FINALLY somebody who said it the right way! Beatmania was first not DDR. So calling beatmania "like DDR for your hands" is kinda wrong.

I think what he meant was more people in the US know what DDR is rather than Beatmania.

i.e. you walk up to someone on the street and ask them, 'Do you know what X is?' replace X with DDR or Beatmania, and I can guarantee you that more people will say yes to DDR than Beatmania in the US.
