  • another "skyliner' organ, ready for take off

  • Finally a tasteful, no rush interpretation of this wonderful piece on a magnificent organ by one of the most inspiring organ players of our times.

  • Wow meneer Oortmerssen, wat een prachtige, luchtige manier heeft u om dit toch zeker niet eenvoudige stuk te brengen. Een genot om naar te luisteren! Bij deze heeft u een abonnee erbij.

  • I would love to hear this man playing Bach's Weimar stuff, and even the Clavier-Büchlein III

  • I echo the statements here this player is fantastic he is so in touch with the music. I can really relate to this. However, I would play this at a livelier tempo for performance. I think a little more showmanship and flashiness is acceptable.

  • This Principal sounds just wonderful. Finally, there is a performance which is not such a hectical vivace like many others. Harmonically, there is happening so much in this piece, that you never need to hurry. Not many people understand this, though.

  • Parfait, une sonorité d'une exceptionelle beautée!

  • Finaly...a Crystal clear playing in a dignified version, full of serenity

and completely free of the fucking hurry of the "virtuosi" ...

(please...I beg your pardon for saying such a words)

This video is a pleasure !

  • Very bad rhythm. His playing makes me sick.

  • @ulfnorberg

you must be kidding ...can you point exactly where the rhythm

    or execution is bad ?!

  • @harpsinth

There are several passages with 'added rhythm'. It's not an error - van Oortmerssen brings tempo to a momentary stop, most often at entrances of the primary theme, and I must assume - given the fine playing - it's entirely considered and not an accident.

In my case, yes, I am a musician. One who studied with van O's countryman, Albert de Klerk. Others may not employ that same approach to the work, but I see no reason he should not, and certainly do not hear it as 'bad execution'.

  • @ulfnorberg: What's your point? That has nothing to do with rhythm; this is about phrasing. Are you a musician???

  • Perfect execution!!! Great!!!

  • extraordinario

  • Exquisite playing. The conservative registration is so sweet.

  • Beautiful. Just amazing.

  • Perfect!

  • A true artist here! He lives through every note he plays and the music vibrates through him - the instrument and the organist here become one - this is music at its very best - ahhhhhh - my ears are in heaven ! Superb! Absolutely superb!

  • obviously a student of Jaques Lousier !

  • I am forever grateful to Bach for writing down the musical revelations that only He could hear, so that the rest of us can also experience them.

  • This is for me sublime Bach playing where every note 'counts' and more importantly.. every note is 'understood' by the player. It is inspiring and moving for its mixture of seriousness and sensitivity to the inner world of Bach's complex musical imagination

  • Bravissimo!!!

  • Sublime 2:10...

  • great sound

Bravissimo!

  • I quite agree with you. Wonderful phrasing and musicality. Was this an organ or an instrumental trio!? I could listen and watch him all day.

  • Wachet auf !!!

  • Magnifique et Suave Interprétation.

    Quel splendide instrument!

  • What an instrument! Heavenly at 2:20...
