Curtis Mayfield had his own sound ... He was a great musician, performer and had his own cult of celebrity. (Synthesizers? Sorry, don't here them). The band may not be tight, they're live, if you want tight listen to a recording.

Don't know what you young people are hearing,but these backing musicians do not jell together,they suck.They do not hear the groove,they are just playing the notes.I'm sorry to say this,but african-american musicians play grooves better,most formally trained musicians cannot,He needed some bro's up there.But he is amazing,singing the lead and backround parts and playing guitar.
