the Lafayette Depart;ment store. Reporduction in movie is done very well. Do go see it. Omaha, Nebraska
Very nice. Brings back great memories though we were in the theater itself alone,quiet as a mouse in there, our guide said tourists normally did not see the theater. I have no idea of why we were the only ones in there.
imagine a chandelier that spectacular crashing upon the audience and killing a concierge wouldn't that be spine chilling! oh and why were there small houses on the stage?

He was a man According to Leroux. but nobody would ever have had the chance to catch him on film, Erik "The phantom" has been dead since the mid/late 1800s. and its hardly possible there is one now because the cellars that are deep enough to reach the Lair have all been flooded and collapsed. concrete seals some of the old passages. not really the place to live. no solitude.
Anyone know if you can enter the Garnier Paris Opera even if you don't see an opera or ballet inside ? Do they offer tours inside the theater ? Let me know! I'm going to Paris to see this great opera house.
I am so Pleased That the Opera Underwent that long restoration I have A photo of it in the 70s and it was badly worn from the years. its angels were rusted black copper the walls were stained it was sad to see. but now it looks as if we steped back over 100 years.,

Yes, if you go during the day it is open for tourists for a small fee. Evenings they usually have performances.

The 'houses' on the stage were part of the set for a ballet that was on at the time that this was filmed.

They do offer tours during the day before the evening performances. You will see everything that's in this video.
