  • @67ShelbyMustang500 that sucks! I got a classmate who has a 66' Catalina all in primer & driveable but he says he is having a heel of a time trying to find parts to restore it..sucks its a sweet looking ride!

  • Idk about you but I think the Gm won lmfao!

  • My uncle just sold his 62 Catalina Heavy Duty because he couldn't find any parts for it. I think he made a huge mistake.

  • these two, plus the fairlane 500 vs sport fury max wedge is where it all started. there times are right up with the big boys from the late sixties early seventies. we knew how to build cars in the early sixties. they say the 389 tri power GTO was the first muscle car. i say these four "beasts" were it. remember these four numbers: 409, 421, 426, 427. all you need to know.

  • @diettsy whoooo wait how can you forget the 409 beating 406 screamer or the hi-po390? light weight galaxies?

  • @1962Galaxie514ciMPFI ok, you got me with that. never heard of 406. 460, yes. 390, yes, but not 406. light weight galaxie is the car i thought i was thinking of. got a picture of a "boxtop" galaxie 500 in my muscle car pic collection.

  • @diettsy lol nah the 460 wasnt offered from ford until 69 or 70 i believe (but only for town car and big trucks 350 and up. the 429 was offered in 68 but ford offered a stroker kit for the 429 just a crank and piston swap same bore size and same length connecting rod's.but the 406 was the engine that stomped on 409s from the factory!

  • @diettsy the 406 was rated from ford with 405hp in reality they made more, there were so many different combinations with the 427, look at the heads lo-riser med-riser hi-riser, sohc, and tunnel port all 427's offered single or dual carb setup and solid lifter cams.

  • @1962Galaxie514ciMPFI went and looked it up. had to. 405 horses. wow. a tri-power car! that is awesome. does the two carb 427 make more power?

  • @diettsy I agree 100% Though many say it was because the GTO was an intermediate car. Regardless, any of the top performance cars before it could take it even if they were "full-size"

  • The Slim Jim transmission is holding the Pontiac back big time...

  • @Bonneville462 I may be mistaken, but I think the 2+2 had the turbo hydramatic, not the slim jim.

  • @ToyKingWonder Turbo Hydro came out in 65.

  • both cars turned very respectable times. Some late model cars don't run as well.

  • Yes the Imp ran 5 mph faster and .15 second quicker. Nobody is arguing that. It still lost because it red lighted. Can't argue that either. It's as plain as day watch the video again. Both cars are cool. That Chevy has some serious top end pull. Must be a dual quad.

  • It did win if you look at the score board. Remember, the Impala is much heavier.

  • Yay the Impala won!

  • @Supergungun actually no the chevy did not win. The impala left early and the pontiac caught up.

  • @led62GP it didnt leave early and even if it did the track records time from when the car moves not when the light turns green

  • Thats what i call old school.
