  • what can one say ,the blending of the movies with the music of Al Stewart great stuff .Will now hope to watch Casablanca soon

  • You did a MAGNIFICENT JOB integrating and blending scenes from great, memorable films with Al Stewart's hit classic. Thank you so much for posting!!!! From an avid movie buff: You're the BEST!!!!!!

  • I love it.

  • What a classic! You made a classy video for a song that has been part of the sound track of my life wherever I might have landed! Thanks!

  • one of my favourite songs, great vid, thnx for sharing:)

  • what beautiful years we had what memories

  • Love love love. 80s life was simple, uncomplicated. Take me back to the 80s!!!

  • omg things were so simple then with simple enjoyable lyrics classic xxx

  • A.I.T.Great music,great training.Great memories!!

  • very well done, the clips you picked are perfect,

  • well done man , well done

  • This time it took me so long to add this to my channel!

It was about time. Great video!

I have lost my ticket, so I have to stay.

  • You did a great job - too bad TCM wouldn't be interested in this because it waasn't done by someone "in Hollywood," submitted an "outsider" w/o an agent, etc.

  • Humphrey Bogart is so handsome in 3:05

  • This is beautiful. Thank you.

  • Really enjoyed this

  • Fantastic job! I was not only mesmerized by the incredible live performance but at the clips involved as well.

  • Great video!

  • Lyda nuestra primera canción 1977

  • bravoღ°

  • Listening to this on a rebroadcast of Art Bell - 1999 late night radio show. What a great song, and to think there were no ipods or Blackberries in the seventies - life was great- or part of it , and the music was enough- sometimes more than enough!

  • @FromCarol ....I miss those simple, care-free days of the mid to

    late 70's....things were so uncomplicated:)

  • belin

  • I wish the lyrics were here.....I really like the way bvon put this together :)

  • Bvon..only one word...Fantastic..you have the music and film in your soul..thank you..

  • hola a todos esta cancion es muy hermosa me trae lindos recuerdoosssssssssssss

  • Excellent!! That's what I have to say

  • Most exclnt concept, v well executed.

(It is NOT e-z 2 get vids & tunage sync'd so well.)

U do the song justice, & broaden & deepen it.

Anyone who knows only Al Stewart's radio hits (this & Time Passages), might want 2 try his less-well-known work, esp albums "Modern Times" & "Past Present & Future."

The latter has his Magnum Opus, the cult-classic "Roads to Moscow" (imagine the genius it takes 2 pen a musically brilliant, catchy song that's a history lesson on WWII), + many more gr8 tracks.

  • VERY well done!

  • Great use of clips and I liked how you cut back to Stewart's performance throughout. This song is a classic because you almost experience a real encounter by listening and everyone's interpretation is unique to themselves.

That's what great music and great art really is.

  • @provgrays you got that right!

  • Stunning! Very beautiful work! You, if you're not already, may want to consider going professional on this work. I'm still looking for someone to do Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights and the 1992 movie as well as your Year Of The CAt. I'm deeply impressed.

  • Home Run!

  • Home Run!

  • A true classic.....great work on the vid!

  • Definately takes me back as well.....

  • I listen to this song Everyday..

  • Takes me back. Damn how I long for those simpler days. Happy days. Innocent days/

  • absolutely fucking brilliant....

  • ¿Alguien sabe decirme dónde puedo descargarme este video? Muchas Gracias.

  • awesome :)

  • You have found your niche in life. Excellently done!

  • "Silk dress flowing like a watercolour in the rain" Such beautifully crafted music and lyrics - music these days? Garbage.

  • Well pieced together.....Thanks bvon44.. I play this on a regular basis!

  • Ooooh! There's something about his lyrics that just turn me on!

"On a morning from a Bogart movie

In a country where they turn back time

You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre

    Contemplating a crime"

So romantic! It's like he's painting a watercolor of the scene. BTW I was born the year this came out. My Dad says this song and "Song on the Radio" were massive hits.

  • @BassPlayerSusan All good songs paint a picture with their lyrics. It is a shame that manufactured bands of the late eighties, nineties and of course now; plus that pillock Simon Cowell and the gullible public have all but consigned GOOD music, meaningful lyrics and emotional content to the dustbin of history. I am so glad I was born in the fifties, the kids just DON'T know what they are missing...

  • Love it - such a great tribute to Al Stewart - Bogey - and terrific music !!

  • Great work on the video for a fantastic classic tune!!!

    One of my favorites :)

And never seen "To Have and Have Not", will be soon though Thx

  • Totally boring - badly edited and no continuity.

  • Grande Al Stewart

  • Triple thumbs up man !!!!! I stumbled on this today . .. Have you done anything with One the border? Spot on !!!

  • Wow! Great mix of old and new. Love this song and love Bogey!! Thanks for posting.

  • this is the song that i ever listen

  • my very favorite noir actress is veronica lake!

