Edgedweapon88, Sorry for the comments, but they were not directed towards you personally. You are a collector and that's great. You obviously have an interest in Native American/Indigenous Canadian items. There are many items you will not be able to collect unless the money to do so is unlimited. In which case reproductions are the next best thing. Feel free to remove all my comments if need be. Interesting vids none the less.
That isn't a Native American knife. Sorry to disappoint you. I am a Native American so I should know. You don't know what your talking about. And it isn't made out of bone. So easy to tell.
@ThetaGen Yeah, I don't know why so many people sdo this sort of thing. They should find a way to confirm it if they want us to believe it. If they don't then they must not find it important or they know it isn't a real native knife.
@kaylach12 There are a lot of different Native American groups and they each have their own skills and traditions. The fact that you are Native American doesn't make you an expert on all of them.
The new X-ray machines use now show the density of items and stuff in bags. So this would show up and its shape would be quite clearly visible. Also....its animal product so it will show up in a different colour from clothing and other Non-biological items.
@DVDluvr123 A treu Native artist would NOT USE PONY BEADS, rooster feathers or any materials purchased from a hobby store. So, Mr. DVDluvr123, please post your proof that it is real. Let's hear your expertise on the subject!
@acliffordknives Actually, I don't have any obligation to prove that it is real because I never claimed that it was real. If you think I did, then I challenge you to read my previous comment. again. It is reasonable to expect that the person who is making a claim should be able to provide proof of that claim. Okay, please post your proof that the items used on the knife were purchased from a hobby store.
@DVDluvr123 If an AURPORT GIFT SHOP can orders these in large quantities from a catalog to sell in an AIRPORT I would fare to say that it isn't authentic based of that. Also, there are several hints that it's not authentic. If he purchased this and it did not come with PROFF that it was REAL then law state that it can't be sold. The person you NEED to ask whether it came with cert. of auth., which can only be produced by a REAL artist, is the buyer in the vid. I know better based on exp.
@acliffordknives The law you are referring to states that a piece of art claimed to be made by an ”Indian Artist“ needs to have been made by a member of a tribe that is officially recognized by the U.S. government. That is a law in the U.S. He bought this in Canada and there was no specific claim of ”Indian Artist“ anyway. Also, Native people can make more than one of an item if they want to just like anyone else. You haven't proven that this knife wasn't made by a person who is Native American.
@DVDluvr123 True. But in order to bring items into the U.S. they have to be stamped with a maker, even original items signed by the artist, especially 'indigenous made items". IF this were an Ojibwe bone knife, one of the only tribes that made bone knives, you wouldn't have found it in an airport gift shop. A REPRODUCTION yes, again, if you can pickup a catalog and order large quanitities of these and buy them for a few dollars without a makers/tribe name I wouldn't trust it was real.
@DVDluvr123 I sent this vid link to some friends in Canada. They could tell by looking at it that it wasn't real. At least not REAL in the sense that it's made with any specific marks, designs or clues that it was meant to be a REAL crafted item BY a Canadian Native. As in the U.S. items are worth more if included with a name, sig./tribe name even in Canada. I have several bone knives from Canada and if this knife was/is authentic it's strictly cheaply done for the tourist trade.
@DVDluvr123 So, if your point is to argue to the rest of us who know the Native Craft trade/business that we CAN'T prove this knife isn't real then we'll give you that but you haven't prooved that it IS REAL. Don't shy away with your bullshit answer "I DON'T HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO PROVE IT IS REAL" because you raised such a fuckin stink that no one of can proove it isn't SO YOU prove to me that it IS and maybe i'll change my mind! Until STFU about it little lady.lol.
Hahaha...those shops at resorts are total rip-offs. They sell that "native american" crap everywhere, even at Toronto's airport. Only suckers would buy junk like that.

regardless of where it was made, if it's real bone it can be honed to a keen edge. I've made a few & you'd be suprised how well they can work.
