  • Why do those maintenance trains look like shunter diesels?

  • @rml695 I have no idea.

  • I have a question. Since Atlanta Hartfield International Airport's current terminal was built in 1980 how is it that the escalators in the terminal are Montgomery Twinkie-M and not Globe and Parallelogram?

  • my favorite

  • after the rental car center the train willgo in a tunnel where does the tunnel take you when you are still on the train?

  • @Luma645 The train simply reverses direction and heads back towards the main terminal.

  • Question. Do you need to have a ticket to ride this train? I mean, is there like a T.S.A officer that checks for boarding passes or can you simply drive up to any staion and just ride it for fun?

  • @797fan No - this particular train is in the non-sterile section of the airport.

  • I rode this last summer, it is really cool how the entire thing runs itself.

  • cool I can't believe they finally finished this thing a month after I moved to west palm beach. It looks great.

  • Neat, I moved to west palm beach a month before this was completed; this is my first time seeing the skytran in action. It makes me wonder what they are using the old car rental space for now that it moved from near the terminal area?

  • i think the announcement is somewhat like a SPAM.

  • @sjvirchow I don't know - haven't been on those since whenever this video was taken.

  • 3:04 dover arrow!!

  • Why don't they use the doors to the right of the station when you are arriving at the station?

  • @SimComProductions I don't know. I guess the platform is there in case they decide to expand.

  • @musicfreakcc Good Point. I have a flight Wed and I was wondering If I had time to ride these before the flight. My flight is at 6:10AM and I plan on getting to the airport at 4:30Am. Should that be enough time to access and fully ride these and also get to my flight on time?

  • @musicfreakcc Is this the similar shape to the Singapore SBSLRT in Sengkang and Punggol

  • @spartan117ism Yes, both are Mitsubishi Crystal Movers.

  • @musicfreakcc Have you gone to Singapore before?

  • @spartan117ism Nope

  • @SimComProductions Because people would get confused and could potientally get lost. This way people are on one platform and can easily move one way to another

  • @SimComProductions

They are crossing over upon arrival verses crossing over upon departure. This is VERY common with subways and light rail and in this case a people mover. If a train was at the station this particular train would have pulled straight in and then has it headed back to ATL it would have crossed over.

  • I like to think of this as an outdoor version of the AeroTrain.

  • i rode this in august and i just can't forget it :)

  • Is this the same train they have in Singapore? :D

  • @iMarshallTV Yes.

  • Oooh, that's a very nice Sky Train!

  • I did not know about this at the Atlanta airport! I've only switched flights there and I only rode the underground one.

  • @Celiecinema1 Yeah - it just opened a few months ago.

  • That is such a fast train!!!!! Probably fast as a metro or subway. Phoenix Airport is getting their own skytrain like this one here in Atlanta Airport. The one in Phoenix Airport is gonna have Bombardier Innovia vehicles which is going to be a very very fast train. DFW Airport has those same vehicles with their skylink train, and i can tell u, it is very fast.

  • Is this the one that goes to the Rental Car parking lot?

  • Is this the one that goes to the Rental Car parking lot? When did this open because when I look at google maps it always shows that they working on finishing it at the other end of I-85.

  • ive been on this piece of crap train 3 times. all 3 times they were for getting to and from georgia aquarium.

  • Wrong train - this one doesn't go to Atlanta.

  • @musicfreakcc right, this travels inbetween the airport and rental car center

  • @300man04 This is the new people mover, actually. I haven't been to Atlanta and this video makes me want to fly to Atlanta to check out Downtown Atlanta.

  • @300man04 that piece of crap you were riding was marta

  • It looks like an elevator because the doors are near the train itself. But the difference is that it goes left and right, not up and down! LOL!

  • Gotta love technology. Nice retake. That call button is a very smart idea. Sure beats the 30 minute wait at EWR for off-peak monorail trains. Very weird door chime though. Not so sure I like that one. Also sounds like the timing on the recordings needs work. But not bad. Very cool to see a foreign APM.

  • Imagine how well MARTA would run if it was fully automated...

  • this is fully automated?

they were still building the track when i came there last year wow its been exctly 1 year too lol

  • It's fully automated, although for now all trains have maintenance personnel onboard.