  • @hauntedscarecrowmurd omg Veronica makes me droooooooooooooooollll.....

  • if you are in the mood...film noir is excellent!...

  • classic&classic...thanks bvon for posting

  • Great work, bvon! This song is a favorite of mine and to include the classic film with Bogie, Peter and one of the Babydolls of the screen!

  • This an outstanding video creation!!!...How in the world did you edit the film clips into the video and still nail the timing of the music and lip movement...great work, bvon44.....

  • Very cool video. Thanks

  • I just love this! For a fan of classic movies & Al Stewart, this is heaven :) Excellent editing - the ending is perfect (but where's The End)? :))

  • Man, you are missing your calling if you don't do this for a living. So well done and fits perfectly with the song.

  • When I saw the clip of Bogart taking a drag off of the cigarette my first thought

was Don Johnson on Miami Vice

  • Damn good good good video. Excellent job bvon44.oxoxoxoxoxox

Love the piano , guitars and last but not the least, I love the sax.

Thanks for a terrific video with the year of the cat xo

    Philis

  • Love this song! but the guy in the background kicking a cross sucks... probably ignorant people associating Jesus with religion, but sucks still sucks. Jesus didnt condemn the woman taken in adultery, but religious a-holes condescend and kill in Jesus' name... what a true crime...

  • @66GraceWalker My dear Grace, you need to ask questions and seek answers before blurting things out. Look up Old Grey Whistle Test (FB, Wiki, wherever..) and you will find that the image is that of someone kicking a star. As the star is kciked, it lights up.

Look on my page and you will find an OGWT playlist.....

  • schon nummerke

  • This is really cool. Nice job of mixing live performance with movie clips. Cool thing about youtube and the creativity people explore....

  • very clever well done

  • Fabulous!

  • excelente work bvon44.....you took me back alot of years....classic music with classic movies nothing can beat that.....congrats from MEXICO

  • I like it so much :-)

  • I was born in 1988... but I cannot deny that this song is a wonderful song.

  • Bravo: very well done. Thanks very much.

  • This is really cool - nice job putting it together. Year of the Cat is one of my all-time favorite songs, so I like to have several versions on my playlists.

  • great!!!

  • EXCELLENT!!!!!! *****

  • Cool as hell! Al should see this... You matched the song to a tee...

  • Correggetemi se sbaglio, ma Al Stewart ha una certa somiglianza con Silvia dell'isola dei famosi :-))))

  • For Tanya Joy Isaac, yeah i escaped, Lorenzo.

  • For Tanya Joy Isaac, yeah i escaped, Lorenzo.

  • funny how a song can take you right back to your childhood........the 70s ! great and simpler time in life !

  • @ronnied828 amen brother!

  • This is unique, and done so well. I always associated this song with a video like this in my mind back then. Of course, not sure what my mind was on at the time.

  • BRAVO!

  • Beautiful job! Well done.

  • Fine peice of work. I too have always thought of Casablanca when I hear this song.

  • bvon, you've done a superb job with this; excellent conception, and great execution. Thank you for putting in the bench-work, and for sharing it w/us.

Care to tackle On the Border, or maybe Roads to Moscow?

Or maybe Sting's Mad About You?

  • It's always sounds so good, I never tire of it. It is one of the greatest songs written and performed. And typical of me I discovered it in the eighties, a good ten years after being a hit, why Oh why was I so focussed on Heavy Metal and Punk at that time! Oh well, we live and learn!

  • I do believe that, although the music is old it is still amazing and much much better than anything of today like the shitty rap and hip-hop. All that sucks. This song is amazing in particular. I love it!

  • It is the band 70s or 60s ?

  • 1970's. Al Stewart is the name of the artist.

  • This song just gives me CHILLS....and takes me back to happy/careless childhood....!!!

  • Thanks for sharing StevenGA1011 - OMG this evokes amazing memories for me too - Its also a big FAVE of my sister's - she adored Al Stewart. Long hot summers that you hoped would never end and drinking Tequila Sunrises.

  • I love this song!

  • You've done a brilliant job on this, congratulations.

  • @aykaymusic

Why didn't you keep this in your Chepickle account??

  • excuse me? do I know you?

  • @Sharky2055

You ALREADY admitted to me your other account is Musicaykay. You know you're Chepickle, just give it up and admit it for a change.

  • my compliments to all the 35,000 who watched this song...u all have a good taste ..one of the best songs ever

  • You did a very nice job on this. My compliments.

  • This song comforts to me , thanks 4 Share ;-)

  • good vision

  • Although I've heard this song many times and visualized this video in my head many times you my friend have brought it alive and I do mean alive. Thanks so much for this great post and for sharing with us all your great imagination.

    RS

  • I love this song. It gives me chills too. Thank you bvon for theis very creative and entertaining video.

  • This beautiful haunting song was in the movie Running With Scissors....just gives me chills...

