I was a teenager when USSR collapsed and we supposed some bad news. At Latinamerica we saw to Soviet people as opressed and sad... Now, some years later, we know that any Soviet citizen had better opportunities than any of us. I know really good minds and workers that are going to die. However, since the collapse of soviet union, they have lost the right to employment, health care, retirement, education, housing, etc... which is why so many Russians today live with horrible poverty... why diseases like HIV are such a problem, why preventable diseases such as polio and measles are coming back. Capitalism is only interested in profit, regardless of what it does to people

@paolocabling Unfortunately the Philippines has suffered hugely from its pro-American capitalist stance. It is not real democracy, just a facade. It has one of the highest emigration rates in the world, compare the economic success of Vietnam and China with the Philippines. The only freedom many Filipinos have is the freedom to emigrate and find work abroad. To achieve true freedom the Philippines needs to cut political ties with the US and run its own country.
