This was deadmau5's first release. He was a sound engineer and made/released this to make fun of how generic house music could be. It caught on and the rest is history.

Long before that as a kid he made chip tunes that caught on and ten years ago ended up being hired by Tommy Lee to help make an electric sound in Methods of Mayhem. Also look up the band "WTF?" in which deadmau5 is a part of and collaborates with Tommy Lee on a couple songs.
