@Whirlyy i cant get it work anymore on Lion, as i said best way is to install windows natively or try virtualbox, but i dunno about performance, if you install windows using bootcamp it will work just fine, i ve windows7 64bit in dual boot, and its perfect

only official server rare supported by CX on OSX today, you can check on code weavers website, the best way to play RO is still to install windows through bootcamp, and you will have no problem at all

im trying to get Ragnarok Online (actually its TalonRO) to work on my MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leo, 2.53 GHz Dual Core - Core 2 Duo, 4 GB DDR3 Ram and 9400m NVidia)

Crossover Games 10.0.1.

I go to "Install new Software", choose Ragnarok Online and point to the installer for TalonRO (.exe).

Whenever i try to start TalonRO, it freezes at the TalonRO Server screen.

Could you or anyone else help me pls?

what you ve done? istalled on crossover, or on windows?(bootcamp) virtual machine? or what, aniway im not sure...what video cards do you have?

if you have installed on windows, make sure to install drivers also...if virtual machine, install "virtual machine tools" to enable 3D if crossover...well i dont know try a different resolution

there was an option in control panel(system pref) to use functions keys as normal keys, or remap them f1-F2-Fx...to fn-Fx, in system preferences

okay so i followed the instructions and all that

i downloaded the chosenRO large installer.exe (it was 1.46 gigs and i was told thats the one you download to play it..) so i donwload that and i installed it and everything BUT when i go to the programs heading, and go into "chosenRO" all thats in there is "uninstall chosenRO" ..soo uhh what do i do...?

im sure if you google it, you wiil find more info..in your case sound like a wrong installations, but aniway for what i remember not all servers work...and now its a long time that i dont play with crossover, i have a dual boot with windows7 and i play my games there, but xp or vista work too, or virtualbox if you dont want make a partition with bootcamp..of course if you install windows you need an antivirus too...but have more games..and keep using osx for all others task

@DarkS3phiroth17 ohh okay thanks. yeah so i just gave up with the chosen thing cause liek you said, probaly soemthing wrong with the installation. so i got the same server as the video (talonRO) and it works and everything...but the problem is that the screen is all fuzzy and its liek a mirror image..so i only really see half of the screen..soo any ideas?

in the installation folder there is a "setup" setting the right resolution and full screen..

then in crossover option, open "wine configuration" there settings for video too.

i dont remember exactely..but prolly you should play with those configs

if you have a new mac, you can install windows in virtualbox(free) or vmware...if you dont want install it native through bootcamp(dual boot 100% work)

alternatively you can double check if you have the last version of "Crossover games" and then try with another client

you should play with settings in RO folders, and adjust resolution from wine preferences...aniway i dont play RO anymore...dont have time, there are couple of good guide on how to..google it

Osx is bsd, iptables isnt...you should look for ipfilter port from bsd, an equivalent is peer guardian, but i doubt that will solve your problem, why do not install windows on vmware or virtualbox instead? if you dont want to use bootcamp..should be more than enough to run ragnarok(supposing you have a recent mac)

Not meaning to seem like a hater (which I'm not as I am fully for getting wind0ze apps/games to work under mac, but when you said 'run natively under OS X', I am afraid if it is running through Crossover, then it's not exactly native is it? Native is when a mac version has been released, not running a wind0ze game under effectively what is a wind0ze emulator that can be run without an installation of a wind0ze version anywhere on the system.

in fact it run native without windows, only use some library, there are also total conversion of many games and software...is the same as run appz on wine under linux, you still dont need windows...also on windows you cant run mac appz or linux appz...and this is not an emulation, is a virtualization kinda different, is use openGL library from osx in this case, is just a translation enviroment.

sometime is not possible, so people would just install wind0ze on mac(pc).

@DarkS3phiroth17 Yeah, I know there are mac ports of wind0ze games, but running under Crossover/WINE/Darwine etc aren't native. Native (In my mind anyway) means something that you can download in either a .zip/.dmg/.pkg etc . so that you can run it without needing another program to open it.

open the setup of the games, in RO installation folder, check the full screen box.

go also in manage bottles, open the bottle where you have installed RO, open winecfg, set to create a virtual desktop by default, 800x600 for example, and try again.

if you are go to try virtualbox, be sure to install correct driver, and vbxtool, or it wont work for sure, there are many tutorials online.

if you want to try crossover, you can dl crossover pro 8, or crossover games, from the manufacter website.(trial version)

on mac you have IPFW, should look for commands for that, if you know what you are doing

What I did: I downloaded Crossover 7.1 and 7.2, downloaded RebirthRO Small Client and I downloaded the latest Sakray from Ratemyserver....installed it using the directions provided on your sidebar; and the game will not load after the patcher. D:

Crossover, then Sakray? then the small client and patch from the small client?

I've tryied to know more about this problem and i found that linux users too have got this problem because ragnarok cannot connect to the real adress but it tries to connect on a strange (fake) address, they just do this on a terminal window:

iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -d (FAKE IP ADDRESS) -j DNAT --to (REAL IP ADDRESS)

But there's no iptables command on OS X...

I don't know what to do.

after u have sucefully installed last sakray, dl small version of your client, and install in the same bottle(and folder) , or click on programs->run commands..and choose the installer of client then run..

u need mfc42.dll and msvcp60.dll to make RO work, placed in ur system32 folder
