That said, he's still not at all a man to be admired. While he may have been falsly accused, he also himself falsly accused others (specifically the Christians) of starting that fire. And that was only one of the many things for which he is guilty. In his case, I do agree with you about being a barbaric savage. Thankfully, he was just one emperor.

@255ad True, but even though they usually get in on political ability I have found throughout the history of my country that once they have been sworn into office they vary in their abilities (or perhaps tendencies?) to make either good or bad decisions. It's one of the difficulties of democracy: you can still end up with a less-than-ideal leader, and this time you have to deal with the knowledge that it was you who put them in leadership (but I still like democracy anyway).
