  • He could anihilate whole goddamn world. If only he gave a fuck

  • Am I the only person who finds both Tom Bombadil and this song rampantly weak and lame?

  • @krugerstan Yes, actually.

  • @bigballsbiggerdick He is in the book, as are several others characters.

  • can a fan please tell me who and how this guy is in LOTR? anyone

  • lmfao tom bombadill is such a badassss omg, reading the books he just makes me smile

  • In LOTR universe there are 5 kinds of people : No powers, hero powers, magic powers, overpowered and hilariously godly overpowered.

And then... there's Tom bombadil, who could have just simply walked/danced into mordor, punch sauron in the face, kick melkor in the nuts and be back before lunch time all while wearing the ring as a piercing on his dick.

If only he gave a fuck.

  • @Palamag1 nice copy pasta^^

  • its disappointing that the lord of the rings films left out tom bombadil's part in the quest, i would have very much liked to have seen him fighting off the barrow-wights, that particular part in the book provided a great read

  • Tom Bombadil would push Sauron's shit in.

  • Great song is it on itunes?

  • Tom Bombadil > Chuck Norris

  • I hate that tree :(

  • Tom Bombadil would wreck anyone's shit.

  • I still remember that damn tree.

  • I definitely wish they had put him in, but I can understand why they didn't. In a movie setting, where the storyline time is limited, as hard as it is to say, his was a disposable part. I'm not saying his part wasn't important, but it could be worked around, and I'm guessing they decided to do just that. With that said, Peter still could've included him in the extended version. If I was to be honest, I'm alittle frustrated that he didn't. =/ It is as it is, and I still love ya Pete!

  • I love The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, but it isn't very faithful, despite what people may say. There are so many differences, the omission of Tom Bombadil being one of them. It's a shame, because the section of the book with Tom and Goldberry is one of my favorite parts of the book.

  • One does not simply walk into Mordor. Especially Tom Bombadil. He sorta does this hopping-waltz dance while singing uplifting songs.

  • Bright blue his jacket is and his boots are yellow!

  • Another thought and then I'll shut up and enjoy Bombadil's singing :P I like the portrayal of Goldberry (on the trading card at 1:00) 'cos she's still youthful and pretty, but she doesn't look like a teenager... I mean, Gawd! If she's the River-woman's daughter then she's an ancient being too. So I think it's more appropriate for her to have a little bit of maturity to her, instead of looking like a bimbo (which unfortunately she gets portrayed as oftentimes).

  • 1:32

Being Tom Bombadil for Halloween; I need to memorize this verse to do it any justice

  • @DinosaurViking How'd that turn out?

  • @Spitfirebird Sadly, I didn't. But that didn't stop me from skipping merrily and making my friends look at me funny.

  • Makes up words whenever he needs to rhyme?

    Tom is Dr. Seuss.

  • THIS IS SCARY!!

  • how is the interpret of this song how sings ?

  • Also, I really wish they would have found a way to work him into the LOTR films. That would have been awesome. (I know they couldn't put everything in the books in the films, since that would mean each film would be about ten hours long, but still... wouldn't it have been great to see how they would have done the part where he makes the ring disappear?)

Bombadil's awesome, and much like honey badger, he don't give a shiz, he just does what he wants.

  • @ThatsMyNerdGirl The director spoke about it and said they couldn't add him into the film because they needed the space to show gandalf being snatched up by sauron

  • @MrBmantheman Fair enough... but I, too, would have loved to have seen Brian Blessed in the role of Bombadil in the films... oh, well, I guess one has their imagination for that. :)

  • @TheFoxyhatless Yes, Susan Boyle would be a good choice for Goldberry...

  • i think he was best done (well the best by Tolkien of course, but of adaptions) in the lord of the rings online game. he is the best character Tolkien created, after him come Glorfindel :) and he greatly reminds me of Väinamöinen or whatever the Old Man was named by finns, haveing read Kalevala. long live, Tom Bombadil! hey-doo merry boo or something :D

  • When playing Battle for Middle-Earth 2 one of my favorite things to do was summon him and watch annihilate everything in sight while saying things like "Didn't see that coming, did ya!?"

