  • actually the 3800 v6 is supercharged not turbo and its the motor thats in the poantic grand prix gtp pushing about 250 horsepower and 230lbs of torque in a small v6 thats in a weightless cavilar so yahh its goana be fast

  • I used to have an 89 Crapalier. I got 36-38 mpg on a road trip once with the stock 4cyl. but it ran hot and shitty after 8 hours. It always lost a little antifreeze. I still sorta wish I'd had my Black 76 Vega GT 5 spd wagon to drop something else into and or modify it. I also wanted to widen a Vega wagon like a Camaro. Then Dodge sorta did that. The front end of the Vega was also similar to a Camaro. So a Camaro wagon was basically what I was thinking of. Bring back the VEGA ?

    You don't wanna change the wheel/tire size on the drive wheels if you're gonna race it, adding bigger, better looking wheels increases the drive ratio, making off the line starts, such as drag racing, slower overall. Some cars have the power and torque to make up for this, but even so, the more you change that ratio, the more speed/acceleration you will potentially (and most likely) lose. That's why you see a lot of stock wheels on the drive wheels, looks dumb, but serves purpose

    Changing the FULL diameter of the tires will do that. I know this because I looked into tires/wheels for better gas mileage. Smaller will do better for city.

    But besides that, I don't really care for rim size choice. I just don't know why someone wouldn't go with the lighter wheels. Switching steelwheels to some other rims could save a bit of weight (since everyone I know who does to 1/4 mile does everything they can about speed)

I have a 2012 jeep patriot....brand new and i know that they have troubles. every car does so stop uptalking your car on youtube and just watch videos to enjoy.

  • yanno that 3.8 is no shabby motor it has 215 hp and 240tq stock and thats in a camaro so think of the weight difference and to add a turbo geez depending on boost im guessing anywhere from a simple 12-25 range he could be pulling some serious HP to weight ratio probably 300-350 Hp in a lightweight compact vehicle awesome build guy..

  • @onebadg8 the camaro didnt have the 3.8 the rs had the 3.1 and the 5.0 the z28 had a 5.0 or a stock 350 and then the iroc z had the lt1 and that was from 82-92 also the buicks had the 3.8 and alot of other gm cars but not the camaro

  • @spoogethat ok.... 82-92 RS came with 2.8L v6 except 89 and 92. They optional 305's. 93-94 Camaro /Transam had 3.4L 95+ camaro RS had 3.8L's. Iroc Z's came with 305's with 5spd trans and 350's with auto trans. They were TPI's not LT1's. LT1 didnt come out till 92 in the Vette then 93 in camaro and trans am's.

    as the title says.. 3800 turbo motor.. aka the same 3.8L V6 that comes in the Grand Prix, GT, GTP... stock S/C'd 3800 is 240hp new.. throw a turbo and supporting mods and you're running 300-400hp... now put that in a car that weighs about 2700lbs (where as the gtp sedan weighs out at 3700...) and you get a fast ass cavy.. haha

Swap it with a smaller front rim set and rubbers. It's what I'd do in my car. Save yourself money, and time in the long run

    No replacement for displacement. Take for example a Top fuel Dragster...They use V8's and they produce close to 10,000 hp. A prime example there.. They're not doing that with 4 cylinder engines.

A cobalt is still the j-body platform, same as the cavalier, sunfire, sunbird, and a few other models. So before pretending to be all cool shit on youtube, think about what you're saying... whether it was a good or shitty car companies change them otherwise they get outdated and stop selling.

Yeah its completely possible, but in the long run you'll have invested like 8x as much in your 4 cyclinder. Dont even try to argue mate your just diggin your hole deeper, i can get a 350 chevy small block for about 100$ at a scrapyard, put a new head kit, cam and crank for about 500$ and i have a 400 horse engine. Your 4 cylinder would have to be built as fuck to handle 400 hp.

  • @eggbeaters dont beleive that. they call them tuners for a reason, because they have to be tuned to make any power at all. Sure your civic gets 500 hp but a mustang or a charger any of those cars get 400+ stock and can make upwards of 1000 hp with the amount of boost and engine work to make a "v8 killer" unless your talking about dead 80's v8's with 120 hp..

  • @TurboTPI The Buick designed, non-balance shaft, 3.8l was a different engine. A GM 3800 can be used with a 60 degree, "metric" bellhousing. The buick designed B.O.P. mounting flange isnt usable without an adapter.

    The GM 3800 is used by buick, BUT its not related to the original buick design. the only thing that they share in common is CID and a "split-pin" crankshaft.

    This car may very well have a Buick designed B.O.P. 3.8l sfi, however if it has a GM 3800, then ill stick to what I said.
