@derfy26 Hello there! The Aligner can be used to sharpen longer knives, the clamp just needs to be moved down the length of the blade in six inch increments. Hope that helps!
I just received my DMT Aligner set today and it ROCKS! Extremely easy to use! I have used Japanese wet stone (king stones) for a long time with Arkansas black and I can achieve great results by hand! After having a hand surgery it gets hard for me to hold a knife for a long time, so I bought 1 of these. It works, plain and simple, it puts a sharp edge on your blade and can cover many different blades from a Machete to a small pocket knife! The black stn will actually level your Jap wet stones!
That's an easy answer, the damn things NEVER wear out! DMT are the BEST diamond stones out, period. I've had one for 10 years nearly, and it's still good as new.
@derfy26 It isn't. You need to reposition the clamp several times, but that is it. Will do the job.

Cutlery shoppe has the Deluxe version for $56.
That is cheap. These are a requirement for people who like sharp knives.