  • first reaction! :D

  • anyone wish he was in the movies and played by someone like brian blessed?

  • @12308madman YES YES YES!

  • @12308madman Yes, that would be frickin awesome.

  • bad

  • Very beautiful song!!

  • I always saw Tom as the original first born, innocent and oblivious to anything beyond "his" world. Goldberry seemed to me more probable as the earth in "human" form.

    Also beautiful Song! :)

  • @Hobgoblin93ZZZ i agree completely.

  • I cannot wait for THE HOBBIT to come out in 2012 <3 I love lord of the rings- books and movies. It is rather disappointing Tom wasn't in the LOTR movies. But cute song!!! :D

  • one can not simply walk into mordor... unless your tom bombadil

    Boromir:damnit

  • Hail everyone who help tolkiens world to come alive!

  • You put some pictures from LOTRO too =P

    Great pictures...

  • God i love this!

  • Tom pwns. That is all. **prances off skipping through the hills**

  • Seems like every time I watch this video there are new pictures... Am I going crazy, or are you adding pictures? :S

  • Tom Bombadil is the only person who can beat Chuck Norris!!!!

  • Chuck Norris disliked this.

  • @TheRahan100 bah. Chuck Norris respects the fact that he can't even shake a fist at the great and amazing TOM BOMBADIL!!!

  • @TheRahan100 Why Chuck Norris?

  • @Arwelora1337 hes scared of Tom bombadil

  • @TheRahan100 oh =P hahaha that's gotta be true... Chuck Norris knows Karate... and Tom Bombadil knows singing!!!

  • @Arwelora1337

Is that why Elrond called him to the council?

  • Where can I get this song? I must know!

  • @MOates79 The song is made by the Tolkien Ensemble you can by their CD with songs from the lord of the rings on amazon either that or you can just download it from the Internet.

  • TOM ROCKS!!!!!

  • Old Man Willow made an account and disliked this.

  • Tom Bombadil is the greatest bad-ass in all of literature.

Are ancient trees terrorizing adventurers? Tom Bombadil will kick that tree's ass!

Are Barrow Wights breaking out of graves, snatching your Hobbits up? Bombadil don't care, he'll sing songs and chew bubblegum. And he's all outta gum.

What about ancient rings of unthinkable power? Tom Bombadil doesn't give shit. He'll put 'em on his fingers and laugh in the Dark Lords god damned face. Then he'll sing some more and smoke some pipeweed.

  • @Spitfirebird And flip Sauron the bird, while using that same finger to poke him in the eye. "Up yours, Dark Lord! Hey dol, merry dol...."

  • @Spitfirebird especially the pipeweed

  • 2:00 LOTRO! Ha I remember him dancing around when you go to his house. Eventualy you get a quest from him and go on this whole undead fighting thing. The end boss wastes you and keeps healing its self until it stops, cowers and says, "No! It can't be..." then in comes Tom, saying, "Dead men do not walk the earth, so be gone!" The skeleton boss crumbles. Tom is awsome.

  • tom bombadil is god.

  • 2:09 creepiest Gandalf ever.

    behind tom and that fox

  • @osmanpineda *Scream* Agh! Not want!

  • @Erikjust

Can you tell me where I can get the picture at 1:25?

    Thanks

  • @boytiger3 most of the pictures in this video was either from google or deviant art just type Tom Bombadil in google pictures and you´ll find it on the first page.

  • Tom Bombadil is a boss.

  • If you guys want to see Tom Bombadil in very old movie, check movie called "Hobitit" (Its Finnish and means The Hobbits) Its about The Lord of the Rings and even Peter Jackson was inspired by it. Its here in youtube and subbed in English!

  • Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow;

Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow. <3

  • Isn't Tom supposed to be some kind of manifestation of a god or something in the story? He's definitely not a normal being.