  • I love this song, puts me in a trance and gives me goose bumps. They don't make them like this anymore. Thanks .

  • I am addicted to this. Thanks!

  • Still great! Yikes! Where are all the present musicians like this NOW?!!

  • Uh, we have the jonas brothers and fifty cents. What more could you want???

Thank god MTV keeps giving us good music..........

  • You're just a sap! You know no better. It's not your fault!

  • @fockingclassy I hope you are talking with sarcasm. Or that you are retarded. Cuz you can't mean what you just typed. You got to check some real music. Such as Metallica,Led Zeppelin,Eric Clapton,Beatles that kind of music and if you want hip hop dont listen to fifty listen to A Tribe Called Quest

  • I can appreciate good sarcasm when I read it. Good one!

  • The days before X-Factor ruined music

  • ....well....another classic of my childhood...remembered with plesure!

  • This is from the TV program The Old Grey Whistle Test presented by Bob Harris we had top class artist in this day and age of about 1976 we never realized it we just took the artist for granted.

    Nostalgia it should be banned.

  • I remember seeing this live on OGWT. I was in Scotland at the time, what a time I was having, 20 years old and having the time of my life. Like the music, we never realised it would all come to an end. Now I sound like my dad, cos I told my boys what he told me, "enjoy the time you have, you only have it once". Now they have children of their own, probably repeating the same words over. Strange, this life we have...great music, great times.

  • This song soars to great heights - while simultaneously tapping something deep in my soul. I can never listen to it just once whenever I chance to hear it. Classic.

  • genius editing job

    beauty......

  • Kudos on some absolutely tremendous stuff. Was looking for some Peter White clips, (who is the keyboardist here with Al and smooth jazz icon) and am glad to have found this - thanks!

  • What a classy tribute to one of my all-time favourite songs! thank You!

  • The initial chords are C - D- Em

  • I know it's a bit daggy, but this is my all time favourite track. Especially the soaring sax solo! takes me back to '76. I'd just turned 17 and when a song hits you at 17, it stays special for life (so far)

    thanks heaps for this

  • Well done, more art and passion in the story line, music, an music clips than in all the sound recorded and relelased last year. Sound without feeling is not ar and is not alive. this is so very full of feelings is explodes in your ears and heart.

  • Read my post from about a month ago, yours is very succinct and exploded into my heart when I tead it. You are truly a lover of GOOD music, not like this pap that is released nowadays, all show and no go

  • This is a superb and very original piece.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • I truly love this song! One of my all - time favorite songs! It's perfect, it reminds me of many good things. =)

  • Absolutely SHIT HOT. When I hear this I am immediately catapulted back in time to the seventies, when I first heard this in Amsterdam. I can smell the smells, feel the streets beneath my feet, hear the sound of the trams, and remember vividly the colours of the chairs and tables of the cafe where I first heard it. You've done an excellent job of this fella, how about doing it for "on the border"?

    Please. Pretty please.

  • Excellent work, bvon! Very professional-looking! I'd love to see what you do with the other songs. You've GOT to do "Time Passages" and "Song on the Radio". Looking forward to seeing future videos. Keep up the great work!

  • I've been trying to formulate a video around Time Passages but its tough finding a good quality video of the original song.

  • @Blackwolff9 amazing video mate,thanks for posting

  • tutti hanno una canzone che sentono propria...che ricorda momenti felici....questa e' la mia!!!!!!!

  • Wow! This takes me to another time and place....I love it. Thanks :)

  • Thank you!! wonderful song

  • Beautiful job..well done..!! Love it! My Fav Al Stewart equals Time Passages...for sure..x

  • Excellent Job! Thanks so much!

  • the sax solo in the lou reed song "walk on the wild side" would be a worthy competitor

  • Excelente video como buena musica en la cual letra del tema refiere a la pelicula "casablanca" y dos grandes actores. gracias.

  • Wonderfully done! Perfect choices of clips that match the tone of the song's lyrics.

I love this song, and have often thought what a movie based on it would look like...now I know.

  • I forgot to say thank you for putting your own touches to this wonderful song and video. You did a wonderful job.

  • this is one of my al time favorite songs. I wish i had been born back in those days. When things were simpler, and the music had a deeper meaning.

  • Best sax solo of all time. Bar none.

Fantastic video clips here. Well done.

  • "the one you love" by glenn frey has killer sax too

  • I love it, thank you, I bought this 45 for my first boyfriend who I loved very much and after 30 years I found him

  • Amazing video. Great work. Long live Peter White and Al Stewart.-Mark

  • masterlijk

  • Starting at 2:50 ... scene of a woman running on what looks like a beach. Does anyone know what film that was from? Any help would be deeply appreciated.

  • Just answered my own question...found out it was a beach scene in Out of the Past. Thought at first it might be Casablanca. That's femme fatale Jane Greer running along the beach. Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • geweldig
