I find it almost funny how uninformed and ignorant some people are. methadone was not made to get people off of heroin, it was made as an opioid analgesic. it was later found useful to assist heroin addicts in detox. but, that still didn't reassign it from what it was: pain medication. I have RA and my doctor prescribes it to me for pain. if you're not an idiot and take it as a competent doctor prescribes, you'll be absolutely fine.

Hey everyone, I too am an opiate addict. I was using IV heroin everyday for over 4 years. I got on suboxone at first without insurance and had to pay $7 per pill for 90 pills per month plus Dr. fees, which cost a lot per month just to stay clean. I've since gotten great insurance which allows me to get all my suboxone for free and I have a lot of extra suboxone scripts left over. Some people claim that Methadone "works". The only reason it works is because it's legal and heroin is illegal in the eyes of the law. If Heroin was legal and controlled like Methadone, it would work too perhaps even better than Methadone because it is nowhere near as harmful as Methadone. Heroin does not rot your bones or change your brain as drastically as Methadone does. It is a killer drug canon by the pharmaceutical companies because of one simple reason...money.

Take it from someone whose an opiate addict for 20+ yrs, methadone is the devil's drug. It is 10x more addictive than heroin but brings no benefits to the user. The cunt doctor just started dropping my dose by 5 mg's per month...at that rate it will take me another full year to be off it...

Unfortunately they don't offer suboxone where i live...If you live in wpg, Mb be careful of your local methadone clinics!

Need my info. I take methadone, 120 mgs a day, with hyrocodone and lyrica for pain management.....So I'm stacking doses several times a day....makes you wonder if you can go years normally doing this and be fine, why another day it could kill you. i have to take methadone for severe pain due to several surgeries i've had on my cervical spine. methadone is a safe drug when used properly. doctor's prescribe it because it is long acting and u don't have to take a lot of it. i had no problems weaning off it when i became pregnant. it was easier than any other narcotic to wean off of. it's not the doctor's fault that patients abuse the drug! should we ban fast food restaurants because people abuse food and get fat and die from obesity?

in the uk methadone prescriptions are dispensed under supervision at the pharmacy. only when trust is built with your doctor and opiate free screens are regularly given will they consider trusting the patient with their precriptions.

The video actually said the drug is quite effective but simply people need to take care with it since it is a powerful medication. I know an addict who was saved by checking into a methadone program. Perhaps the worst part of the story is when the time came to stop taking methadone. The withdrawal symptoms lasted for months complete with insomnia, depression, seizures, and lassitude. It took about a year for that person to begin to feel somewhat normal again. I suppose it was worth the hurt because if it was not for the methadone in time of need, that person would have probably been dead all things considered.

Just like most meds, if you take too much, it can kill you. Follow dosing prescription. If doc prescribes too much, sue doc. If person takes methadone dose over what their prescription calls for, or combines other drugs their doc didn't know about, it is THAT persons fault!!! Methadone is not the problem. Also if you pick it up daily and are fed up of doing so, ask your doctor for a twice weekly collection script. Pt.2 - A year ago I went to India when I was on Methadone, over there you can buy virtually any medicine OTC. So while I was over there I had the following drugs in my system, Methadone, Temazepam, Alprazolam (Xanax), Nitrazepam, Diazepam, Librium, Zopiclone, Zolpidem, Diphenhydramine, Cannabis & a small amount of alcohol. Sure I was off my face but no where near unconscious.

I don't know how correct that is about opiate overdoses rarely killing, because I know a few people who died off of overdoses from opiates and my uncle who's a methadone addict and nodds out, his heart stopped 3 or 4 times already and they were luckly able to bring him back. They even told him next time they really don't think they'll be able to bring him back if his heart stops again from an OD. He's been on methadone for like 5 years now and I'm starting to think it's going to kill him.

beyond that the dose is stable in the system it will not build up and kill u later.

I take 1 10mg pill 4 x day, plus 1 io mg klonopin for epilepsey. I had a spnal fusion in low back, got back to work and got run over. Now I have broken fusion and 3 discs herniated and bulging. Mixing Methadone with Codeine Probably wont kill. Mixing Methadone with Benzos is dangerous if you don't have a tolerance. You can die very easy from Methadone. Most deaths are from people who dont have a tolerance and don't understand how powerful it is. Thinking 5 pills wont kill and they take it with some Klonopin and BAM!! Dead meat. You may as well throw the other pain meds in the toilet than take them because the methadone will BLOCK them. I have been on methadone for 3 years and am still on it today. I've mixed it with every kind of drug, prescriptions and alcohol and have never had a "near fatal accident"

I started taking 10mgs a day and now take between 100 to 150mgs in a 24 hour period and still am i able to function properly.

I hate methadone!!! I was on it for 5 years and it was like the grip of the devil himself. We called it liquid handcuffs. I have been off for 2 months and life is so much clearer, beautiful, and free...Personally i believe that there are other alternatives to manage pain...but the w/drawal is severe pain, so it fucks your brain into telling you that you need more and more. (that is only my opinion) I had to put it down. ANd i did...I am free today!!! No more emotional numbness or spiritual death

I TOTALLY agree. I am a chronic pain patient who is on methadone. It literally SAVED MY LIFE. These fucking people act like the pills are FORCING themselves down the patients throats. 60mg of methadone almost blocks morphine entirely, respiratory supression side effects may be cumulitive, but any educated person knows that mixing opiates will reduce the high.

EG morphine and codien is opium, seperate the two and morphine works more etc etc.

Respiratory supression is increased when opiates r mixed, but the buz is less. mixing them reduces strength, eg, heroine is X8 stronger than opium, heroine and codiene mixed is called recon. opium, which is weaker. opium esencially being morphine and codiene. subutex is buprenorphine- agonist antagonist- a full blocker, but an anealgesic.