  • @Eragarev Basically Tom is an avatar of GOD in the Lord of the Rings universe and I mean THE God with a capital G.

  • @Guciom No one knows actually, he is like the avatar of the earth itself, his behavior doesn't fit totally of the god... but neither of the other 2 divine races...

So it's a bit hard to figure it out, may be someone under god a being that has been arround always...

But as far as he said he was there when the dark lord (first one) came... but that doesn't mean he is actually older... he may he been born with the earth itself. (wich explains some conversations)

  • @tthething I'm thinking that he is one of the ainur, since they created Middle-Earth through song and music, and Tom's power stems from song and music. Just a thought.

  • @xy2z1997 Ainur and spirit of the earth itself is kinda the best 2 theories out there.

  • @tthething ya, that spirit of the earth works as well, since he'd have been created through the song, since he likes to sing so much. The earth was made from song, and tom is the earth, which would also explain his "master of the wood" title, a manifestation of the earth.

  • 0:57 O____O HOLY SHIT KILL IT WITH FIRE!

  • i think Tom Bombadil is a planeswalker.

  • @DragonMagi Magic player detected

  • He may be a minor character, but I like him a lot. wished he was in the movie.

  • Tom could dominate Dumbledor

  • @Zhucci yes.. and except from dumbledor he cannot die (i readed all potter books)

  • if i had a wish i should visit tom bombadil or become him :)

  • 1 person is Old Man Willow.

  • I want they to make a movie with all the characters from boooks, and

  • It was also suggested in the counsel of Elrond that they might give the Ring to Tom since he was powerful enough for the ring not to affect him.

However that was dismissed because either Gandalf or Elrond (i think it was Gandalf) said that Tom would most likely lose the ring/misplace it.

Because he didn´t really think it important.

  • @Erikjust true, i remember that passage aswell from the book, was it frodo that suggested it?

  • @Erikjust gandalf said it.. but i remember tom disagreed to keep the ring anyway

  • @Erikjust

tom bombadil doesn't give a fuck

  • @Erikjust Yea, that's right. But if I were Frodo, I would have just built a house in Tom's realm ... job done ;-)

  • @Erikjust Wasn't it because he would lose interest and set it somewhere and forget? (No douche intended, just trying to remember >_<)

  • @MyTakeGaming yes that was it exactly which could be argued is why it has no hold over him. Seeing world domination doesn't strike his fancy ;)

  • @Sp4ceus Yes......but Goldberry?

  • 2:14 gandalf on the left

  • tom bombadil was the first one ever in midle earth, he controlled time and al that kind of stuff he has great powers (maybe greater than sauron) he wasn't in the movie cuz he does nothing important, because he wanted to be neutral and was not interested. I first saw tom in the gam battle of middle earth 2 where he's is a special att for the humans, elves an (maybe) dwarfs. In the game he kicks ass

  • He's the fantasy Raffi!

  • he should have been the narrator in the tree movies of lotr.

  • Hashberry and Tim Benzadrino XD

  • I want they to make a Lord of the rings movies based on THE BOOKS!!!!!

  • Is George Takei singing this?

  • Most likely he was one of the Maiar. Somewhat similar to the following: Eönwë · Ilmarë · Ossë · Uinen · Salmar · Sauron · Melian · Arien · Tilion. etc. One of the subordinates to the Valar that entered Eä. I assume he never went to Arda. (?)

As a Maia, Tom wasn't affected by Sauron's Ring when handed to him, being akin to Sauron and not lesser.

Goldberry was, IMO, a Maia under Ulmo - Lord of Waters. Tom, perhaps, a Maia of Aulë - as was Saruman.

He would have been a great threat to Sauron.

  • @wizardssleeve i heard tom was the first being to step on middle earth before the valar

  • @hfdpayner Really? Where did you hear that? Love to check that out!

