You did a MAGNIFICENT JOB integrating and blending scenes from great, memorable films with Al Stewart's hit classic. Thank you so much for posting!!!! From an avid movie buff: You're the BEST!!!!!!
You did a great job - too bad TCM wouldn't be interested in this because it waasn't done by someone "in Hollywood," submitted an "outsider" w/o an agent, etc.
Listening to this on a rebroadcast of Art Bell - 1999 late night radio show. What a great song, and to think there were no ipods or Blackberries in the seventies - life was great- or part of it , and the music was enough- sometimes more than enough!
(It is NOT e-z 2 get vids & tunage sync'd so well.)
U do the song justice, & broaden & deepen it.
Anyone who knows only Al Stewart's radio hits (this & Time Passages), might want 2 try his less-well-known work, esp albums "Modern Times" & "Past Present & Future."
The latter has his Magnum Opus, the cult-classic "Roads to Moscow" (imagine the genius it takes 2 pen a musically brilliant, catchy song that's a history lesson on WWII), + many more gr8 tracks.
Great use of clips and I liked how you cut back to Stewart's performance throughout. This song is a classic because you almost experience a real encounter by listening and everyone's interpretation is unique to themselves.
Stunning! Very beautiful work! You, if you're not already, may want to consider going professional on this work. I'm still looking for someone to do Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights and the 1992 movie as well as your Year Of The CAt. I'm deeply impressed.

oh yes....I meet my soul mate....this record...what can I say ...... memories.... living in huddersfield.... The Amsterdam pub..great days & they still are....
Ooooh! There's something about his lyrics that just turn me on!
"On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime"
So romantic! It's like he's painting a watercolor of the scene. BTW I was born the year this came out. My Dad says this song and "Song on the Radio" were massive hits.
@BassPlayerSusan All good songs paint a picture with their lyrics. It is a shame that manufactured bands of the late eighties, nineties and of course now; plus that pillock Simon Cowell and the gullible public have all but consigned GOOD music, meaningful lyrics and emotional content to the dustbin of history. I am so glad I was born in the fifties, the kids just DON'T know what they are missing...
This an outstanding video creation!!!...How in the world did you edit the film clips into the video and still nail the timing of the music and lip movement...great work, bvon44.....

@66GraceWalker My dear Grace, you need to ask questions and seek answers before blurting things out. Look up Old Grey Whistle Test (FB, Wiki, wherever..) and you will find that the image is that of someone kicking a star. As the star is kciked, it lights up.
Look on my page and you will find an OGWT playlist.....
This is really cool - nice job putting it together. Year of the Cat is one of my all-time favorite songs, so I like to have several versions on my playlists.
This is unique, and done so well. I always associated this song with a video like this in my mind back then. Of course, not sure what my mind was on at the time.
It's always sounds so good, I never tire of it. It is one of the greatest songs written and performed. And typical of me I discovered it in the eighties, a good ten years after being a hit, why Oh why was I so focussed on Heavy Metal and Punk at that time! Oh well, we live and learn!
I do believe that, although the music is old it is still amazing and much much better than anything of today like the shitty rap and hip-hop. All that sucks. This song is amazing in particular. I love it!
Thanks for sharing StevenGA1011 - OMG this evokes amazing memories for me too - Its also a big FAVE of my sister's - she adored Al Stewart. Long hot summers that you hoped would never end and drinking Tequila Sunrises.

Starting at 2:50 ... scene of a woman running on what looks like a beach. Does anyone know what film that was from? Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Just answered my own question...found out it was a beach scene in Out of the Past. Thought at first it might be Casablanca. That's femme fatale Jane Greer running along the beach. Great video. Thanks for posting.
what can one say ,the blending of the movies with the music of Al Stewart great stuff .Will now hope to watch Casablanca soon

I've been trying to formulate a video around Time Passages but its tough finding a good quality video of the original song.

Wonderfully done! Perfect choices of clips that match the tone of the song's lyrics.
I love this song, and have often thought what a movie based on it would look like...now I know.

this is one of my al time favorite songs. I wish i had been born back in those days. When things were simpler, and the music had a deeper meaning.
