  • This looks like Tai Chi rather than Qigong? But sometimes the two things blur together.

  • no no no, this is nothing like real Qi practising... see the Shaolin monks what are they doing!!!

  • @HotSauceBG3 There are thousands of differet styles in Qi Gong. And also, they say, the more skilled you are, the less it looks "good", if you know what i mean.

  • I like the video a lot! When was it shot? The cars in the background look quite old...

  • Looks like these guys are really feeling Qi. I do it all the time. I was observing that the guy at the end of the video was actually also shifting the wind with Qi. You can hear it synchronizing to the Qi movements.

  • oh wow..alot of old man like him would walk very slowly and used a cane, but look at him,I guess any from excersise is really good for health

  • I bet he still uses a cane though... Just like Yoda.

  • These methods of qigong develop your Chi at a very slow rate.

  • 1:37 you can see energy if form of hi come out of his mouth. looks like electric

  • fantastic to see this first guy moving with such agility and so lightly on his feet too.. thanks for the upload

  • i tried doing these at the park and people keep staring at me!!!

  • That's because they're ignorant.

  • no, staring is not ignoring. It's just... special for them.

  • My comment was a reply to ahmega below.

Unless of course it's Yiquan maybe.

    ;-)

  • ^^ yes, i know.. :)

I'm sorry, but what is Yiquan?

  • Have a look at this as an answer to you question.

    /watch?v=ZtLipqVligY&feature=channel_page

    Hope this helps?

  • yes, it helped. Thank you! The pushing hands-exercise reminds me a bit on chisau-trainings.

  • Yeah-

..& even if they're genuinely interested, now, they'd assume that if ur doing it, in public, then u MUST be qualified to teach! lol It, being a potential embarrassment if u don't always know what ur doing, out there!

  • @MarcusDarling4026 did you not see the entire BUS LOAD of people doing Qi Gong warm ups?! This is a way of life for them. There is no potential of embarrassment with this.

  • For practice, YES, but to be qualified to TEACH not only the calisthenic tai chi, but to the level of using ACTUAL tai chi, which is almost another animal, completely! For most, its best not to even say- ..just DO.

  • We're not talking about the same thing then. Your comment was on the potential embarrassment if they didn't know what they were doing but doing it in public anyway. You are the one that resinates with, so it must be Your mirror. Only those with large egos have that problem! You must 'do' to learn and mistakes are apart of that for EVERYONE, NO EXCEPTIONS! To be embarrassed by making a mistake while learning is not to understand the nature of learning.

  • No-

    ..that's just IT-

..I'm not talking about a fear of LEARNING, I'm talking about being seen practicing on the street & taken for a master & not being "qualified to TEACH" but only showing what one knows, which may not be "proper" kata nor stance.

Do u now, see what I'm saying?

Sum1 may ask u if u can teach them how 2 do something that u arent even a master at, just maybe an intermediate. Ppl tend 2 blame their teachrz 4 failures so u tend 2 think twice abt even trying 2 teach like that.

  • That last part looked like part of the chum kyu form in wing chun.

And yea, like previous people have commented. i wish I could train that freely in the park without having people constantly pestering me about what I am doing. :)

  • Perhaps my favorite thing about this video is the true sense in which it explains how people in China can do these sorts of exercises so freely on the streets in front of anyone, anywhere, anytime...and have it be so completely void of the usual pretensiousness that that sort of thing can have attached to it in the states, largely because of "self-taught experts" who like the attention. Wonderful, vid. I actually feel all the more calm from watching it.

  • im gonna poke u to death and make you eat my foot

  • what is that first man doing...I KNOW QiGong, what style is that????

    Bless

  • @Jahrass7

There are hundreds of types of Qigong in China, maybe thousands. Some are designed even for specific illnesses.. sorry I can't help.

  • On guard, I'll let you try my Wu Tang style.

  • Keep up the comments and thanks for them!

  • nice vid

    Keep up the good work

    Paco

  • what was that at the end called?

  • Great video. Amazing how people can excersise freely outside and have no hang ups. How often do you see people in your park excersing on their own? Hats off to them..

  • Nice Video

  • i like how in their culture it is not a big deal to see some one focusing internally in public.

  • damn, that first guy moves more fluidly than I do and he must be 40-50 years older than me :-o.

This reminds me I must get back to my "chi kung" or Qi Gong as most people put it :-).

  • at least 15 years ago

  • they rock these old guys

  • helt enkelt fantastiskt!

  • Is this really Tai Chi?

  • well its Qi Gong e.e

  • The first guy is doing Xing Yi, a sister art to TaiJiQuan and most of the rest is Qi Gong.

"Tai Chi is in everything and everything is in Tai Chi" -from the Tai Chi classics.

  • thanks that makes sense to me ! :D

  • Actually Xing Yi is the sister art of Xin Yi Liu He Quan. But its all about moving the body and not getting to fat and living long. :) And fighting of course ^_^. Not intending to be rude.

  • This old dude is very limber he moves like a cat.

  • it is hsing i done with extreem relaxation

  • the first part: thats not qigong. it looks somewhat like tai chi, but it's way to fast, thats more like dancing..

the other people in the video show some qigong exercises. Qigong is alomst like doing nothing. its very good for your health. More people should try this.

  • You can't see the chain.

  • Qi gong is not limited to slow movements.

    Learn it.

  • @111oose

The still poses are called Zhan Zhuang -- stand post. They're used in many martial traditions (Bagua, Xingyi, Taiji, Yiquan, etc.) also, but alone they are excellent for health and improving stamina.

  • Whoa.....that dude still got what it takes to be flexible.....cool

  • that is taichi not gi gong

  • Qi Gong is in TaiJi.

"Taiji is in everything and everything is in Taiji." -Zhang San Feng

  • Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Can you imagine if people in the US did Qigong in the streets like this? People would think they were nuts.

  • They do. They are.

  • @mackenzienellis

    hahahaha

  • how recently were these vids taken,& any idea of the names of the first & last routines?

  • Well, i am just administrator for the videos shot by Dr. Gabriel Stux but i think that he shot it in early 80s when he visited China and was pleased to see the passerby doing the exercises.

Would let you know if there is more information. Thanks for commenting:)