  • @wizardssleeve wikipedia lol, not the best source in the world but if you type tom bombadil in it comes up with loads of cool stuff

  • Tom and Goldberry what a merry couple =)

    Lovely!

    Cheers for share =)

  • Omg he has a very sexy girl

  • @FBFTheRagingWarrior hehe the old perv :)

  • Tom is such an intriguing character and Tolkien never talked much about him. He could be a reference to God. The One Ring has no effect on him, and when Gandalf talks about him he says he was here long before. And when Frodo asks his wife who he is she just says "he is". A shame they never added him to the movie, sure he didnt offer any advancement to the plot but he was still important. He was even a possible ring bearer in the Council of Elrond.

  • @S4LAm4ndr The Council of Elrond considered a lot of things and he might be a valar ^^

  • thanx for the song of

    Tom BombaDildo

    =P

  • Am I the only one who thinks he looks very slightly like Rory McGrath @1.11 ?

  • Tom Bombadil is a crazy f*ck.

  • tom bombadil = most epic guy ever he´s so cool i can´t understand why they chenged the beginning of the story so much tom bombadil is the most important character in lord of the rings

    TOM FTW =))))))))

  • id love to smoke some old toby with tom

  • This is one epic song.

  • Liked the first half, not the second.

  • doesnt sound natural imo.

not like a guy singing while hes on the road.

    love the song tho :p

  • Wonderful! Thanks for the upload!

  • too sad they forgot about tom in the movies

  • Well yes but i can understand why all in all he serves little purpose in the overall story, all they really get is the blades.

One of which Merry used to stab the witch king with.

That an of course Frodo had a vision one of Saurons tower and the other of him sailing into the west.

The problem is that Tom is an outsider he doesn´t get involved in the whole ring war as he has no interest in it.

All in all Jackson would have had great difficulty fitting tom in the movie.

  • @Erikjust Tom was a doll that one of Tolkien's children had. Just another bit of cooperative well meaning people who help the Ring on its way, but can not solve all problems. A spark of divinity is no guarantee that said divinity will solve your problems.

  • @Erikjust They did pay tribute to him with some of the sings that Treebeard said so he wasn't totally forgotten...

  • @Erikjust They did pay tribute to him with some of the stuff that Treebeard says so he wasn't totally forgotten...

  • @johnnyd5005 Really i think i must re watch those scenes. All I heard was him receding the first part on the Ent and the Entwife.

But then again i could be mistaken.

  • @Erikjust It's when Merry and Pippin get pulled under the tree roots...

  • @Erikjust Its in the extended versions of the LotR.

  • @Erikjust i read that jackson was going to film a scene whene the first bit of the song was sung and the hobbits saw tom's hat and ran away, but he didn't manage; sadly, as the part before rivendell is my favourite

  • @Erikjust Could be a deleted scene. Type in "ent water".

  • @Erikjust

i personally think that although he fits in the books, it would have been difficult for the movies.

but you do miss a vital part of the books, which is toms complete lack of care for the ring, he just plays with it and it does nothing to him.

  • @arkilus

Word to that! Tom is the best, and was a option discussed at the Counsel of Elrond as another way to protect the Ring It's really a shame that he was left out,

    Respect Tom Youtube goers

  • @arkilus yes ;(

  • @arkilus why? :( Poor P.J :( Tom and Old Man Willow are big characters in The FellowShip of the Ring :/

  • @arkilus And Glorfindel

  • Heh, heh..

The images at 0:44, 1:34-1:48 and 2:08 are by me. I did them for fun but some of them were used in a German Tolkien fan mag.

This is very well put together. I'm flattered my stuff was included :)

  • Goodness thank you! I've been wanting the full version for some time. Kudos

  • you did this very well congrats

  • Odd....when I read the book and it mentioned Tom Bombadil, I pictured him singing like bob dylan for some reason O.o

  • and here the full song. Thank you very much.

  • Tom is my best friend

  • Tok is my best friend

  • Comment removed

  • Ah the full song, good toms badass

  • tom's the best
