Enjoyed this. I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB, S.D. in the 80s and often drove down to Denver Colo along hwy 85 in Wyoming. Somewhere south of Torrington is an exact silo like this one. I was thinking thes were Titan sites, Thanks for the correction. I'm sure that by now it is a home but i remember the most peaceful moment of my life walking topside. There was only the sound of the wind, some birds and the sound of thunder from a very distant storm. How better does it get from there.
It was an bad idea 60 years ago when they were implemented. Yet 58 some odd were built at HUGE cold war prices to be used for about 4 years and then "decommissioned" as OBSOLETE prior to 1965. Most were sold to local school districts for one dollar. They fell into huge disrepair and many are waterlogged decaying relics of a bygon era of fear. Dangerous as well because teens like to break into them and "tag" them (spraypaint the walls. It is common) they break in thru the "escape hatch.
They may be obsolete but they would be really cool houses and look like they would be fun to explore by urbex rules (take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints) I just wish I knew of some in Ohio.
Hi q123477, I also live in Ohio. I have been looking for something like this close by to check out. Have you found out if there are any in Ohio? Thanks for the help my friend.
I love this video. For around a year, I have been obsessed with the idea of converting a missile silo into my home, office, and overall base of operations. Just watching this video really touched me. Just seeing someone else living my dream and being so happy is so great. I'm a little jealous though.

You know, if I was in charge of targetting russian missiles, I think I'd reserve a few for the us missile silos.
pcholt 4 years ago
thank god you're not in charge of targetting russian missiles
uuuultra 4 years ago 7
Yeah, Russia probably still has that silo targeted to try and take out our missiles before they leave the silos. Sucks to be him if WWIII hits...

Actually a nuclear weapon could detonate outside and you could sit inside safe as pie.
JaalaJ 4 years ago 4
No, actually you couldn't.
