An absolute classic from the 70's. I'd swear this was on the short list of dorm room necessities for every college in the United States from 76 to about 79. [That and a Farah Fawcett poster].
Boz is a sweet man. He sponsered my Softball team in '79. His sister in law was our left fielder (literally, sweet one) and we had no sponser, she asked while Boz and sis were going thru divorce. He named us (Boz Bombers) , sent telegram before Championship game, came to our Team Party and took home the championship Trophy!!! Wonderful man, catch him when he comes near. Thanks Boz
I had the album and 8 track "Silk Degrees" way back when loved it so much! I met my late husband in 1975 and we fell in love listening to Boz as we "closed the window and calmed the lights"! Back then Boz was this skinny white boy who had a lot of soul! He has come a long way since then! Boz is so talented! His music and distinctive voice transcends time and genres! He is simply the best! Thanks Mike for the video and thank you Mr. Scaggs for blessing the world with the pleasure of you!!!
Got it on vinyl. Mine is in the BEST condition of ANY of my friend's copies of this LP! Played it 4x, made a cassette copy each time. I MISS albums!!! ...AND used record stores. They forced you to RESPECT your music. :)
@sglopez2 I found the Japanese issued album in mint. I want to play it over and over but it'll end up like all the records that I had as a kid. So I forced myself to put it away. Now I'm depressed lol!
@sglopez2 Give me a vinyl 33 1/3 White Album, Garrard turntable, which inevitably ended up with a penny being used to weigh down the pick up arm & the soft static crackles playing in the background coming from a mono speaker taller then I am (size really did matter then!). Simple. Classic. Real music as it should be! Great time to be alive. Great memories.
@sglopez2 Nice and warm comment but this is youtube and the mp3 era. Sounds terrific anyway.
Respecting music requires one simple thing, TASTE. You have good taste. But the vinyl age is gone. Happy you are sentimental but music is about the music, not the medium.
@lidarman2 ---I must disagree. Music is about the experience....and having a personal connection with the medium just makes it all that much better. Listening to an mp3 file is similar to eating a piece of delicious chocolate cake......in the form of a pill.
@MusicMike. I'm shocked that your experience has so much focus on the medium. I guess at the live concerts you are paying more attention to the instruments and sound systems over the the message the artists are trying to convey. I'm sure they would be thrilled to hear this.
If Ansel Adams took a photo and you told him about your thrill in the camera he used and film he chose rather than his eye for the scene, you think he would be impressed?
@lidarman2 --In addition, at a concert.....I really don't care what message the artist is trying to convey. I'm not at a political rally. I'm there to party, have fun, enjoy the tunes, enjoy the laser lights, the flash pots, the smashed guitars, the entire "show' ....and have another beer. I want to be entertained....and that's what I am spending my money for. As a musician, I'm grateful when a listener gets my message (if I'm making one)...but understand that they enjoy being entertained.
@lidarman2 --You've missed the point. The subject is about vinyl and even CD's for that matter.....not concerts or photography. I respect the music just as much, if not more, than you do. I repeat, having the additional connection with the medium (vinyl, LP jacket, liner notes, CD booklet, the smell of old records, a Saturday afternoon exploring at a record store, finding a rare 45 at a garage sale, etc.) and the memories.....makes the music experience all that much better.
@lidarman2 : You have misunderstood me! I have music on SEVERAL mediums, I just have a particular fondness for Vinyl. I am ECSTATIC about being able to convert them to MP3! I get the convenience of portability of Flash Drives AND the awesome sound of needle hitting wax at the beginning of each side. That needle sound is your ONLY clue as to the origin of the files. Taking care of vinyl is what I meant by "respecting" your music. E-Bay KILLED my favorite used record store, I miss it!
@studiosinger YES I DID, OR UNTIL MY NEPHEW RELEIVED ME OF IT HAHAHA.GREAT ALBUM AND GREAT TIME TO BE ALIVE THEN!! BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE WHEN THAT RECORD CAME OUT!
Boz has one of the greatest voices of an eon. He also never made the mistake of performing with anyone who couldn't stand up with his caliber. He selected fantasic players to showcase his talent. He is a genius.
I saw Boz Scaggs live, along with The Little River Band at the Springfield (Mass.) Civic Center back in the mid to late 70's. They were great !!..........dico j.
@conrad1991ful - Hey there kyletango. Nice to meet you. I use to live near columbus and I was born in Moultrie. But don't get my statement wrong about Boz Scaggs. I am a happily married woman. Just a huge fan of Boz Scaggs and always will be. Be my friend on facebook.
