ok, try hitting the octave note on the E string, then slide to open, sounds more fluid, remember, this was origionally recorded with a fretless, nice enough anyway, will get you by at gigs :P also, for the break, there is quite a few hammer ons there,i like it all the same

That was really good! For Whom the Bell Tolls was my first Metallica song I learned, almost 20 yrs ago. Just starting again and checking out utube bass. Stick with it, you sound good!
