  • He's a nice size

  • Coral snakes are very chill for the most part, but if one were to bite a person they may want to make an immediate hospital visit because their venom is very strong. Luckily coral snake bites in the US are rare.

  • thats a bigg'un

  • Thats awesome! I dream of catching a coral snake, but in Baton Rouge Louisiana the Texas and Eastern coral snake boundaries are just to the left and right of where I live. But I can still catch cottonmouths and copperheads. ; )

  • I've caught many but this is the largest i've ever seen!! a bite from him and you are in trouble. cool vid

  • red-n-yellow kill a fellow. i learned that in cub scouts way back in the day.

  • yep red on yellow kill a fellow red on black freind of jack

  • Iheard that 1 and red on yellow kill a fellow red on black, venom lack

  • A friend of mine was hiking the same area a recently and reported he saw the big coral again and she's doing fine.

  • i think i saw that same snake!

  • There are 2 types of Coral snakes:

    Venemous - Red-on-Yellow, kill a fellow.

    Non-venemous - Red-on-black, friend of Jack.

The one in this video was red-on-yellow - venemous.

  • actually the red on black one is a whole different species caled the milksnake but the ryme is right

  • actually theres only one the venomous kind. the other is a mimic variety of nonvenomous called a milk snake

  • @pgannon48 The non-venemous type is not a coral snake. It's usually milk snakes that have that red-black pattern. This one was definitely a coral snake though.

  • Friend, that was a huge Coral...they average about12-24"...next to a 51" we caught in East Texas back in 1957, that is the biggest I have ever seen. Great Video!

  • And he had a really calm demeanor too. At no time did I get the impression he was the least bit threatened by me. He just didn't like being around me.

  • I heard there less of a threat because they have to chew to inject venom rather than just stab like vipers.

  • you see them around austin from time to time, my sister who lives a few miles south of barton creek lost a dog to one. they are shy so i dont let them worry me that much

  • Just a few miles southwest of Austin in the Barton Creek greenbelt.

  • where was that? near bstrop? just got back from hikink and camping
